Its funny because in the 90's Teenage mutant ninja Turtles, shredder hardly took off his mask to reveal himself, but yes in this series, we see his face clearly and to be honest with you, im kinda disapointed, i would have prefered it that he always wore a mask to make himself a mystery until maybe towards the end, oh well.

Quick ninja tid-bit: leonardos weapons are not katana, those have curved blades, his are straight, this makes them the ninja version of the katana which is shinobi-gatana not katana which were used mainly by samurai, both however are equally as sharp as they are powerful, in fact aside from the blades in razor shavers the katana is the sharpest and strongest blade in the world, u also dont have to sharpen it as the katana sharpens itself with use

I love how much this was inspired by the first issue of the mirage series. Very cool episode. The earlier stuff with Shredder was the best. I think he got a little too recycled towards the end. But I guess you can't have Ninja Turtles without Shredder and part of his appeal is that he just can't be stopped. First season was the best (you just can't beat its charm) but the rest was great too.
