  • how long does it take to get this good or close to it rolf

  • I just watched genius - true genius.

  • True Flamenco by the great Master Sabicas. I love the story of him smashing his guitar onstage at Carnegie Hall when one of the male dancers came out stamping away during Sabicas' big solo. Anyone else have more details about that ? Such a legendary meltdown...from such a Maestro!

  • @aurox07 Natural Harmonics

  • @aurox07 It's called 'Artificial Harmonics' played on an barred F chord.

  • I have heard hundreds, but to me this is the PUREST version of Malaguena I have ever heard. Everything about it....the smokey cafe, the women...everything is so perfect!

  • Anyone got the link to THIS version?

  • you need see paco cepero aquamarina

  • @mansteinman aquamarina is a rumba. It's not EXACTLY flamenco. Though Paco Cepro is a very good flamenco player. Guys from Jerez always are :p

  • the granfather of flamenco is nino ricardo paco de lucia masters

  • is there anyone can help me? i am looking for ASTURIAS video from master SABICAS. Please help me !!

  • This guy is the God of guitar playing, absolutely, no one even close to him.

  • If this guy can't make a girl cum with his fingers then no man can

  • Straordinario...

  • i like it but paco de lucia is the greatest ever.

  • @MrSameh2005 First of all Sabicas taught Paco de Lucia, and Sabicas is like the grandfather of all flamenco.

  • SABACUS is great but i still consider PACO PENA the best. however i have yet to find him performing MALAGUENA. STILL LOOKING. OF COURSE MY version needs a lot of practice. but this is the differance between those 2 men who no doubt having been playing for decades and myself a mere year.

  • SABACUS is great but i still consider PACO PENA the best. however i have yet to find him performing MALAGUENA. STILL LOOKING

  • SABACUS is great but i still consider PACO PENA the best.

  • genialny gitarzysta.

  • for those new to flamenco and used to think rock guitarists was the pinnacle..GO SEE PACO DE LUCIA next time in your area..he may not be around much longer, but if you pass it up,you will miss one of the great guitar performances you've ever seen...I've seen him twice in NYC and simply the best guitar performance, along w/cajon,horns,2cd guitar, singers and dancers,,total package

  • He is the best and he is simply amazing. Really...

It's the first time that i see somebody doing something like he do at 2:12

  • @kakuify I KNOW!! Like the beginning. It's mysterious and awesome. Gives me goose bumps.

  • The best ever? I'm really new to listening to this wonderful music, but this floored me...........

  • You are magic with the guitar.

  • 2:52

  • Where can one find the sheet music for this edition? I have it in a different key from sheetmusicplus but really want it in E Major. Great playing

  • incredible

  • To me, this is absolutely the DEFINITIVE Malaguena!

  • Malagueña.

  • does his harmonics like a boss!!

  • @sekmet100 He is bigger than a boss. He tells the boss what's what. He is Maestro!

  • Sabicas favored cedar top ramirez guitars for much of his life then he changed to lester Devoe and now so has Paco!

  • And to think I used to consider Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton "God." But Sabicas... ...wow. Ironically, in Spain they don't seem to consider guitar playing a contest at all. It's about the music there. It's not at all unusual in Andalucia for someone walking down the street to be singing out loud. When was the last time you saw someone doing that here in America?

  • @workingstiff19 Venice Beach

  • @workingstiff19 it happens here, but the point is that generally there are people pointing, staring, and calling them crazy

  • @workingstiff19 SEGOVIA IS BETTER!

  • @workingstiff19 Its cause everyone here is focused on superficial things and just believes every single thing on tv. People are afraid to be different and all the damn media just gives us negative points of views (oh someone was stabbed 23 times today). When I was in Portugal, the news was always something positive (besides the horrible car crashes, but really they drive at like 90mph in and out of traffic over there). I don't plan on living in the US when I'm older.

  • @workingstiff19 Hendrix is an apple; clapton is an orange and Sabicas is a water melon; there is no contest

  • @workingstiff19 this guy can't play like hendrix and hendrix cannot play like him

  • @workingstiff19 Give the americans more credit. They are obviously influenced by the same composers that flamenco guitarist are. And take Chris Broderick, very classically influenced.

Not to mention Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton didn't have the money for classical studies.

  • @workingstiff19 Agreed man. That's why i love Spain!

  • @workingstiff19 Jimi Hendrix and Sabicas were two extremely talented guitar players in their own right. Two completely different styles of playing and both completely beautiful and genius. Also, there's nothing wrong with a little competition is there? It's in human nature to compete. It just boils down to opinion and taste when you decide which guitar player is "better". Although sabicas's playing is very difficult to play and learn that's for sure.

  • You can´t compare a rock guistarist with a flamenco guitarist. Although the flamenco technique is one of the most difficult Sabicas can´t play like Clapton or Hendrix. Its just a matter of music genre. Guitar is one of the most versatile intruments, there are a lots of techniques and guitar types.

  • @workingstiff19 i know man music here is very self indulgent like LOOK WHAT I CAN DO! instead of playing music out of pure love for it

  • Can anyone point me where to find the intro to this song, i have loads of books and stuff with different variations but i cant find this intro and i cant figure it out :L any helppp :)

  • oleeeeeee ahi!!

  • Gorgeous solo...smooth execution-enjoyed!

  • For those who don't know Paco followed Sabicas. Watch a documentary on Paco de Lucia and listen to what he has to say about his maestro Sabicas. Thanks to him, Paco branched out and formed a style of his own for a new generation, but not until later. Paco also discusses other great's who influenced him. Well worth watching a documentary on Paco. Nothing but respect for all those who came before him. Ground breakers since Paco,...hmmmm? Great players, but... innovators? We'll see... ?

  • Only 1 stupid person entered this video.

  • Masterful!

  • Maestro.

  • complete mastery. all class. greatest flamenco guitarist to ever live. yet he gets overshadowed by many others (cough paco cough). many have incredible talent and technique but no one will ever come close to the grace sabicas exuded when he touched a guitar.

  • Oh wow, those harmonics are awesome!!!

  • @1family4me

everyone i show this too says the same thing. if a friend says "hey check out paco de lucia", i always show this video afterwards and they're like "yeah he's good but he's no...(harmonics come in) ohhhh wow damn that's sick".

  • @zulu26 Exactly.

  • Simply amazing! No other words for it.

  • Gypsy!

  • what a technique..tremollo with fingering in the same time...man!!

  • MAESTRO DE MAESTROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • PQP ! toca mtoooo

  • does someone know where to find tabs or sheet of music?

  • @aidemakedonia

It would be hard to find sabicas interpratation of this piece on tab or sheet. The video response on this page is the closest version you will find. This is a very popular piece that is attributed to many composers. Ernesto Lecuona's transcription is your best bet. Google him and something should pop up- he introduced the Malaguena to America in 1927, afterall.

  • @cabagecookie the one on the video response is absolutely perfect! if you have it's transcription could you please send it to me? or anyone out there? I know there are a lot of tabs of this song on the internet, but not one quite like this one or Alain Faucher's transcription.

  • How did the inflictors of thse all these mind dead comments even arrive at this page? I believe there are some lovely Nickelback videos you may enjoy at a foreign location.

  • @KierenMan

    .... yes

They're what transmit his gay powers to the guitar strings. This is a siren song for gays. Those chicks are actually dudes.

  • @cabagecookie&KierenMan: poor little kids. u r >14, aren't u?

  • @SeverinLudwig

You don't have to be 14 to be a dousche nozel. Trolling is fun at any age!

  • @cabagecookie i bet you like large ones

  • @KierenMan really dude... grow the fuck up!

  • amazing! the guitar is crying !

  • If I ever happen to get into a duel on a dusty road in Mexico....I will be listening to this.

  • @mboughan1 funny comment. i like. great song. great musicianship. i think this song is used by the doors in spanish caravan. someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

  • @animascat The intro to Spanish Caravan is actually Granadinas with a bit of Albeniz characteristic Malaguena melody thrown in.

  • grande Sabicas!!!

  • El Maestro Grande

  • wow i bet he could tickle the hell out of ya.

  • wow

  • Isn't there anyone saying "Guy is good but Paco is God". I'm surprised :D

  • @achyasha Sabicas is waaay better than paco, paco is overrated.

  • think this is my fav version of this song

  • unbelievable !!!

  • wow

  • El mejor.

  • he is crazy

  • Greatest guitarist in human history thus far!

  • OLAY :D

  • Beautiful!!!

  • This is wonderful!!

  • Sabicas - Passion Flamenco (1961 Recording):

    watch?v=5bpXwmTxllI

    thanks and regards

  • really...the maestro ,,,,,no one could play on guitar as he did

  • Sabicas reproduce sin ningún problema

  • Beautiful ...

  • truly a master of the guitar

  • the best. hands down

  • Menudo artista, y la mayoría de la gente de Pamplona ni lo conoce.

  • @faragatanfarra la mayoría de la gente ni lo conoce

  • If I had 10% of that talent I could die happy.

  • His songwriting is amazing, the playing sounds pristine, and that is by far the best sounding rasguedo I have ever heard. He is truly the undisputed "King of Flamenco". It is a travesty videos such as this have so few views, while rehashed and unoriginal pop music by Lady Gaga somehow earns 200 million views!

  • @eyesonthecrowd don't you think Paco de Lucía is better? I think Sabicas plays the best Malaguena around, but Paco de Lucía is insanely awesome, too

  • @zmanofwar3

Paco de Lucia is a truly talented guitarist, and it would be difficult to compare Sabicas and he. The reason (in my humble opinion of course, as my flamenco skills are nothing in comparison to these two gentlemen) that Sabicas is the King of Flamenco is that he has mastered the art of capturing emotion within a song. Paco de Lucia has the ability to do the same, especially in classics such as Entre dos Aguas, but even he has admitted that his main inspiration came from Sabicas.

  • @eyesonthecrowd Gaga should be gagged!! viva Sabicas

  • @eyesonthecrowd Idk I mean its a close tie between him and Carlos Montoya =-)

  • @eyesonthecrowd I agree with you, this is truly a beautiful piece of Malaguena. But earning 200 million views would make Sabicas an average guy. As the biggest crowd of people always defines the average, popularity comes to mean you're not special, just an average enough to entertain the average. What stays in the marginal is closer to a negligible or a genius. No doubt onto which side the art of Sabicas settles.

  • @eyesonthecrowd

Very true, but Sabicas didn’t actually write this: it’s by Ernesto Lecuona (1895–1963.

  • @PaulMagnussen

While Ernesto Lecuona did write the song in general, there are many renditions of the piece. Sabicas wrote this particular arrangment

  • @eyesonthecrowd I totally agree...supercedes the musicality of any kind of guitar player in this world.

200 million views for lady gaga...Since when quantity became synonimous to quality..is my question..!!

Comercialised rehashed/packeged 'artists' with primitive knowledge of music forced fed into us as very

talented..makes my head spin sometimes !! Now days everything is ART....

  • exelente

  • holà aficionados, i'm looking for a score or tab for this marvellous version of the malagunea because i can't find it out with my ears. Thanks a lot if you can help me

  • I sneeked backstage in 1988 to see him...I had no money...the orchestra let me in after I told them that I had been a follower and student...I met him afterwards and thanked him in the only Spanish I knew. He was very humble. He is the greatest of this genre.

  • Evoca las mas dulces memorias de mi alma. Precioso!!!

  • Shit is mesmorizing.

  • what the hell was that when it looked like he just touched the strings???? what is that called???

  • @gabriellastar88 Is called an harmonic ("armonico"). With the right hand: index he slightly just touch the string (with out presing it against the fret board). and he plug the string with the thumb. With the left hand: the fret the same note one octave lower. There are other few intervals to do it. Is a classical technique that some electric guitar players also do.

  • @AkiraSamuray thanks!

  • @gabriellastar88 Eddi Van Halen also do it. But with the righ hand instead of using the index finguerto slightly touch the string (with out presing it against the fret board). and he plug the string with the thumb. He tap the string with the finger, hiting hard AGAINST the fret, the left hand is the same. Other electric guitar players just doit the same way classical and flamenco palyer doit.

    Do you play guitar?

  • @AkiraSamuray I just just started. Want to learn flamenco, but decided to learn some classical technique first. unfortunately i'm broke lol (cant afford a teacher yet) so looking to library books and youtube videos :)

  • @gabriellastar88 If want to learn flamenco subscribe to csybu here on youtube. She is not a teacher, but explain nice, better that expert teachers. Flamenco use mostly the same techniques than classical, and also add some than are not included in classical (moslty LOT of strums). Subscribe also to Josetanaka. A good book for classical is Frederick Noad: First Book For The Guitar. The other from him is Solo Guitar Playing, wich I didnt know but looks promising. Anything else write me!!!

  • Ole Maestro Sabicas. Er mas gueno de tos.. Ese arte !!!

  • I WANT THE TABS !

  • wow. Theres just something about his aire that just screams flamenco

  • i think i just climaxed !

  • Outstanding!

  • Simply amazing !!! Thanks for sharing and best regards .Claude

  • 8-O

  • To gerundino98. You don't understand, Segovia was the only person in history that mastered the classical guitar. Sabicas was the finest flaminco player in all time. Sagovia did not like flaminco players, w/an ecception of Sabicas, they respected each other, & Sabicas changed his style to more classical.

  • Beautiful work....really!!

  • Excellent!

    Recomend also: Sabicas La Cumparsita

  • I wish they'd show the video of the strumming at the beginning!

  • out of the world !

  • arguing on the internet is like the special Olympics, you might win but your still retarded

  • very well said my friend!

  • @Setivo That may be the funniest thing I've ever read! Haha well said.

  • @Setivo Newsflash..special doesn't mean retarded. Cpt dick force.

  • @Siccuspiscis You've just won the argument.

  • @krampusz Not arguing, just stating fact.

  • @Setivo I love you....

  • @Setivo where can i finde the tabs?

  • @Setivo :-), :-)

    "you're still retarded"...

  • @Setivo ahh that's a pretty bad comment yourself ol son, those people are NOT retarded, how dare you.

  • @Setivo very original

  • @Setivo Awesome reply! You nailed it....

  • @Setivo

    >you might win but your still retarded

    ...

You just fell victim to your own point, good sir.

  • @Setivo Finally someone understands...

  • Excellent, congratulations for this witty remark!

  • the best malaguenas version i ever listened to!

  • Why not just enjoy the talent instead of making pointless comparisons?

  • @markjf47 Because that's not what music is about.Apparently,it's all one dick-waving competition.

  • Segovia said many times he wish he had talent of sanicas

  • not something I would want to sit and listen to. He's a great technition though.

  • he was andres segovias studen.

  • @abby161919

    ha ha ha ha ha

Sabicas was 10 times the player Segovia was

    Self taught also you numbskull

  • segovia was sabicas idol, he wanted to play like segovia, but sabicas was very good guitar player!

  • @abby161919 segovia was beginner compared to sabicas ha ha

  • Sabicas es un fenomeno de la guitarra flamenca!

il est au flamenco ce que Andres Segovia est a la guitare classique... deux geants de la

    guitare en somme!
