Digital Combat Simulator : A-10C Warthog is the most amazing flight simulator game I have ever played. Period. It is so complicated, it takes months to learn.

You know, it's funny. I had this game when I was much younger, so I never actually figured out how the hell to take off and fly the damn thing. But even so, I still leisurely played the game for many hours, without ever leaving the airstrip.

To start the engines, press + key (next to enter key)

To gain engine power press + key, to decrease engine power, pres - key (next to right shift)

To get the flaps down, press F key and once you are in the air press D to retract. To raise the landin gear press G

The controls are the arrows on the numeric keypad... 2 pull, 8 go down, 4 roll letft, 6 roll right.

Once you are in the air press M key to arm the aircraft and the C key to set up the range of your cannon.

man this game was and still is pretty dam awesome, i remember reading about the weapon systems in the help folder and making notes on how to operate them, it was so dam detailed! I loved the fact you could mod the sound files by putting your own ones in.

Yeah I think I was like 7 years old when I first played this game, AI kicked my ass all the time because I had no idea how to play correctly. Loved it when I got badly damaged and had to ditch though, was pretty sweet at the time when you were missing half your wing, trying to ditch a badly wounded bird.

I heard that on the training mission in the desert that if you followed the passing B52s that flew pass the base at the start of the mission that it would eventually end up at Area 51 and that there was a Alien loose and that it was blowing up shit and stuff or was that just mentioned as an aside in the mission brief?

I had this game as well. Could not complete any of the missions at all. Spent most of the time shooting down the other friendly aircraft. Could never find the enemy! Why was it such a satisfying game? I use to load the plane up with 2000lb bombs and would flatten the local towns. Was I the only person? Should I feel bad about that?

I loved playing this as a kid, even though I blow up my own airfields and shoot down my own planes. I always wanted to be a pilot. I'm stilling looking for this game, it's hard to find it for download online I'll try to look for the disc.

Theres a game being released at the end of the year by DCS that is an A-10 Sim. Its EXTREMELY realistic, so be prepared to read alot of manuals.

I LOVE this game! The flight physics were great, although I think IL2 and X-plane have surpassed it. What really impresses me though is the seamless air, ground and damage physics. It really felt like I was controlling a jet, before takeoff to after landing. Trying to land a damaged plane felt completely believable even after touchdown.

The very best phisics i think! I love this game and since 1997 i play it for this time! It works under XP. Only SU-25T from 2006 LockOn-FC has good, similar to 1996 A-10cuba physics. +100000000000000000000

Yes, you are right man, the best phisics ever !!!! I never found a flightsim with better phisics, also the newest have not like the A-10 from activision. I wish they would programm a new version of it, with the same gameplay, but more planes and objects and more missions, and an editor where you can safe your mission-edits.

If you want great physics X-Plane 9 has them. I was a huge A-10 Cuba fan and from about '96 to 2000 I couldn't get enough of this wonderful game. I even got in touch with Eric Parker (Parsoft) after a few years and told him how much I appreciated his work. He's a cool guy.

I just yesterday rememberd i had this game, too bad graphics dosen't work well on Vista.

But I got my sixaxis controller to work with this, left stick is fully correct, steering is quite good but mouse is better. Right stick controls the power, sideways and the gun is used by select button. And i don't see a way to refigure them. :)

Ooh- I got it working! had corrupt files in the old ISO. I just installed the demo, then overwrote the demo files with the game files. The demo "filled in" the gaps, and now it's playable.

I played the one-level demo of this game extensively as a kid, I ALWAYS wanted to get my hands on the full game, it was like a fantasy of mine, I remember even dreaming about how the many other levels would be.

It wasn't until last year that I finally got that full version. Oh man, what a trip down memory lane it was to play this game again almost ten years later.

My favorite sound always was the engine startup.
