  • How did u get the sound??

  • @BeatlesGuitarPlayer1 It's the vintage HiloTron pickup with a British made AC30 that does the trick... and the flatwounds help :). Some people think Day Tripper was recorded with the Gibson ES-345 that George had in the fall of 1965 (and used on the December 1965 UK tour)... I think there's a Fender Stratocaster overdubbed under the main lead line, and it's either the Tennessean or the Gibson ES-345 doubling the riff.

  • @s2seltaeb

    flatwounds...thought so--Gretsch's generally don't growl like that, not with a 60s-type whine...

  • nice stuff...great talent, just too bad Gretschs can't growl...

  • @dreemeagle Thanks. Yeah, the Gretsches with flatwounds can only do so much :p. With rounds they're a little better at the growl, especially a Gent with Filtertrons, but you just need flatwounds to get certain sounds. The Tennessean sounds great with the flats :). However, I do now keep rounds on my Country Gent.

  • Sounds like the original. Good job

  • @HardDaysNight44 Thanks!

  • wow :) that was good!

    you definetly need more views

  • Good jam man. The tenny rocks

  • Really nailing the tone of the record there. Excellent work! Glad to see the Tenny getting some action. I'd love to see you play "Words of Love" sometime soon, maybe a double version, one with the Ric and one with the Tenny, just to compare. I believe it's the Tenny, but there are some users here to think it's the Ric. Keep jammin', and posting more awesome vids!
