Al just gave a description of what i have come to know in essence is the prosperity gospel! And thus in America the Church has been transformed strategically into a marketing experiment to see which formula will grow a church!
Paul Washer's video "Regeneration vs. the idolatry of decisional evangelism" nails this on the head! PEACE!
Why do all that use the term false prophets never you the Biblical definition of the term. I suppose they are exercising their right to call the kettle black.
These false prophets were set up by the synagogue of satan (judaism) to promote israel and make the masses believe that the nation of Israel is the Israel of god (10 lost tribes)
Look at the nazi's, did that benefit whites or jews? It instilled in whites a massive guilt complex and the jews became uncriticizable. the holocaust is a lie read the book did 6.000.000 really die.
White is black, black is white, think in opposites, the more politically incorrect you are the closer to the truth
@thomasborboa1358 the ones that have God seek God the ones that don't won't untill they hear the gosple but we seek His face and know Him because he is our God, booya
All of those men are false teachers - arrogant, prideful false teachers. Wells without water. The only alternative to hyper-Calvinism is not Armianism. These do not know the complete truth. They have not rightly divided the Word of God, and so seek to rationalize what they have been taught and now believe to be the truth. Please, seek God's face on the matter of salvation-salvation of the spirit; salvation of the soul; and salvation of the body.
How did you get saved unless you, seeked God thats stupid unless your not saved savation is a free gift, I got saved seeking God your not making any sense , take sripture out of contex and you can make any doctrine, calvinism isn't scriptural
There is so much truth here. People are seeking all the benefits of God's Blessings, but not one iota of obedience or sacrifice for Christ. Many of these "churches" are nothing more than entertainment.
The laughter at the beginning when the subject of 'seeker sensitive' is mentioned says alot about what those outside of this seeker fad is. People that know the Gospel realize that the seekers truly are not serious about God, they want entertainment and ear tickling 'messages.' For example, if by some miracle the Gospel was preached in a willow creek or newspring seeker church, people would flee in mass out the door to find another house of entertainment.
I think that these guys are full of it. I do not think they understand very much, I do not think this a useful discussion, I suspect that these guys are loving the attention that they are getting, a are just sitting there repeating what they think, loving the attention they are getting.
Praise and worship has superceeded the word of God\.Thes guys are the nonjudgemental church -they only preach the love gospel shoot me with your fluffy love arrow and , Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. You will never heard God is angry with the wicked everyday.
hagious9: the bible makes mistakes. I don't know if that was your point or if you're saying that that it was where he is coming from and therefore he is right. The notion that God only listens to Christians is nonsense. God is not a Christian, a Hindu or a Buddhist or a Jew or a Muslim. Those are human systems.
@pangaious God listens to everyone, but he only assures an answer to those who are his. Christianity is "man made" through the guidance of the holy spirit. Christianity does stand on very strong assertions based on the teachings of the bible. The bible which is the word of God, in spite of doctrinal differences, Christianity is a construct of God. The word is inerrant, people are not; however the claim of religion being a man made system is a cop out used to placate a great number of things.
Excellent video and excellent points made. There is no way to be sensitive about it. Jesus said "I am the Way the Truth and the Light no one comes to the Father but through me". Pretty straight forward.
I've never heard such disparate nonsense in my life, even when I was a Fundi. To say that the only people that really seek after God are the, supposedly "born again" is preposterous to me. what a bunch of Hooweee!! Wow! I can't believe this man, the second one on from the right. These same people believe that preaches another religion, such Hinduism and Buddhism, is doing the work of Satan! What?!! Where are you coming from, man?!!!
I've never heard such disparate nonsense in my life, even when I was a Fundi. To say that the only people that really seek after God are the, supposedly "born again" is preposterous to me. what a bunch of Hooweee!!
Amen! That is a good clip. I am so upset that in the name of getting along with others I have been walking on egg shells among other confessing believers. God has made me his and I am tired of apologizing for that. If you are not excited about scripture. Excited about who God is and what He has done threw Christ, that is your problem. Do not tell me that because I get excited that I need to calm down for fear that I might upset those who are seeking God. God forgive me for becoming so shallow.
gods not real, making all of these old men talking about jesus n such completely irrelivant, religion is just ignorance, if your gona beleive in god youve got to beleive evidence like evolution and dinosaur bones arent real, sheer un adulterated ignorance
@MrDubstepaholic The bible tells us a fool says in his heart there is no God. They are corrupt. That is also blaspheming against the holyghost, and there is absolutely NO forgiveness for blaspheming against God, who is the holy ghost! For your information, Christianity is NOT religion, it's a lifestyle
@musicminister5 well i think youll find that it is a religion, the government seems to think so, hence tax cuts and such, christianity is a religion, the bible?! the bible teaches people to be good to one another and to be kind to all men and treat everyone equaly, i can get behind those ideals and respect it as all religions should be respected, but i cannot ignore facts and science, to do so is to be blind to the world, you cant ignore facts that are staring you in the face.
I prefer to have a God-sensitive church. When God shows up, all else is solved and all else is secondary. Paul warned in 2 Timothy 3 that we would have a form of godliness that denies the power thereof. We now have "temple" worship with "Ichabod" written over it. Humility and repentance are so necessary, or else all these false doctrines and practices will continue to thrive in our midst. Our lack of God's real presence in our midst is the real problem.
Agree w/ "not enough Jesus". Arrogant theologians have 1 trait in common: too much Pauline intellect. Not enough of Jesus' heart. Mission work w/ illiterate people who work in rice fields from dawn to dusk cures you of all this nonsense. If pragmatic minds don't undertand a certain theology, i.e. "only those who have been prompted seek after God", that theology is irrelevant. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's cool to talk about that over coffee, like health care reform and immigration... :)
@lusoamericana I agree with you to a certain extent. When you speak of "Pauline intellect", remember that it was "Pauline intellect" that was used by the Holy Spirit to write much of the New Testament. People who have this "type of intellect" are actually blessings to the Church, for they share knowledge with the Body of Christ that is beneficial to all.
I do agree, however, that there needs to be a balance between knowledge and Christ-like love. I do agree with that. Sometimes it is lacking.
It wasn't a church service!! It was a question and answer period and what they had to say was relative to the state of the world... Yes, people need to hear about Jesus, but people need to know how to respond the the secular world! And THAT was the purpose of this conference!
@lusoamericana "Arrogant Theologians"??? Would you have said that about Paul, or Peter, or James? All these men have specific ministries beyond their theological dissertations, books and ministries. This conference was about apologetics, it wasn't specifically about "how to do church". The question addressed here is one that is very important because it points out a flaw in many churches in America that are far too carnally focused. Christ was the most heavenly focused man who ever lived.
@lusoamericana And if there is a lack of proper theological foundation, discussion and continued protection of the systematic theology of Christianity then Christianity is open to many myths, false teachings and so on because there are no "shepherds to watch over the flock". Christ came and did minister to and heal people, but His FIRST concern was not with their carnal well-being, but rather with their spiritual well-being. Don't let your eyes fall from looking at God.
Why is this guy quoting other people and giving his own opinion rather than just showing people in the Bible that the called are called to believe like the account of Paul on Mars hill? People are just distracted from the Bible and listening to authorities. Study to show YOURSELF approved.
We have to preach the Word. The first order of sunday morning service is worshipping God! I have jokingly said that weare seeker sensitive because we are sensitive to those who really want to come and worship God! The lost are not God seekers according to the scriptures. Preachers have the job to go outside the four walls of the church house and minister out in the streets where the people are. Jesus said go ye into all the world.
The seeker-sensitive approach feeds the innate self-centered nature of man. Our jobs as ministers is to lead people to a new level, not to reduce the message to whatever makes everyone happy.
I have to disagree with RC here as I was certainly seeking "the truth" which is Jesus=God "BEFORE" I was born-again. These men are in error in the first part of the video at least..the fact that these men may be highly revered doesn't matter I've studied with Professors who clearly were not regenerated. I might not agree with other liberal thinkers but this first speaker in particular is in serious error here.
@doctorh2005 ME!! I hold authority of scripture and the Lord Jesus above these MEN. I suspect that when people get so erudite and lofty they invariably get proud and depart from God...I know quite a few that preach the WORD but are not Regenerated. I imagine RC would deny Baptism in the Holy Spirit too and also to be against the Gifts of the Holy Spirit still being active today...HERESY!!
/// I imagine RC would deny Baptism in the Holy Spirit too and also to be against the Gifts of the Holy Spirit still being active today...HERESY!!///
Hold on a second.... Are you telling us that if you dont preach the gifts, you're not a CHRISTIAN??
Where specifically in the Bible does it say THAT?
SECONDLY, are you preaching that there are TWO types of Christian (of which is foreign to the Word)...Christians who are "baptised in the Spirit" and "those who are not"?
So you're placing them in the same "serious" catagory as those "denying the Trinity"? or "denying the deity of Christ"? or "denying the Virgin Birth"? "or denying faith alone"?
PLEAZZZ
/// Rather can you show me where Scripture says gifts have ceased? ///
Can you show me where I said I dont believe in the gifts???
/// distinct even from Regeneration in the Spirit ///
A born again believer can have MANY infillings of the Holy Spirit throughout his lifetime (its called "sanctification") - but NOwhere in Scripture does it teach "two-class Christianity"
John 1:34 (The testimony of John the Baptist-whose sole purpose was to bear witness of the Light)
And I saw, and bare record that this [The Lamb of God, the Word, The Light, the Christ] is the Son of God.
The whole purpose of the Gospel of John-unlike any other book is spelled out for us in the very work itself:
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
And we know that the Son of God has come, and given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20
Christ is called God blessed forever in Romans 9:5....not blessed by God but God blessed forever.
There is so much more....Clearly Jesus was called God and said He was God(I am)
yes the Bible says that Hebrews10:25 gather together with other believers. but this is not to segregate you from the world as man has done to himself. did you know (or are you one of the people) that believes that Jesus is coming &he will sweep the church congregation up & all others outside the church are going to burn burn! thats not what the Bible teaches but preachers are!&millions of lost sheep are led to the slaughter because they did not seek the council/guidance of God Himself but to man
Worship=the corporate gathering of the people of God-2:27 then everyone clapped!!! they are brainwashed by money/power hungry little preachers. just as the days of the phairisees/sadducees! its true friend worship is not that. worship is hearing Gods voice, fearing Gods majesty, following Gods will this is TRUE worship. you dont need a church or preacher to do it. God prefers that u pray in private because he sees in private anyway.
i have been listening to Sproul for some time now and must say that i admire his pursuit. however he is mislead as many Christians are! first of all Jesus is not God. "oh no- he didnt"- yes i did! Jesus said himself he was NOT God on many occasions we as simple minded man cant compute this though- but it is true.Matthew 19:16/17 Matt.27:46 etc. However the Truth is that Jesus was exhalted to Gods level because he was blameless. HE was our perfect example/Gods son created from virgin birth
It doesn't get any clearer. There are many more. Repent of your false teaching and turn to God incarnate, the Son of God................who said if you have seen Me you have seen the Father.
And that's not "I have been" like the NWT shows it.
@joseph82069 . you are not a cherry picker-one who picks scripture here a little there a little to fit mans ideologies. before Abraham was I am is in reference to before Abraham was, was Truth. Jesus said he was Truth. Hesaid I am the Truth.Truth has been with God since the beginning! Jesus is the representative of God and being a perfect representative of anything you must follow it's functions.
@joseph82069 they picked stones up to stone him ! why? not because as you would have people believe that Jesus was saying he was God! they were going to stone him because he was saying he was equal to God! there is a difference!JOHN5:18"the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath,
but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God"
@joseph82069 for God to pray to himself is ludicrous. for God to be tempted by the devil is laughable! and for the devil to tempt Jesus (WHO YOU SAY IS GOD) in the wilderness & the devil said bow down & worship me to God! thats preposterous! believe the Bible dont believe the church it has brainwashed many. However youre right there are certain parts of the Bible that can be misleading but with further research/understanding/prayer you can find the whole Truth
@joseph82069 Isaiah was a prophet & therefore he professed the truth of God-and prophesied what would happen. and today many DO CALL JESUS GOD-And he will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. notice the key words "he will be called" that does not mean that he is -it states he will be CALLED mighty God. as i stated b4 Jesus NEVER claimed to be God-because he was'nt!
@joseph82069 immanuel =God with us you're RIGHT but you are getting it wrong. Jesus went to the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. he defeated the devils temptations for Jesus to defy (his Father)God .when Jesus came out of the wilderness he then told the people that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. it was at hand because he had proved himself worthy to do GODS (not his own) will. when one overcomes the evils of this world then he is exalted by God
@joseph82069 remember Moses TOO had the powers of God- WAS he God? NO!! but he was meek & obedient & God wants a TRUE servant & He will reside in him!
@mikelipko John3:13 "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. " is equal to-Father in me/me in Father! when we succomb to God he will indwell in us &him being in us we in-turn are in him! Jesus while performing miracles was in Heaven. heaven is this invisible state that you cant see. he was there with the people physically, yes but his mind was in Heaven a far exceeded state of consciousness that surpasses our understanding.
@joseph82069 Jesus was sent to show us that we too could be exalted to God asJesus was/is.this was his duty,to hear God &obey God.THATS what the gospel=good news is!! not to hear himself&obey himself that is a sick selfcentered manmade belief!you are a cherrypicker picking scripture in the Book to fit your manmade idol.you cant see it cause Satan has blinded you-but Jesus tells us that you can defeat Satan but you must turn to Truth .THROUGHOUT the Book Jesus never claimed to be GOD
But of the Son He says,"Your throne. O God(Christ), is forever and ever.Heb 1:8
v9 -says therefore God, Your God, has annointed You(see Psalm 45:7)
I and the Father are one..John 10:30..go to v33,the Jews were going to stone Him, not for good works, but because they said"You being a man, make Yourself out to be God"
John 5:18-the Jews were seeking to kill Jesus for breaking the Sabbath and calling God His Father, making Himself 'equal with God'
v10- Jesus said to them, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say 'Show us the Father'?
v10-Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me?.........
@joseph82069 i am in the Father & the Father in me. THATS right not the Father is in the Father! dont you read all of the bible? Jesus also said that the kingdom of heaven is in YOU! where is GOD?GOD is in the kingdom of heaven! so if God is in heaven & the kingdom of heaven is in you(do the math) that means God is in you! Jesus what subtle in speech/parables so that we would work to seek God & his mysteries. if you sacrifice yourself to God he then will work through you to do his good will
I didn't say the Father is in the Father. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. The trinity. Not three Gods..One. Not a three headed god. One God.
The verses I mentioned are the proof no matter how weakly you try to explain it away.
@joseph82069 then i guess i am not your kind of christian.but i have read & continually do read the Bible&see that Jesus as I have clearly stated before Himself NEVER claimed to be God. he prayed to?GOD his Father He did who's will?God his Fathers He said he was the Son of man &Son of God , he knew not to profess himself as God that would be utter blasphemy.this is why so many so-called christians are lost because they dont accept the full truth. when you accept all truth-it all fits perfectly
God continue to pour out YOUR Grace, Mercy and LOVE. NO one comes to God unless HE calls them and Christians are called to LOVE God and people. PRAY, have a Relationship and LOVE those who are not Christian just like God LOVES Christians/ all people- amen.
joseph82069, that is pure ignorance. My father became saved after attending a religious Anglican church that didn't believe in the Bible's account of salvation, yet he knew something was missing in his life. And so he was made aware of what salvation was, and then he cornered the Anglican minister on this and the guy denied the truth of it.
So it's ignorance to do what Christ said. Man is utterely sinful and lost, dead in trespasses and sins. Christ said to proclaim His gospel. If your father hasnt seen his sinful lost condition and repented of that sin and by faith trusted in Christ who is the sinless Son of God, God incarnate. who bled, died on the cross, was buried and rose from the grave 3 days later, then he prob isn't saved. People have to hear the gospel. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word od God.
Because a dead man can't do anything. Lost people are dead in trespasses and sins. Total depravity. People are seeking spirituality but not from God or Christ.
When you tell them they are sinful and need the Savior they usually don't like it.
People want the extras ie blessings , etc etc . but they don't want to know God only what God can DO for them and so that they can feel better about their sinful existence. The Bible does in fact say that no man seeks after God we are all lost each one is lost and only God can breathe life into the human heart. God does the calling and we do one of 2 things say yes or no.
You err in that you think you are refuting something Sproul says, when you are refuting something Paul said quoting the Psalms. Here is what Romans 3:11, 12 says: "There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one." In context he is speaking about the condition of unbelievers. We are to go and seek the lost, but that's not to say the lost is seeking the Truth.
If a man falls off a boat, and he is about to drown, he needs a lifeline, that lifeline is Christ, the lifeline goes out to you, its your choice to grab it. Or you have fallen off the boat, you have drowned, you are at the bottom of the sea, the life line goes all the way down and pulls your dead corpse out. Then Jesus the lifeline raises you from the dead. Which one of these statements are true when it comes to salvation?
The first one. But DO NOT emphasize alone on "your choice to grab it", since prevenient grace(Christ going out to us) is the main reason why grabbing it is even possible.
LOL, your missing what Sproul is saying here. He understands that Gods draws the sinner to be saved more so then most men I have ever heard. I promise he is not disputing that truth.
For those complaining that the full gospel wasnt preached, they where awnsering a question about the seeker friendly heresy so i think you should foirgive them....lol
No wonder people love Sproul. Don't mean to flatter anyone. But when you've barely survived on a diet of cotton candy for a while, & you're all strung out & wired, you have a natural tendency to kiss the hand who offers Bread, milk, & meat.
It is not a pastor or evangelist's or any Christian's responsibility to save people. God is the one who saves. All we have to do is preach truth the way Jesus did. If great crowds of people including Jesus' desciples walked away from Him because of His teachings what makes us think we can preach or witness better than Jesus? He was willing to let those who will not listen walk away. The gospel does not need to be spruced up by us. Those whom the Father is drawing will listen and recieve Christ.
Seeker sensitive churches and preachers really need to study John Chapter 6. Jesus had recently fed a great multitude of people. Most of these people had witnessed Him healing the sick and because of the miracles they followed Him around. But as soon as Jesus started preaching that people had to believe in Him to receive eternal life, they left Him. Vs 66 says "From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more." Jesus Himself taught truth, even if the crowds walked away.
I get what your saying for sure, and normally I would agree..but this is one of those topics that really should have had Jesus and His teaching on evanglilism etc. Thats all.
I sure am, i grew up reformed. Just commenting on the lack of Jesus. When i think about how im supposed to act with people..in or outside the church i go to the sermon on the mount. I go to Jesus teaching's...i just dont think R.C is remebering Jesus or His ministry..etc.
The reason I asked is because he does preach Christ accurately and it's the basis of his ministry. I don't think it's fair to summarize someone's entire ministry based on 3-4 minutes of them speaking in a video clip on Youtube.
One thing perplexing about people like these theologians is that on one hand they oppose government social programs and claim its the Church's role to take care of those needs of society, then out of the other side of their mouths despite their earlier rhetoric oppose the Church having a social gospel component. Don't let these folks fool you , they are against the poor.
Its funny how they can go the whole time without talking about Jesus, His life and His ministry to the people. Line up your teaching with Jesus..and you might get a different anwser. Wow.
hey lane, i know your pretty current with these things...dyu know theres nothing in the uk that warns about the radical invasion of new spiritualism and postmodernist cults in english churches. Can you help? im in a church that seems to preach expositionally but in their leadership training program,4 out of 4 reading materials were from mystics like nouwen, hybels etc..i tried talking to leadership about this but they're not interested...should i leave or stay, we need to expose english witchcra
If they're not open to correction, you need to leave and find a faithful church. Very often, though not always, the followers will end up like the leaders if they stay under their teaching because of all the influence so I'd advise you to leave soon.
American Christians in their ivory towers once again telling the world what God is like and how he thinks. Ironic really when there are few places on the planet that are so ill equipped to do the job. It's easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than for an American pastor to accurately describe the heart of God. I don't read anywhere in my bible where God, in Christ, says 'worship me', he does however say 'follow me'. It makes me weep that these men are actually damaging faith
Here's you: I don't read anywhere in my bible where God, in Christ, says "worship me." Here's the Bible: "Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, "'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'"" (Matthew 4:10) At least you got the "I don't read... my Bible" part right.
PS. It should be pointed out that you start off by deriding these men for explaining what God is like then you proceed to tell what God is like. Hypocrisy, anyone?
Listen, the gospel is universal and it reached the ends of the World, without americanisation...because the message is Universal, salvation is offered to all, and the Giver is not an American but the creator (God) and Savior Himself (Christ-God). The Bible is HIS Word, not mine. Now, if you doubt the Bible, then you have to make a through study of Bibliology. Can Men damage the message? Sure! Men can always say stupid things...Christ came to SAVE sinners, not righteous..and none are (Romans 3)
"I know Calvinism is the Truth because I have lived it!"
This is a 'postmodern' stance. If your validation of knowledge of truth (or "Truth") is personal experience, then you cannot expect anyone else to understand the same truth if they have different experiences.
However, I doubt that is what you're trying to assert. I'm guessing that because people that spell truth with a capital T (and like this video) usually reject anything that hints at postmodernism and subjectivity of truth.
"The unregenerated mind is hostile to the things of God" This would be the best way to show what is going on with Dulcimerhxc, you're totally taking everything Silmalila just said completely out of context and what the Bible is trying to say. Notice that the "world" where Jesus was praying in the Garden, and the "world" in John 3:16 are not the same world! ""I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours;"-John 17:9
"For God so loved the WORLD he gave his one and only begotten son, for whosoever believeth upon him, shalt not perish but have everlasting life"-John 3:16
are these the same worlds? Obviously not. The "world" he spoke of are those that the father has "given" him, because "they are yours" so the 'world' in 3:16 are again, "Those whom the father has drawn to me"
"my sheep hear my voice, and they come when I call them"
In religion (or anything, really), there are truth claims made, and for every claim there must be some validation. Your validations of the "Truth" are all subjective and the result of experience. This isn't necessarily a bad thing; it's Paul entire basis.
Look at you post. "I got my answer," "I was alone," "I didn't need a preacher to persuade me." Your "proofs" are grounded in personal, subjective, revelatory experience, not objective Truth.
Great facts but Thomas Aquinas was an antichrist, so don't quote him...He advocated getting things by deceptive means in the Jesuit movement I believe...
Aquinas pre-dates the Jesuit movement by a few hundred years. Hard to get things by deceptive means in a movement that won't begin for another 300 years.
R.C. nailed it,only born again people seek after God.Most churches teach that man, in his fallen state, can make himself born again by saying a prayer. We have been taught a different gospel than what Paul taught.
Jesus died for his own crimes, not for the sins of mankind. Jesus extermination was very embarrassing to his followers, they had to explain gods failure to save Jesus, so they made up the story that it was planned for the silly reason it was for the sins of all mankind.
If god cared about Jesus or mankind, he could have forgiven without Jesus sacrifice. The gospels are false stories to in a failed attempt to explain Jesus execution.
According to the ads, this is going to be a Liam Neeson summer.

Paul Washer's video "Regeneration vs. the idolatry of decisional evangelism" nails this on the head! PEACE!

They have not rightly divided the Word of God, and so seek to rationalize what they have been taught and now believe to be the truth. Please, seek God's face on the matter of salvation-salvation of the spirit; salvation of the soul; and salvation of the body.

They know it all, they are 'saved' and they look down, with a sad smile on their face, to all those other, ignorant Christians, who will burn in hell.

There is so much truth here. People are seeking all the benefits of God's Blessings, but not one iota of obedience or sacrifice for Christ. Many of these "churches" are nothing more than entertainment.
GoBigC 1 year ago
The laughter at the beginning when the subject of 'seeker sensitive' is mentioned says alot about what those outside of this seeker fad is. People that know the Gospel realize that the seekers truly are not serious about God, they want entertainment and ear tickling 'messages.' For example, if by some miracle the Gospel was preached in a willow creek or newspring seeker church, people would flee in mass out the door to find another house of entertainment.

hagious9: the bible makes mistakes. I don't know if that was your point or if you're saying that that it was where he is coming from and therefore he is right. The notion that God only listens to Christians is nonsense. God is not a Christian, a Hindu or a Buddhist or a Jew or a Muslim. Those are human systems.
pangaious 1 year ago
@pangaious God listens to everyone, but he only assures an answer to those who are his. Christianity is "man made" through the guidance of the holy spirit. Christianity does stand on very strong assertions based on the teachings of the bible. The bible which is the word of God, in spite of doctrinal differences, Christianity is a construct of God. The word is inerrant, people are not; however the claim of religion being a man made system is a cop out used to placate a great number of things.

Do not tell me that because I get excited that I need to calm down for fear that I might upset those who are seeking God. God forgive me for becoming so shallow.

Our lack of God's real presence in our midst is the real problem.
fellovr 1 year ago
Agree w/ "not enough Jesus". Arrogant theologians have 1 trait in common: too much Pauline intellect. Not enough of Jesus' heart. Mission work w/ illiterate people who work in rice fields from dawn to dusk cures you of all this nonsense. If pragmatic minds don't undertand a certain theology, i.e. "only those who have been prompted seek after God", that theology is irrelevant. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's cool to talk about that over coffee, like health care reform and immigration... :)
lusoamericana 1 year ago
@lusoamericana I agree with you to a certain extent. When you speak of "Pauline intellect", remember that it was "Pauline intellect" that was used by the Holy Spirit to write much of the New Testament. People who have this "type of intellect" are actually blessings to the Church, for they share knowledge with the Body of Christ that is beneficial to all.
I do agree, however, that there needs to be a balance between knowledge and Christ-like love. I do agree with that. Sometimes it is lacking.
Cyyael 1 year ago
@lusoamericana
It wasn't a church service!! It was a question and answer period and what they had to say was relative to the state of the world... Yes, people need to hear about Jesus, but people need to know how to respond the the secular world! And THAT was the purpose of this conference!
aveyowyns 1 year ago
@lusoamericana "Arrogant Theologians"??? Would you have said that about Paul, or Peter, or James? All these men have specific ministries beyond their theological dissertations, books and ministries. This conference was about apologetics, it wasn't specifically about "how to do church". The question addressed here is one that is very important because it points out a flaw in many churches in America that are far too carnally focused. Christ was the most heavenly focused man who ever lived.
MrBlake14 1 year ago
@lusoamericana And if there is a lack of proper theological foundation, discussion and continued protection of the systematic theology of Christianity then Christianity is open to many myths, false teachings and so on because there are no "shepherds to watch over the flock". Christ came and did minister to and heal people, but His FIRST concern was not with their carnal well-being, but rather with their spiritual well-being. Don't let your eyes fall from looking at God.

HermitintheRain 1 year ago
If I might add:
John 1:1-4, 14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
HermitintheRain 1 year ago

John 8:58...I AM
It doesn't get any clearer. There are many more. Repent of your false teaching and turn to God incarnate, the Son of God................who said if you have seen Me you have seen the Father.
And that's not "I have been" like the NWT shows it.
Jesus was fully God and fully man.
joseph82069 2 years ago
@joseph82069 . you are not a cherry picker-one who picks scripture here a little there a little to fit mans ideologies. before Abraham was I am is in reference to before Abraham was, was Truth. Jesus is the representative of God and being a perfect representative of anything you must follow it's functions.
mikelipko 2 years ago
Does the text say "Truth", No. It says before Ab. was born, I am. Whats happens next? They picked up stones to throw at him. Why???
This is before John 14:6 so He hasn't said that yet.
He was repeating Ex. 3:14
Christ received worship in John 9:38, the angels never let man worship them.
He existed in the form of God. Phil. 2:6
For in Him all the fullness of deity dwells in bodily form Col 2:9. It doesn't say all the fullness of the divine quality like the false NWT says.
joseph82069 2 years ago

@joseph82069 immanuel =God with us you're RIGHT but you are getting it wrong. Jesus went to the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. he defeated the devils temptations for Jesus to defy (his Father)God .when Jesus came out of the wilderness he then told the people that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. it was at hand because he had proved himself worthy to do GODS (not his own) will. when one overcomes the evils of this world then he is exalted by God

joseph82069, that is pure ignorance. My father became saved after attending a religious Anglican church that didn't believe in the Bible's account of salvation, yet he knew something was missing in his life. And so he was made aware of what salvation was, and then he cornered the Anglican minister on this and the guy denied the truth of it.
knoxhiker 2 years ago
knoxhiker

Which one of these statements are true when it comes to salvation?
shanemason789 2 years ago
The first one. But DO NOT emphasize alone on "your choice to grab it", since prevenient grace(Christ going out to us) is the main reason why grabbing it is even possible.

Johnboks 2 years ago
The reason I asked is because he does preach Christ accurately and it's the basis of his ministry. I don't think it's fair to summarize someone's entire ministry based on 3-4 minutes of them speaking in a video clip on Youtube.

@Johnboks
"how im supposed to act" is not the same topic as "what is the gospel"

One thing perplexing about people like these theologians is that on one hand they oppose government social programs and claim its the Church's role to take care of those needs of society, then out of the other side of their mouths despite their earlier rhetoric oppose the Church having a social gospel component. Don't let these folks fool you , they are against the poor.
roberts11000 1 year ago
@roberts11000
Are you within the realm of reality? Do you think that there is or has ever been a group who gives more to the poor than Christians?
The poor will always be with us. Government has NEVER solved this problem and, in fact, every time they attempt to do so, they increase the problem.
How can you look at history, see the faiures and say to yourself, if only I had been the one. What arrogance.

Can you help? im in a church that seems to preach expositionally but in their leadership training program,4 out of 4 reading materials were from mystics like nouwen, hybels etc..i tried talking to leadership about this but they're not interested...should i leave or stay, we need to expose english witchcra
chaz10bug 2 years ago

It makes me weep that these men are actually damaging faith
whatwouldscoobydoo1 2 years ago
Here's you: I don't read anywhere in my bible where God, in Christ, says "worship me." Here's the Bible: "Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, "'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'"" (Matthew 4:10) At least you got the "I don't read... my Bible" part right.
LaneCh 2 years ago
PS. It should be pointed out that you start off by deriding these men for explaining what God is like then you proceed to tell what God is like. Hypocrisy, anyone?

well said Lane.

I was alone with God when I was saved, by reading Scripture. I had asked the Father 'Is Jesus your Son?"
I got my answer!
There is POWER in the Word of God. I didn't need a preacher to persuade me.
It was the Father who drew me to Christ.
I know Calvinism is the Truth because I have lived it!
I cannot abide those who would try to steal glory from our King.
All Glory to God!

Dulcimerhxc 2 years ago
I also said "I was alone with God when I was saved, by reading Scripture"
I also said "There is power in the Word of God".
Don't quote me out of context please.
I am no post-modernist, I assure you.
This is exactly what people do when they read the Bible, too.
They take things out of context.
...Anyone who has been drawn by the Father will know exactly what i am talking about.
silmalila 2 years ago

The "world" he spoke of are those that the father has "given" him, because "they are yours" so the 'world' in 3:16 are again, "Those whom the father has drawn to me"
"my sheep hear my voice, and they come when I call them"
RoyMustang289 2 years ago
I'm not taking anything out of context.

Great facts but Thomas Aquinas was an antichrist, so don't quote him...He advocated getting things by deceptive means in the Jesuit movement I believe...
thelamb777 2 years ago

Fundamentalist Preacher came upon a girl playing with a box holding a litter of new-born kittens. He asks what kind of kittens are those?
They are Christian kittens, she says. He left pleased she has Jesus in her thoughts.
Days later he saw her again. How are your Christian kittens?
Oh, they aren't Christian kittens, they're Atheist, she replied.
I thought they were Christian kittens? the preacher said, disturbed by the news.
Oh, they were. But now their eyes are open!
