I'm not so sure about this comparison. I know that Porsche is a fast car but so is the 612. The driver of the Scag,,,didn't seem to be driving that 612, He was baby driving it, The sound inside the car is the tell tale. The 612 is still a no BS 200 mph car.and it can get there rapidly.
This is not a fair race, because 612 is only 540ps, but also more than 2 seats, of course, the weight increase porsche has 612hp, and lighter weight than the 612, Porsche, of course win!!!But the torque almost all aspects of the two car

Kind of my point actually. That those two cars have more in common in class then against the 612. The 612 isn't the same type of car.. it's got 2 extra seats and at LEAST 15 inches more body to haul around.. probably more. So if your going to compare it to a heavy oversize car.. then at least make the heavy oversize car you compare it to.. have 2 seats.
That said.. It would loose to an SLR.. but yes.. it would be closer and not be comparing a touring car to a sport.

wow, this 612 Scaglietti is really very very slow! It's obvious that Ferrari is giving wrong datas about the power of their cars. Except maybe for the Enzo. A 430 for example has always about 30-70hp less then saying from Ferrari.
The 612 Scaglietti is a 4 seater family car and outweighs the Porsche by 1000 pounds. Plus the Porsche has 70 extra HP. This is like comparing the Porsche Cayenne to the Ferrari F430
yeah, but the carrera gt beats the 599 as well and that one has more horsepowers. funnty thing, i borrowed a gemballa gtr 700 or something from a freind (thats a cayenne turbo s with a little extra) and i took a ferrari f430 spider in a highway race. but i think that was thanks to the turbos.
The CGT barely beats the 599 GTB. The 599 weighs over 700 lbs more, which gives the CGT an unfair advantage. As far as your Cayenne turbo story, you either got lucky due to traffic obstructions or the Ferrari was playing with you.

It's a matter of taste, but I think the CGT is one of the least attractive Porsches. It looks flat and boxy with pudgy looking curves. The real beauty is the Lambo Gallardo Superleggeria. Now that's a truly exquisite looking machine.

The GTR is a sporty GT car. Comparing the GTR to the ZR1 is similar to comparing the SLR to the Carrera GT. One is a supercar, the other is a GT car. The Viper is garbage, but it does have great performance both in corners (if you can control it) and in a straight line. (I'm talking about the 600 hp one).
it has supercar performance in the corners, but not in a straight line. I once saw a race between it and a rental C6 Corvette and the Vette won. It's too cheap to really be considered an exotic. How can you put Japan ahead of the USA regarding supercars? The US has made the Ford GT, the Ford GT40, the Corvette ZR1, the SSC Ultimate Aero, the Saleen S7, the Dodge Viper, and perhaps a few others that I can't remember right now.

early Porsche didn't commit to F1 as the series was too far away from road cars.
They had a win in 1962. Then, from 1983 to 87 they supplied the Porsche-TAG engines to the McLaren MP4/2 F1 team.
25 victories from 84-87.
In 1991 they screwed up with the FootWork cars. Porsche is more a LeMans, Daytona, Sebring racer.
I got my statistics from Wikipedia that has no particular bias to either company.

If this was way off, believe me the respective companies would pressure Wikipedia to change it.
I do not know exactly how many wins one has over the other; but, Porsche(ah) has the most over any car. And, Porsche is the Largest sports car company in the world.
It is not "owned" by VW; Porsche owns the lionshare of interest. They do have a common heritage, so what?

no, they can't "afford" to race in it, they're just the largest race car manufacture in the freakin world. Have been named the most prestigous car name in the world; rated highest or among highest quality in the business; most successful in motorsports with 28,000+ victories. If they did race F1, they'd probably dominate it, like the others. In the technology dept. Ferrari can't compete. Porsche did make some successful engines in the 80's; they just don't like F1. So FO!

The 612 Scaglietti is a 4 seater family car and outweighs the Porsche by 1000 pounds. Plus the Porsche has 70 extra HP. This is like comparing the Porsche Cayenne to the Ferrari F430

yeah, but the carrera gt beats the 599 as well and that one has more horsepowers. funnty thing, i borrowed a gemballa gtr 700 or something from a freind (thats a cayenne turbo s with a little extra) and i took a ferrari f430 spider in a highway race. but i think that was thanks to the turbos.

The CGT barely beats the 599 GTB. The 599 weighs over 700 lbs more, which gives the CGT an unfair advantage. As far as your Cayenne turbo story, you either got lucky due to traffic obstructions or the Ferrari was playing with you.

It's a matter of taste, but I think the CGT is one of the least attractive Porsches. It looks flat and boxy with pudgy looking curves. The real beauty is the Lambo Gallardo Superleggeria. Now that's a truly exquisite looking machine.

The GTR is a sporty GT car. Comparing the GTR to the ZR1 is similar to comparing the SLR to the Carrera GT. One is a supercar, the other is a GT car. The Viper is garbage, but it does have great performance both in corners (if you can control it) and in a straight line. (I'm talking about the 600 hp one).

How can you put Japan ahead of the USA regarding supercars? The US has made the Ford GT, the Ford GT40, the Corvette ZR1, the SSC Ultimate Aero, the Saleen S7, the Dodge Viper, and perhaps a few others that I can't remember right now.
