the game doesn't continue after time expires, and it would have by the time he passed the ball to the other player. if the other guy grabbed the rebound, it would've been an easier shot, but since humans have their eyes on the fronts of their heads, he couldn't see the other player and let him grab the board.

HAHA maybe from the fact that you must never have played basketball in your life. I actually have. And I have made a game-winning shot. From my personal experience, when the game is on the line, a person's peripheral vision narrows. And, on top of that, he wouldn't have seen the other person. When you're at about the same length away from the basket on the court but on opposite sides of the court, you can't see each other when you're watching the player in front of you take a lay-up.
