@GlueyPorch well, maybe you're right. 70% is an extreme. they're all important, but i think Mills is overlooked, and melodically, he contributes much to this band.
@ricflairfan5 You don't get it do you? Micheal Stipe is 25 % of R.E.M., Mike Mills is 25 % of R.E.M., Peter Buck is 25 % of R.E.M., and Bill Berry was 25 % of R.E.M.. Without Bill Berry it's 75 of R.E.M., but that's okay because 75 % of R.E.M. is better than 100 % of most other bands.
I like how he doesn't overextend it with his now-clichè voice, and makes it sort of sound like the original. I thought he was going to ruin it but this is as good as the original, which is saying a lot because the original is a masterpiece in my mind.
his voice sounds great if not greater than it did twenty years ago. yeah, its a little raspy now, but that come with age and cigarettes. he's as beautiful as he always was ...
@sorcerer1975 the raspy-ness of his voice just makes him even more sexy ... loved his voice when he was younger and love what age has done for him ... beautiful man mr. stipe ...
@rohiogerv22 how the hell can his voice be a cliche? do you even know the meaning of the word?, you cant have a cliche in the context of a voice! or everyones voice would be an overused cliche!
I'm just saying Stipe has basically become known for his overpoweringly nasal sound. It's not a bad thing, but when he originally made this song that isn't how he projected his voice, so it's nice that he did this a little modestly.
