I's as impressed as anybody with what Calzaghe has been able to do in his career. But we all know what a absulote class Roy Jones is, after all he was the fighter of the 90's. So Calzaghe beating him now in 2008 is not a big deal. If he beat him 5 years ago then it would have been something. Despite this a perfect career is quite something and he has the right to be considered as one of the all time best alondside Roy Jones. And lastly I really think he should call it a day now.

Being british good win for joe, made me proud.
However Im a bigger fan of RJJ, and I just thought that maybe he could pull off some of the magic he once had. Had mixed emotions during fight, happy for joe winning but probably more sad for RJJ who was just too old. I have never seen him cut before, he just lost everything that made him superman, speed, reflexes, power.
I do believe thought no doubt that prime for prime RJJ would win, imagine the first round.

Calzaghe is almost 37 just over 2 years younger than jones and the simple fact is jones obviously didnt put the work in before the fight and he looked sluggish calzaghe outworked and outclassed him all night, hes just unlucky that every yank tries to put him down and mention age, joe is 37 and getting on 2 but he still looks sharp, swallow your pride and admit hes sharper and fitter than anything america has to offer.We put our hands up when hatton was outclassed.

I know theres only afew years between them but they both peaked at different times . Fight shouldve happened years ago.
Glad Joe won but dont honestly see it as an amazing victory beating Jones at this stage of his career. Although Joe has beaten a legend it does nothing to cement his legacy.

I's as impressed as anybody with what Calzaghe has been able to do in his career. But we all know what a absulote class Roy Jones is, after all he was the fighter of the 90's. So Calzaghe beating him now in 2008 is not a big deal. If he beat him 5 years ago then it would have been something. Despite this a perfect career is quite something and he has the right to be considered as one of the all time best alondside Roy Jones. And lastly I really think he should call it a day now.

I agree that Jones isn't in his prime or close to it but a win over RJ is a big deal for anybody. It is my humble opinion that RJ would have beaten any other LH last night....except Calzaghe and maybe Dawson. He looked better than he has in a while and would have been a good match with anyone else. Like you're saying, Calzaghe is 36 himself. I truly hope both will retire and wish them luck.

If Roy JJ fought anyone else with the mentality set let alone his great training camp, he probably would've won or did a number over on them. Roy Jones isn't wasted, he just faced Joe Calzaghe who is without a doubt the hardest fighter to overcome and work out in our present day. You can't say he would've lost to peak RJJ or any other fighters because you just don't know till it happens. Calzaghe answers critics time and time again, silencing them for a few seconds,then they start to cry after.
