  • have you ever use the automatic tandom silder?

  • Right on Sean another great vid bud. Remember guys make SURE you check those pins like Sean did as you the trucker are ultimately responsible for making sure things check out after you slide your trailer. Just wish I could start making some good videos myself out on the oilfields. Yet when your 92 pounds on your air guage in your truck with with 15 cube on its not something that is correct.

  • Trucker Steve

Arnold their is no refund after I post the article. You already received your product review a while ago.

    THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE!!!

    Arnold [arnie] Diehl

  • Thanks again for the tutorials Sean. You explained sliding the tandems better than my instructor in school did.

  • Geez no wonder it takes for ever to ship anything. jk

  • hey i want to know which is a good school to go to get a cdl? tku

  • u have the best videos out there on trucking on youtube.i am thinking about being a truck.any tips?

  • Thanks a million for posting these great tutorials!! I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching these. It's like having a good friend and a good instructor all at the same time!! I haven't watched them all yet but I hope you have one that makes shifting a 13 & 18 speed more understandable for a newbie.... Thanks & Be safe!

  • whats the little box on the front of the tandems for

  • @ptrhip That's juat a cover for the air valve, to dump the air bags

  • @seansuth oh cuz ive never noticed what that was

  • @seansuth u and trucker steve teach me so much in ur videos tyvm for the info u guys are the best at explaining this shit in the way that i can laugh while learn :D

  • @TheLargecars NP. I'm glad to share my knowledge in hopes to educate not only future drivers professionally, but thhe average lay driver who may not understand the physics of trucks.

  • @seansuth it sucks all the new laws the truckers have now like when ur driving down the road and u look out the window and a little kid is doing the blow your horn hand gester and well its crap that u can get into trouble for making a kid happy i mean wtf man i love the sound of the bullhorns and the stupid law that u cant straight pipe ur tuck no more and bad drivers in there 4 wheelers think u guys can stop on a dime and thay are king a truck can take any thing down in a mere second!

  • I think I worded it wrong. What I meant was that on my scale tickets, the weight is always in 20lb. increments, like 20 40 ....They dont scale to the lb.If its like 79845 the scale ticket would read 79840.It would be nice to a extra axle.Im tagged for 85500 with a tandem hopper bottom. If I ran at 85000,I wouldnt be over gross, but would be over on axles. No problem Stay safe

  • @agtrucker Oh... I get it now. Yeah, this is actually a government scale... they'll nail your ass if it's 1 lb over right LOL

  • Here in the states, our scale tickets will read like 79980lbs.Have yet to see one read 79981lbs.But then,Im not in Canada. Are they always that close to the weight or have I missed something in the last 33 yrs of driving big trucks?Do like your vids.Keep up the good work&stay safe.

  • @agtrucker Being this was with a tri axle, it's alowed to have some more poundages. Thanks for watching

  • Hey man thanks for maken it seem simpler kinda takes my nerves away im going for my CDL in 2 weeks thanks for the info keep on keep'n on

  • I hate moving axles, cos you can be sure handle or lever will not move and usually when it is raining n shit. But luckly only happened to me a couple of times. Great vid Sean

  • @paininspain LOL. No doubt! I love the middle of winter and you have aparking lot full of ice you drag it across

  • Fascinating. Thanks for posting this.

  • Hey sean you still drivin?

  • seansuth its just the trucks and tankers that have sliers

  • never heard of a sliding tridem

  • I have one question.

If this system is not in the best condition.whether it is possible that the trailer pulling to one side while driving?

  • how long have you been a trucker?

  • Good Videos. Thanks for posting.

  • California requires a 40ft length for the axle

  • can you slide the axle with a new trailer

  • i'm a new driver ,i have learned alot from u just wanted to say thank u

  • Hey Sean say Listen You are a great teacher Every word that come out your month about what going on with trailers and tractors I can fully understand .. Dude keep up the great work. U ROCK HARD...!

  • Who took my krispy kremes at 7:11 ????? LOL :D Great video sean and good point at 7:30 very big hazard there Sean I never noticed anyone else mention that! :)

  • If the pins get stuck why not use some WD40 or Deep Creep and a hammer?

  • hey sean do all trailer's have slide axles or just some? I am just wondering

  • Most, if not all North American trailers have sliers

  • it's 62.5 tonne gross for a 25 meter B Double

    19 Meter B Double 55.5 tonne gross

    Single 42.5 tonne gross

  • because we carry heavier loads over here than america we can haul up 90 tonnes on a single trailer

  • A single trailer? Here are conversions from tons to lbs,

    90 000 tonne = 198 416 035.97 lbs,

    90 000 ton [long, UK] = 201 600 000 lbs,

    90 000 ton [metric] = 198 416 035.97 lbs,

    90 000 ton [short, US] = 180 000 000 lbs

Are you sure you have the right tonnage? Some how I don't see 180 million lbs on a single trailer. I MAY BE wrong, but I can't see that

  • here in australia we are the worlds heaveist load carrys so thats the reason

  • The reason to what?

  • You made that seem fairly painless, hehehe wish it was that smooth all the time.

  • the trailers i work on those pins can be a lot harder to get released somesimes you have to put vice grips on the handle and hit each pin with a hammer lol. very cool videos. lot of good info

  • here in australia we cant slide the axes on our trailers nore can we slide our fifth wheel our fifth wheels r bolted down onto the chassie

  • thats odd, is it the law or something that dont allow you guys in australia to slide tandems or your 5th wheel? with the different trailer configurations you have there i thought you could for sure but now i am seeing more and more comments from u guys saying u cant...strange

  • Can't move the axles in Europe either, that I know of. Never seen it except on log trucks atleast. Normally the 5th wheel doesn't go anywhere either. But in Europe you've got max-length of the vehicles, and usually the only reason to move the 5th wheel closer is to close the gap for aerodynamics.

  • nice

  • A driver called on his CB one time in S. Dakota and said "Can somebody help me slide my tandems?" I answered " Sure! Where are Ya!"

He had the same type of old style release and engage lock rather than the type with the long lever bar. He told me it was "really tight" so I would have to pull as hard as I could. I did and it came right loose and I wound up on my butt laughing but we got them moved and he was on his way!

  • Sean thank you ,tri's you must check keep up the great vid's,i run tandom ty for the vid..

  • thanks for the video i watched it yesterday and we did this in school today my instructor was pretty impressed with my lack of questions and i told i was taught by sean suth on youtube lol

  • excellent video. thanks for posting.

  • realy first class tutorial, i wish there was more of this sort of thing on you tube, ill be on the road within 3 years and i want to be safe.

  • Do a lot of truckers drive in their socks or barefeet? Just curioua since you had socks on ansd no shoes.Nice vids

  • Some of the guys I know do/have. I don't much lately. It's not legal, but it's more comfortable over the long miles

  • Very good info. Where do you run?

  • All over North America

  • Lol when you fast forwarded the video the truck sounded like some sort of japanese tuner car :P

  • It's not a rice burner, it's (potentially) a rice hauler...

  • I was going for my A class but went for my B class first. I have not drivin stick since I was 18 yrs old. What will be the best school to learn on who to drive tractor trailers? thanks love the vids...

  • This is one aspect I'm not looking forward to when I start to drive. Dammit man I need to go talk to some sponsor companies tommorow but I can't stop watching your vids!!!!1

  • Been Driveing CDL 20 years in ENGLAND UK am fixing to drive in CA for a trucking company this infomation is a great help as we do things very different in EUROPE many thanks .........HRG

  • Excellent and informative sean, thanks.

    .

  • Great Video! Thanks

  • Very informative Sean, Myself, And I'm sure many other's, Appreciate the "info". Myself, I used to drive OTR back in the early 90s, But quit after awhile, And then managed to let my "Chauffer's expire, Man, Was that a mistake, Got to take the "whole" test over, Which I took my "Written yesterday, And got my permit, "Now", I just have to take ther driving part, Wish me luck..... Seriously though, I really do appreciate your vid's... They've helped me remember so many thing's I had kinda forgot...

  • sean, if i wanted more weight on the drive axles, do i pull the trailer forward, or back , and same question for trailer axles? thanks

  • think of the trailer axles as a teeter tooter. if you want wight at the nose of the trailer (drive axles) the trailer has to move forward on the back axles. if you need more on the back end, the trailer needs to move back. kinda make sense?

  • Yes! thankyou =)

  • Great video on moving weight around.

  • did u fix ur cracked windhield yet? lol

  • they havent fixed the steps let alone the windshiled

  • thats a damn shame. i thought challenger treated their employess very well....

  • is that an auto trans?

  • 0:01 sec will answer your question...

  • This comment was funny to me.

  • what do you haul sean?

  • anything that goes into a dry van/reefer

  • oh im 12 and serousily thinking about hauling dry van.......or is there a better tralier to haul...........My mom and dad haul dry van (just sayin)

  • that is up to you.,...i prefer dry van myself.

  • Hey man an addition to the tutorial would be showin about the trailer brake you know the spike id like to see about how u use that

  • Thanks for the tutorial Sean.

  • Rule of thumb here in the states on a tandem trailer is each hole is around 250 pounds and on the 5th wheel each hole is around 500 pounds. Comes in handy running refer produce. Great video!

  • So How do you like trinity? Like the 13 spd better. What engine does that truck have. My Dad used to work at a loading dock and when trucks came in averitt express they had to slide up to the door.

  • Excellent video. Very informative and well executed.

Who was in the passenger seat? Your wife?

  • not that time. it was a family friend riding shot gun that time

  • Are you by any chance going up to the ice road this year?

  • not this year. hopefuly next year tho

  • Excellent video again. Is that a Dunkin Doughnuts box I see on the dash? hehe

  • lol close Krispy Kreme

  • Good lesson! Never knew anything about axles being moved on trailers like that. All I can say is wow! Happy travels!

  • ***** Fav! Thx for a great and very informative video! You would be a great teacher!

    Happy holidays // Tomas

  • im curious to no what a heavy load is to you

haha not in a bad way but at the end you said lets get down the road with this heavy load

me and my dad pull coils and lumber through candada and somtimes we got 96500 on the deck

  • I just mean heavy for the trailers legal limits. I've hauled 140,000 lbs with Arrow, so compared to that, this is a feather wieght

  • cool stuff did not no they cud do that 5 stars for youuuu.

  • real good video 10 stars

  • Good job sean!

  • Great video, execellent picture and sound quality. Does you're max weight change depending on the season?. I read something about " winter weights" . I think this maybe because the road is kind of fragile in winter. Does this apply in Alberta/BC?

  • I dont think I ever head of weight changes for the seasons. it does depend on the equipment. this was a tri axle trailer and can hold a bit more than a tandem

  • I think what you may be referring to is, the weight restrictions they put on roads during spring breakup. I think it's generally 75% of your GVW.

  • Two thumbs up!

  • Whats the big black lever next to the speedo?

  • I'd say your talking about the trailer brake control.

  • on a freightliner I beleive thats a trolley brake

  • Awesome!

  • Another fine video. I've always wondered about this subject. Thanks for doing this.

  • Great video sean, and sweet intro.

Trinity not give you a coat?

  • Do you ever have a problem with the Bridge Law? (when moving axles)also Some times I had to run with LOW FUEL because of Steer axl weight, does that pose a problem with tri axle box trailers.Brokers would ask me how much can i hold (weight) i was try to lie just a little so they wouldnt over load me, there is nothing like having to run low on fuel and get stuck over night in cold weather.

  • I've never had a problem with the bridge law yet. and the LOW FUEL... thats one of the reasons I was more than happy to leave Bison. they loaded the trailers to the max, then you fuel. so I know what you mean

  • Steer axle weight limits vary by state. federal routes and state routes and non federally funded routes as well most people think it is 12000pds in most states it is actually 20000 or x amount of pounds times the number of square inches of your tire. Take care trucking brother.

  • wow, well see, Im one of them ones that thought it was 12000 lbs, I always wondered why I got a ticket at Bow Hill in Washington and se said I had the wrong size tires (he DID mis read the size tho) Thanks for letting us know Steve

  • No problem at all brother.I missed you on stickam last night ..Take it easy dude.

  • crap. you on tonite?

  • Later on maybe.

  • great video, very informative! Where was that scale located? Happy Holidays!

  • just outside of Calgary Ab, west on the number one hwy

  • That's the same intro for "Ice Road Truckers". It would be pretty cool if got to be one of the guys on the show hauling supplies, materials, heavy equipment, and perishables for the diamond mines in the Northwest Territories.

  • Well explained...heres ur comment...lol...

  • He is a Natural at this Teaching stuff, Happy Holidays to all Truckers.........

  • thats mad i did not no you could do that.

  • that is a sweet intro

  • Nice intro! Neat facts. Yer like Bill Nye!

  • You are the master my friend ,You have a great way about you,Explaining these sorts of things but not over complicating them.Take care my brother.
