If they choose to, then they can allow you a trial or not, it's up to them.

I think you're a little misinformed here. It required military custody of Al Qaeda suspects and their affiliates planning attacks on American soil, American citizens are exempt. It also allows the administration to waive that authority based on national security and hold a suspect in civilian custody.
This is soooo reminiscent of the 1793 Law of Suspects that French revolutionaries passed during the Reign of Terror. One of the official clauses was to detain people who have "not steadily manifested their devotion to the Revolution"; in reality that meant shooting somebody on the spot because you didn't like the colour of their shoes.
This reminds me of that time this six year old girl wasn't allowed to board the plane because she was on that suspected terrorism list. If this passes, would innocent people like her be arrested without trial? X.x That and I'm pretty suuure someone would probably use this to arrest innocent muslims x.x It could be abused so much..

Even though there's a provision of the bill that specifically exempts from the military detainment policy, the Patriot Act already gives the AG, SECDEF, and the president the power to declare a US citizen an "enemy combatant" and detain them purely on suspicion that they're a terrorist.. Plus, regardless of exclusions, you and I both know there are cops and soldiers who would (and frequently do) break the law whenever they can say they were "just following orders." It's already a police state
