  • WHY 240?

  • Is it possible to use the following setup:

    Camera>Letus>Stock lens?

  • this kinda reminds me of the opening footage for "Six Feet Under" Well done!

  • dude , that's nonsense. best intro ever!! this is just a test

  • could your prove your point?

  • well..essentially a 35mm adapter gives the allusion to people who have no idea how film functions, or what makes its look unique - that their quality mirrors that of film (to a degree). automatically, the adapter adds depth and a unique style, despite content and shot composition being hugely amateur.

amateur filmmakers who lack talent and need a boost go out and get these adapters, and people who know absolutely nothing about film praise the look of these same adapters.

  • You are being ridiculous FilmGeneration. content, composition and other stuff is just like DOF stuff which is essential in film making. Don't insult people who don't know film function stuff cause the audiences are the one who give no shit about how you make the shots. With DOF or without DOF is not a matter. They look good and audience like it then you win. Sadly, DOF is used lots in film to draw audience attention to the main element in the shot, that's how directors deliver their content.

  • I agree, that's why I spent 70,000 on a Panaflex camera so I could film my friends and I fucking about.

Actually, I don't understand your point at all. Why does using an affordable adapter like this on affordable camera equipment mean the user has no skill in composition?

  • well that's not really what i'm saying. the point i'm trying to make is that most young people think that a shallow DOF automatically means a professional product. i laugh at 99% of the short student films on here, because it's far too easy in this generation to pick up a camera, shoot, and call yourself a "filmmaker"..when most people haven't a clue what actual filmmaking is. and then claim to have all the answers by using things such as these adapters, color timing, etc.

  • @likehell1 Because he is scared of competition. I usually hear the same thing from the talentless field "professionals" or spoiled rich kids with the best equipment their parents money can buy them. People like that are afraid of a technologically level playing field

  • what programe do you use to edit this video, and down anybody know where you can get it from ?

  • I like the color. Did you do much in post or is this raw?

  • Yes, you can but you have to be careful. Vignetting can be a problem.

  • Wow...Looks great!!!

Where can you buy this adapter?

  • They have discontinued it but I know someone who is selling one, if you are interested.

  • good!

  • great! I wish a letus adapter!

  • great DOF look.. i love that.. but it looks like the camera is up close, how does it look from a distance?

  • It does look like it's up to close, but the 50mm lens tends to do that

  • Good depth of field, but image was soft. Either the focusing was a little off or their was some loss of resolution due to the DOF adapter.

  • i come back time to time just to watch this video. one of the best Canon xl2 videos i've seen.

  • Thanks, you should see some of the footage we just shot. I will post soon.

  • Bear in mind there's a Letus and a Zeiss lens on that XL2!

  • beautiful footage. other than the 35mm adapter, did you do any color correction, and with what program?

  • Yes, just a slight contrast tweak in Color.
