the ionian scale is the major scale. it doesnt really sound that metal actually. id stick to the minor scale. it also helps to know common metal chord progressions.

Ty, I love my esp. Just wish it was 24fret. As far as the pickups go, they are Seymour Duncan Blackouts. Best active pick ups on the market imo. And yes, it's a custom. I installed the pick ups after I got it tho.
