how does it run with the rebuilt head and other stuff you did, i have a 94 cavalier with the 2.2 and it has 343,680 miles on it at this point, on the original engine. What i was wanting to do atleast is swap the head out with a younger freshened up head, mainly because the head gasket is leaking now and i have a lot of valve train noise.
Do you have any valve train noises or ticks or knocks, i have a noise and can't pinpoint it very well.
@motorhead45102 IT runs like new after a rebuild, and cost cost of rebuilding or finding another engine is pretty cheap. The 2.2 will most likely out live the car itself; reliable and easy engine to work with. As in for the head, there is a possibility of slightly bent valves from having a dead cylinder or more from the leaky head gasket.
@titanicwhiz well, the car it self runs fine, lacks power, but doesn't burn coolant and it doesn't miss fire at all. I heard from some places that weak lifters may be making the racket, but as for right now the head gasket is only leaking coolant external to the cylinders, that i know of. but it leaks pretty good though :(. I kinda can't wait to do the head gasket because i wanna see the inside of an engine with as many miles as i have on the little engine.
Pity it's not a stick.. As it would perform so much better. Good car though
