  • And the lone wanderer travelled out into the wasteland, unknowing of the suburban enviroment which would present difficult moral choices

  • @TheOREGON1859 in a raincoat?

  • Damn! That would make a great tornado shelter, too! Do you know what the price difference would have been if you had gone with a 40' container?

  • every man needs his own underground masturbation pit

  • every man needs an underground masturbation pit

  • @heresyournametagmark Whats wrong with the bench at the park?

  • Pft, I would make a shed on top and make a hidden entrance to the stairs!

  • very nice

  • also i would definitely not plant anything on top of it, roots are infamous for breaking up concrete and destroying things underground.

  • in 20 years its gonna be one rusty hole in the ground, no offense. Unless you paint the whole thing with unobtainium its going to corrode. Still that is a badass shelter, just wish it would last longer...

  • I smell grow room!

  • Lol i'll just take the chances with my shed thanks ^.^

  • Shipping container?

    Don't tell princess celestia.

  • yeah.. a house with containers thats what i need :D

  • This would be an excellent setup to grow cannabis in.

  • War fearor...just another pretext to get drunck:))

  • ALL YOU NEED NOW IS AN EARTH BATTERY POWER CELL?

  • Thanks for sharing

  • A 12500 wine cellar, meanwhile in Africa...

  • @Altair565 so what!!!

  • the 1st thing i would do is grow a fuck load of weed and make some big boy money

  • Would suck if someone threw a grenade into the vent pipes

  • @revolutionarymindz87 That's why you hide the vent opening and put multiple screens throughout the actual pipe.

  • Must be cool being rich

  • this is brilliant. nicely documented too, thank you and well done.

  • secret gun room!!!!

  • Vault 101

  • I would jack off in there! Alot!

  • @flagface4 why are you jacking off in an underground bunker?

  • I wish i was rich:(

  • Same dimensions, 8" walls and roof, 4" floor = 17 and a quarter yards of concrete seems like the cheaper way to go.

  • how much does a shiping container cost in the us? :D

  • Not sure why you put six inches of concrete over the entire area and then just burried it. Shipping containers are VERY sturdy. They are made to support many fully loaded containers sitting directly on top of it. Also I saw you put lots of gravel under the container but you did not install a weeping system to allow water to reach sump pump. If you live in an area where it freezes your concrete needs footings below freeze level or freezing and shifing ground will DESTROY it.

  • Wow, you must be one of the lucky people with money and time to burn. Can't think of any reason I'd want a $12,500 hole in the ground.

  • It does seem like if you're going to build structure and fill in concrete that you might as well go all the way and just have a cellar built.. would it really cost so much more?

  • gratzz

  • watch here bit.ly\z2t7AT

  • Don't let the government know where this is...

  • thats chill

  • Why not just build whole thing out of blocks and concrete ?

Would'nt it have been cheaper that way ?

  • @nokillzone No, it'd be a lot more expensive if you do that way. Concrete doesn't come cheap.

  • Possible improvement for the next container - instead of putting in a sump pump that requires power, just put in a large french drain that carries the water away from the container. Just a thought for anyone considering this. I would also consider concrete walls to there are no cave-ins. Its a bit pricey but its cool.

  • how the hell are you gonna plant tress when 2 inches underneath the soil is concrete wtf!!!

  • yh hate to tell ya but that aint level :)

  • How hard would it be to install a toilet in there?

  • @JasonHickey12 it really depends. Your probably going to be below your homes septic system. So what I would do is dig your hole a little longer than the container, and install a poor mans septic system with a 55 gal drum and a short drainfield. The big job would be ditching over to your home water supply. But if your going to use this in a disaster it would be nice to flush that toilet. BTW these containers are stackable, a hole and a ladder and you got a 2 story container!

  • Hitler had a bunker.

  • Did you see that episode of Doomsday Preppers with that couple who built a compound out of shipping containers? That shit is awesome.

  • @UkrainianDragon1993 That episode was on earlier today and its a good idea. They are pretty modular.

  • rust

  • heh, i know where their is one like this, it has ben there for about 30 years, its full of hash.

  • 12500 usd + this amount of work......for a wine cellar. Congratulations.

  • wine cellar, meth lab, tomato tomahto

  • @theeggieaponte weed weed weed

  • I've dreamed of doing something like this for years

  • To bad most people do not have the money to do something like this. Guess we will just be outside to die.

  • Omg I remebered that mission in GTA sa

  • Pretty Cool. We just built a wood fired pizza oven from 90% recycled materials.

  • it puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.

  • @ind20000 run Precious Bill's got the lotion ! lol

  • Would never work in Florida!

    I like it though! Kudos!

  • @johannas58 Yeah. I live in Florida, and flooding during storms is a problem. You'd have to live in one of the higher places in Florida to be able to do something like this. But it's still cool.

  • all that for a wine cellar. I thought this was a SHTF shelter.

  • @dirtycommtroopUSAF Works for me, when the SHTF i am going to want to be around plenty of alcohol !!!!!!

  • Iv done my research you will have rain problems and rust problems

  • Yeah wine you are so full of shit.

I wouldn't have put this on youtube, man.

  • So are you growing pot, or what?

  • Hide the stairs and build hidden tunnel from your house to the crate for the perfect meth lab :P

  • By the looks of the surrounding landscape and the abundant limestone, I suspect this is somewhere in the Texas Hill Country. That hole was dug into almost solid rock. The metal will rust away before the walls will collapse.

  • He if the end if the world comes can I come to you place and get smashed since you will have so much whine

  • I am wondering why you decided to go underground with it rather than building a big hill and putting it inside the hill? Seems that the problems with water and such could be eliminated plus you could put a wind turbine and solar panels on the top of it. Or is this to be hidden? The reason I say this is because it doesn't seem to work as a bomb shelter.. And depending on how big of a hill would be just fine for a tornado shelter. Cement walls around it would have been better. Like a basement.

  • @freespeachrulez He made if as a wine cellar not a bomb shelter.

  • @freespeachrulez : "am wondering why you decided to go underground with it rather than building a big hill and putting it inside the hill?" Funny you should mention this. I am in the process of using the soil and rocks that came from the hole and piling them around another container. It will all be above ground, insulate things, and give me something to do with all that left-over material. Smart call!

  • @martiwf0 This is the coolest thing I have ever seen! Will you loan me the $ to do it myself?

  • @martiwf0 Brilliant idea, and unlike a mound / hill, its not a blot on the landscape!

  • @freespeachrulez because it is a fucking shelter, building it underground makes it probably 10 times more resistent to explosion impacts.

  • @wartree lolno. Being underground doesn't make something resistant. It only gives you a standoff distance to the explosion.

Not to mention that we have built bombs specifically made to penetrate bunkers. But never mind. An explosion in the surface would probably kill everyone inside with the shockwave.

  • i suspect helicopters with assin squads with airborn metal anomoly detectors have been built to find all the shipping containers.they will just drill them and insert cyanide gernade and their work is done. ten minutes tops

  • @datzfast lol

  • If you skipped the container and built the walls the same way you did the stairway walls you would have essentially built a basement. That would have given you walls with support and you could have back-filled the walls. The way you did it the dirt outside the container will cave in after a while and the metal walls will not hold that weight back.

  • I'll be there on 21/12/2012!

We can sit tight in that shelter when the world around us collapses and drink it all away! ;P

One mighty fine way to get a hangover sir, i must give you that! XD

    Good job.

  • Very nice. Seriously though - if I was going to that much work, I would have gotten a MUCH bigger container...

  • a peripheral concrete drain around the fill and a polycarbonate canopy over the stairs. That might lead to less load on the sump pump when the rains come. ( and they WILL come.)

  • COOL AS HELL

  • Take Shelter.

  • cannabis.

  • Damnit I wanted it 6in. to the left................Seriously though its pretty cool.

  • cool

  • Very cool and great idea!

  • I must be dense. Why would you want to build such a thing??

  • @jbg43 I wouldn't mind one in Tornado country.

  • @Devilen73 Yeah, good point I lived in tornado country for forty years. All we had was the basement, which in fact saved the lives of some our good friends after their house was destroyed in the middle of the nite.

  • @jbg43 Good to hear that your basement saved some lives mate :-) I lived in Colorado for a couple of years, and there were some twisters when I was there, but none came too close, but I was still happy that we had a basement, just in case.

  • @jbg43 Tornado shelter, wine cellar like the maker of the video, zombie survival shelter, the uses are endless!

  • @PointyMetalObjects I completely forgot about the zombie shelter aspect!

  • great idea for a bomb shelter

  • @teddydc2 If you wanted it for that purpose, I'd make it an even foot of concrete on top.

  • wow you went through a lot of work for this. But very cool though

  • Couldn't you just build the entire cellar with blocks? What's is the advantage of a container this way?

  • this is stupid. what happens when it rains? swim to get inside?

  • @ifuckednatalietran

that's what the slump is for (read the Description)

  • thats "pea" gravel!

  • 21st december 2012... hope im in your bunker drinking wine

  • Thinking about building a castle out of these things. Spending around 300k on shipping containers. Welding sides off. an underground floor. 48 foot long containers.. Good stuff.

  • someones getting ready for 2012...

  • Wine cellar... Jeremiah the Bullfrog gonna want to pay you a visit. Now that you have posted this on youtube all the winos in town will be hitting you up for a place to stay when the next storm hits. It does look good though

  • i would get this, but you know, flood season and all. :p

  • @LooksLegitBro thats actually a really good point. What about heavy rain? Does it fill up in that area infront of the door?

  • Wow a 20' Coffin if the walls collapse while in there.

  • @stvlu733 Not likely they can support near a half a million pounds.

  • @RuthlessZabusa Just wait until the heavy rain comes. There is no reinforcement on the walls or below and then there's flash rust and rot. You're gonna need a hell of a sump pump too. Water seepage happens faster that you think.

  • @RuthlessZabusa You'd be dead before you could dig it out !

  • @RuthlessZabusa what about when it rains heavy and water stars seeping in and flash rust and rot starts. You are going to need a hell of a sump pump. Water seepage happens faster than you think. The walls will get weak and collapse on the sides and crushing you like a tin can.

  • @RuthlessZabusa pfft not much

  • @stvlu733 Yeah why did he put concrete on top but no concrete walls, LOL makes no sense. Also wine? Wtf What he should get is lots of water and dry foods that are good fro 15 years or so.

  • @stvlu733 Being underground during a chaos is better than the alternative. Houses are not safe because they are easy targets for thieves and government. When Hurricane Katrina took place, the local authorities confiscated guns from law abiding citizens and tried to force them to evacuate. It is better to hide than to fight.

  • @stvlu733 You work with what you can afford. Something is better than nothing.....

  • @mojavegreenn And nothing is what you will have when you are lying DEAD in your 20' coffin when the walls collapse.

  • Vault "0"

    Need I say more...?

  • You forget to shoot the septic tank delivery guy.

  • You forgot cables for your internet.

  • Shelter? HA! I would just live in there!

  • Spot -on a say what a nice wee snug and if there are any heavy - storms due then down the container you go,a swear a have got to take ma hat off for such a great and ideal way to make life that bit easyier. Ok you use it for wine and anything you want totally amazing fella for such a simple idea and chep too considering the current climate 12k for a big container and what a bonus having the J-C-B ,you certainly are a fine constuction man with rebar for better stengh as it's rock solid.....10/10

  • For those saying it's going to flood, take note of the surrounding ground. They're on a slight slope, up the side of a hill or shallow valley. They will not suffer any floods.

  • @mmmmm9872345 Water penetration into the 1' of soil around the edge of the excavation that the slab is bearing on will accellerate the collapes of the dirt walls over time, undermining the slab support. This will transfer the entire weight of the slab onto the container, which is going to buckle right where the door was cut out. The container will also settle into the ground as there is no footing to spread the load of the concrete it is carrying. Flooding is a small problem.

  • That thing is not going to last. The soil around the edges of the concrete will slowly fall into the void, and the edges of the concrete will be held by nothing. The container will bear the weight of all that concrete, and the cutout at the door will be the first to buckle. That door opening should have been reinforced with steel tubing, and the concrete cap should have been designed with footings placed a good 6' from the excavation or underpinned with pilings. Not to mention flooding, ect.

  • @sherpajones Furthermore, with the container sitting just on soil, the weight of all that concrete could cause it to settle into the soil, especially at the corners where you placed the beams that carry all those cinder blocks. A proper concrete footing should have been designed to carry those loads. I know this seams like a good idea, but I design buildings everyday and I can tell you that I really don't trust what I see.

  • Gonna be a muddy mess when it rains....

  • I would make sure bottom of container is at least 4 inches off ground or rust will destroy floor in 20 years. Most important...all this needs to be hidden so tax man does not learn of it. A entry way in a simple tool shed would hide it just fine... keep it secret until you sell the house then use it as a selling point.

  • 2 mistakes

    1. what happens with all the water that will rush in after an event of...lets say HEAVY rain??

    2. No Fire protection - water supply - waste dispos - plan B :)

    but otherr than that...ok!

  • @PetrosLAN fire potection, water supply, waste dispos are all options for you saferoom?

  • Now to build something similar to the Aperture labs from portal. Anyone wanna lend a hand? I've got a couple of extra spades.

  • Alcoholic?

  • @MrPolo284 Alcoholics don't collect alcohol they consume it.

  • Gonna make a meth lab,

  • is it rapture proof?

  • I wonder how the guy reinforced the walls of that shipping container? Everything I have read and heard says that the walls of these containers are not strong enough to support that kind of weight. All of the weight normally sits on the four corners. Pretty cool shelter either way!

  • @AKdreamz Transport containers and rail/cargo containers are very strong. The walls are what we refer to as waffle plates that are 1/4 inch steel. They can be stacked 15 high on a cargo ship with 100s of tons of weight without worry.

  • good idea, this would make an excellent place to hide....the bodies

  • I wonder if this would work if you live in an earthquake prone place? I have thought about doing this with several containers interlinking them or perhaps wielding them together. You could put your whole structure underground and add some sky lights, solar panels, ventilation system, as well as plumbing, and maybe some hvac. Then wala live off the grid, and try to leave as little of a foot( carbon) print as possible. You might have to paint some type anti rusting agent on the exterior first.

  • deeper more containers more concrete more steam engines

  • that could be my fucking gaming house<3

  • how much will it cost to buy these stuff?

  • is it bear proof

  • Personally I would grow weed in there. Wine is not as much fun.

  • I am a Contractor in the NW Ohio area, and we are starting to get some really bad storms with a lot of tornado activity. This would be a great thing to have!!! Look really simple to build too. Good job on your new shelter. Thank you for your Idea.

  • so , ya found my rape dungeon , ya cunt

  • must have a lot of money to spend

  • Haha yeah wine.... Cough* Marijuana Cough*

  • How do you prevent flooding in torrential rain?

    cheers

  • Sir, nice job! Did you leave the dead space between the dirt walls and the container walls or was that filled with concrete?

  • nice

  • i think ill just keep my wine in the kitchen :)

  • Excellent tornado shelter. ;)

  • I'm considering building something similar, though only half-submerged.

  • How fucking interesting! NOT!!!!

  • But once everyone realizes you were right all along and not crazy, they'll all be dead and you won't have anyone to brag to! Trolololol

  • Can't plant a tree over concrete.

  • waste of money instead of adding a wine cellar in your home adding value

  • should you have firing ports and a way to conceal the entrance so during a apocalyptic situatin you can hold out for a indefinite amount of time?

  • @nunvikingsofthesea dont be a moron. hed be a sitting duck in there. better off being mobile with no ties to something they could starve you to death inside of.

  • @SchleyFam1 I would like to disagree. If there was a nuclear attack, I would rather stay underground then remain on the surface.

  • why am i paying 250,000€ for a house, when i could live in underground bunker for 12,500$

  • Hello marijuana grow op.

  • It won't start sinking over time with rain and whatnot?

  • Thumbs up if your parents yells at you when they saw you digging a huge hole in their yard.

  • Of the 1,122,782 people that watched this video, how many of them actually went and did this?

  • @sun281jon

probly less I guesstimate.Less than the less than10% that know about the under ground bases in america.

I wonder how many mother $#@%ers know that?

This title says make a underground shelter then turns around and turn dirt into wine....storage,get outta here this guy knows what time it is

  • @sun281jon why would you watch this if you aren't going to make it, i bet out of the 1,122,782 1 didn't make this, that one being you

  • I'd need to bor
