The urban planners are like extra terrestrials, posing as humans. Los Angeles wiped out the distinctive turn of the century Bunker Hill neighborhood to build giant new municipal buildings, highrises, and freeways. Few questioned it at the time. Same thing happened to the charming Chavez Ravine community....bulldozed for Dodger Stadium. Of course, it's always easier to bulldoze people when they're poor and nonwhite.
