later they learned that dumbo killed the rhino for calling him ellie only elephants are allowed to call themselves ellies also the rhinos have been harassing the local elephants for many years
On safari deep in the wilds at Kruger, our group was ruthlessly attacked by a roving gang of wild elephants. The dominant male turned our truck over and started stomping on people. 4 in our group were killed. I escaped to the bush with a high-powered rifle, and when the moment was right, I dropped this sucker in his tracks. Suddenly, a female came charging at me. Luckily, I had a bayonet. I stuck the elephant and dropped her. I hiked back to camp, but no one was there. Lions had eaten them all.

Is there ANY WILD ANIMAL in Africa left that is not being monitored and tracked, microchipped etc? They're managing wildlife like a corporation, and judging by the massive erosion of biodiversity, doing a hell of a bad job, but then again it doesn't seem to be the paranoid system's goal to protect nature.
Owning, controlling and degrading it seems to be the actual purpose.
If the system really cared about nature it wouldn't be so messed up, would it?
@suddenlyitsobvious They don't interfere other than to try to stop poaching. They aren't managing so much as just keeping track of. Monitoring, tracking, and microchiping isn't a bad thing. It helps us learn their habits and haunts, so as to help minimize human impact.
" They don't interfere other than to try to stop poaching. They aren't managing so much as just keeping track of. Monitoring, tracking, and microchiping isn't a bad thing. It helps us learn their habits and haunts, so as to help minimize human impact."
Yes they completely DO interfere, constantly tracking, managing, displacing , shooting animals etc etc and all those teary -eyed prominents constantly stating we SHOULD interfere and must all "help" and awaken to...
...to save wildlife and biodiversity and soforth are precisely the kind of people who have callously inflicted amazing damage on what they've become the spokespeople for. Prince Bernard of the Netherlands has been constantly shown as a figurehead of wildlife protection when he shot God knows how many elephants FOR his FUN- SAFARI's all throughgout his life.

The world has seen the "wonderful story" of Elsa being returned to the wild, but how many people know she died a few years later of a tick bite? Had she grown up in the wild, feeding on mother's milk, she may very well NOT have died.
Elsa's siblings after her mother was shot ended up in a zoo in Rotterdam, ...
...and it is unclear what became of Elsa's own cubs at the time she died of tickbite.
I find it a bizarre instance of doublethink, this notion that humans can BETTER nature through constant studying and interfering with the animals. Don't you see it doesn't work out that way in reality AT ALL?
Can't you see the entire logic of the system is FUNDAMENTALLY at odds with nature, that what's left of wildlife is pretty much some reserves, managed like corporations?
Your faith in the system is COMPLETELY misplaced I find. There are all kinds of controlling programs going on, for instance many African lions today are BRED in captivity, taken away from their mother at 3 weeks and later reintroduced into the wild. This creates lineages of traumatized animals losing touch with their natural heritage.
Why don't you look up how many years these game reserves have that status of reserve, ...
...and how the populations of animals are doing? They're ALL DECLINING.
Look at the rainforests. "Help minimize human impact"? You have got to be joking.
All this feelgood talk and politically correctness emerges AFTER most of the damage is done, and to state today they are trying to turn the tide or saving what's left is bullshit.
The wildlife of Africa is today under study by scientists equipped with a giant lab.
Why don''t YOU take a microchip "for your safety"?
@suddenlyitsobvious Wow. I don't think I've ever seen so much crap in one place in my life. Yes, the ones that are shooting endangered animals for fun should not be allowed to talk out against it. However, microchips aren't a bad idea. They are a very un-intrusive way for us to track and study animals without collaring them or having to be in their habitat making life more stressful for them. My faith in the system is not misplaced, I am sure there are groups out there doing bad things....
" I am sure there are groups out there doing bad things...."
Yeah, like terrorists or poachers. BEWARE!!!
The system ALWAYS provides a good reason for a bad thing. You aren't thinking big enough and looking at this from a wider perspective. Your problem-reaction mindframe makes you a complete sucker for the standard shallow and idiotic drivel that's being pumped out about "saving wildlife for future generations bla bla."
Look around you and ask yourself if the system is REALLY concerned about the environment, wildlife, nature, "sustainability" etc etc or if it is using these highly mediatized concerns as a ploy to control the gullible.
Apparently it is enough to cry "poachers" to have the likes of you agree with anything.
The microchipping of all wild animals is a grim reflection of a paranoid, sick system, ...
...relying on control, security-camera's and a bookkeeping mentality reminiscent of Eichmann. There can be no doubt that humans approaching other creatures in such a way will eventually find they are THEMSELVES subjected to the same kind of diseased control, and perhaps you are one of the many who is blissfully unaware that this is EXACTLY the direction society has been OVERTLY taking in recent years.
Of course, you must find this perfectly wonderful, because you "are sure there are groups out there doing bad things...."
And then you call ME jaded? Pfft. You are obviously very apathetic and dulled down...
Microchips "un-intrusive" ways to track and study?
Well perhaps to someone with a completely soulless approach to other beings, that are considered inferior and dangerous pieces of live meat, who's bodily integrity can be violated at will.
No, it doesn't. The mindframe of microchipping or barcoding living organism is ABERRANT.
So basically your initial comment "They don't interfere other than to try to stop poaching. They aren't managing so much as just keeping track of.."
was plain wrong. This isn't just about "monitoring". As I mentioned earlier, there is VERY PROACTIVE INTERFERENCE occurring in "wildlife management", ...
...including all kinds of aberrant breeding programs, reintroductions, displacements, and soforth, COMPLETELY reshaping the natural set-up.
I see you don't take up this point, and do not attempt to bring a minimum of depth into your comments. Who's jaded? Calling posts "crap" is one thing, addressing them substantively is quite another, isn't it?
@suddenlyitsobvious ....in the name of good science, but I'm not going to blame every group for this. That's just silly. Take the Amur leopard for instance. What you're condoning would have driven the Amur leopard into extinction already. I don't think I've ever seen anyone so jaded in my life.
where i live, there are people who shoot and trap dozens of rabbits, kangaroos, etc. every year, and grind them up for dog food, because they're too cheap to go to a supermarket and buy tinned dog food. people like THAT deserve your enmity far more than someone who doesn't take more than they need, and has a good amount of honor and respect.
@KKlawm But in Aus, there are places where there are Rabbits that over over - populized; threfore causing a huge population growth, and we as humans aren't able to stop it, but slow it. down. Kangoroos on th other hand, are just wrong....
COWARD?! Did you read anything I wrote?! Do you call sitting out in the cold for 6 hours for 5 strait days in the 20 degree frosty air Cowardly?! I did not get a deer this year...but I saw some cool animal behavior. I had a doe walk 10 feet in front of me.
Do not confuse me with real cowards...people who do canned hunts..that's cowardly (pigeon shoots for one). The deer here are 100% wild and free. You should thank hunters because w/o us half of the national parks would not exist!
sitting in the cold for 6 hours for 5 straiGHt days isnt exactly brave though. It would be if you say used knives or bows to hunt, not overpowered guns that you can hit targets that cant see you hundreds of metres away.
Yea there are some big heads that think that they are so great when they kill a deer from 1000 yards away.
I have never shot a deer further then 120 yards away, and after that All my deer have been with in 75 feet, I even got one at 20 feet once. That's charging distance for a cougar. I like to be close, Either hit or miss. After the 120 yard deer all deer have been one bullet, one shot. They all died on the spot almost instantly. That's a kind death in the wild.
@equarg You are a hunter? Have you watched the video on youtube called "Country Singer Troy Gentry Kills Tame Bear" search for that one if you are a hunter
Seen it...disgusts me. Along with trap shooting. That is not hunting. It's cheap cowardliness. Get out there in the 20 degree air..minus windchill and see if you get something. True hunting might mean you get nothing that year, its ok. Learn, and enjoy what you got to see, I had a doe and baby walk 10 feet past me while I was hidden and the baby ate 3 feet way oblivious to my presence. Sure I did not get my buck this year, but that got my heart pumping!
I may be a hunter, But I will never hunt carnivores, elephants, members of the whale family, or members of the ape/monkey family.
I shoot it I eat it. I do not hunt intelligent "animals".
Our stupidity is never ending when it comes to nature. We always thing of short term benefits, never of long term consequences. Then we act surprised.
The only thing we are good at 75% of the time is messing things up!
Fool?! Coward?! Listen hear buddy....I shoot it I eat it. I also am a close range hunter..I will never shoot any further then 100 yards (which is quite close for a rifle). I actually had a doe (only had buck tag) walk past 10 feet in front of me one morning..w/o noticing me. I never shoot anything for sport. I shoot to kill. If I do not feel I can make a clean instant death shot. I don't take it. I actually have a lot of respect for animals. I hunt, but I also respect.
@equarg stop making excuses. you love to do a coward and unjustifiable thing. it doesnt matter how much you try to make it better, your hobby sucks. just stop it.
Cowardly?! You call sitting out in the woods for 6 hours in the 20 degree humid frost air shivering the whole time waiting for the sun to rise Cowardly?! I did not get a deer this year. That's ok. I got to see come cool animal behavior and had a doe walk 10 feet right past me. The deer I go after are WILD free range and free. I do not do canned hunts or the like. That is cowardly. Don't get me confused with those wanna be hunters.
Only a human would actually physcially attack only if your face doesn't fit in - the sapient being so to speak. Only a human would manipulate you into thinking that you are a bad person or've done sth.wrong ! Some humans are good, but turn evil when given control. Some of us are only motivated to do things just for the sake of wanting to know "what it feels like". If an elephant had our means of communication, we would call it an alien and deny it's existence. Or call it a perpetrator.
Maybe its time to rid the planet of us, if we can turn animals n people into murderers, maybe w shouldnt be here.Dont give that Christian bs about someone coming to fix this,There not. Its up to us and we are doing a really SHITTY JOB!
I have read it somewhere. The teenagers elephants have been killing for quite a while everything in their path. That's because when they were younger, a ranger group decided that there are too much elephants in the reserve (don't really remember the state), so they murdered elephants in order to minimize their population. The murdered elephants had offsprings which remembered how their parents died, and grew to be full of pain and rage. They gathred together to survive and killed anyone they saw
elephant csi... so what happens after they identify the suspect(s)? arrest them, try them with a jury, and lock them up, with potential for early release on probation if shown good behavior?
@MechaBlazeEagle Sometimes I think human beings are the ones who need psychological rehabilitation. There's no hope of rehabilitating the elephants (and other intelligent & empathic species, dolphins, various bird species, etc.) if we keep treating them the way we do.
We've earned their contempt. For now, I say let them have their revenge -- anyone would do the same if their parents were murdered in front of them. <3
@MusesMetaphorium Very true. I wasn't excluding some humans by my comment. A certain amount of animals AND humans could use some psychological rehabilitation.
@MusesMetaphorium Good point, I wonder, if animals were at our level of intelligence...would they forgive us, would humans treat them any different? Unlikely that both would happen because humans are always going to remain selfish and controlling, so even if we are capable or respecting these creatures even if they were comparable to us, prejudice thinking would hinder everything. I supposed humans are still limited in that aspect.
We ham-handed humans have so disrupted the social structure of elephants lives that some of them are now exhibiting the aberrant behaviors typically found in juvenile delinquent humans. We are the only creatures who can threaten elephants. We are the only species disrupting their lives and causing this problem to exist.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i LOVE elephants. Look at the baby ones with their flimsy trunk flicking their baby trunks! they're SOOOO cute!! dont show me an elephant killing rhinos. rhinos are ok. Show me an elephant smash killing lions and lionesses. those stupid annoying bully cats! smash and stomp them all dead, even their ugly irritating kitties!
I remember by teacher telling me about this, the culprits were teenaged elephants how they solved the problem is that they got male elephants to keep the teenage elephants under control. The rhino deaths soon subsided.
Juvenile male elephants which go on the rampage may be 'suffering' from a condition called 'mudst' (in which a surge in their testosterone hormones makes them wild).
gentle giants? ur kidding me right? do someone really think they are? any intelligent person knows they can get angry very fast and unleash their fury at any time...
this is why i love natgeo... they never fail to educate their viewers... kudos to this video... learned a lot from it... :)

It would be if you say used knives or bows to hunt, not overpowered guns that you can hit targets that cant see you hundreds of metres away.
milliesjash398 1 year ago
@milliesjash398
That's a kind death in the wild.
equarg 1 year ago
@equarg You are a hunter? Have you watched the video on youtube called "Country Singer Troy Gentry Kills Tame Bear" search for that one if you are a hunter
sohcsarewicked 1 year ago
@sohcsarewicked

The only thing we are good at 75% of the time is messing things up!
equarg 1 year ago 2
@equarg You're a fool and a coward, why hunt anything?
jgraz42 1 year ago
@jgraz42
Fool?!

@the5thCount i dont think its even necessary to respond to an argument as moronic as that.

@maiabh
Please explain in what way its moronic?
Its true, your ancestors were hunters. If you are against hunting, then you are opposed to the founding existence of the human race...

I don't understand this question...

#2, thankfully, it is not necessary for me to hunt to survive because of my ancestors who were hunters...

They gathred together to survive and killed anyone they saw

elephant csi... so what happens after they identify the suspect(s)? arrest them, try them with a jury, and lock them up, with potential for early release on probation if shown good behavior?
ryunaki 1 year ago
Those elephants need psychological rehabilitation. I feel for them. God bless & watchover them, amen.
MechaBlazeEagle 1 year ago
@MechaBlazeEagle Sometimes I think human beings are the ones who need psychological rehabilitation. There's no hope of rehabilitating the elephants (and other intelligent & empathic species, dolphins, various bird species, etc.) if we keep treating them the way we do.
We've earned their contempt. For now, I say let them have their revenge -- anyone would do the same if their parents were murdered in front of them. <3
MusesMetaphorium 1 year ago
@MusesMetaphorium Very true. I wasn't excluding some humans by my comment. A certain amount of animals AND humans could use some psychological rehabilitation.
MechaBlazeEagle 1 year ago

Juvenile male elephants which go on the rampage may be 'suffering' from a condition called 'mudst' (in which a surge in their testosterone hormones makes them wild).
