They (Second Hand) play this song live on the 'Death May Be Your Santa Claus' film which is nowhere to be found except one place in London where you can watch old underground movies. I forgot the name of the place, what a shame.
@HanBaby82 That's on their Album BRAIN CAPERS, also 1971. These two tracks must both be named after the 1969 movie called (wait for it) DEATH MAY BE YOUR SANTA CLAUS. Looks like the two songs are not related to each other beyond the title.
@tlm315 : When I read Bowie was working with them, they were unknown, so I was able to get their back catalog for nothing in cut-out bins. I got Brain Capers for .75c at a Muntz Sight and Sound store (they sold those egg-shaped stereo chairs in which we would "test drive" our new music).
@facelesshorseman yup i paid nearly nothing for mine too i already had all the young dudes which i thought was pretty cool then i came across this i like i think was the first track your own backyard and of course death maybe your santa claus anyway a cool record that im sad to say i lost along the way that will never be replaced .....peace
Vincent Crane and Arthur Brown rolled into one with a helping of early Dave Stewart (Egg). I quite like this and wish I'd known of them at the time. I'm sure it will grow on me, although I wish the main theme hadn't been repeated so often.
Yeah there were 2 versions of this lp. The 2nd release in 1972 , had FUNERAL as the 1st track. I think it was reissued because a few bits of the lp are heard in the Donald Pleasance movie DEATH LINE x

OK, I came looking for the Mott the Hoople DMBYSC and found this. Is the title a literary reference?
I believe Brain Capers and this came out about the same time. I refuse to believe that 2 different bands came up with this title independently!

was a film made in 1969-so presume both bands nicked the title-btw i was also looking for mth as well
