i fucking love this guys lyrics!! i first heard some of his stuff on a beat ass recording but i got past that with wity/charming lyrics and fun/fast paced folk guitar
Erik Petersen is by far the best lyricist and one hell of a guitar player. IMO bob dylan has nothing on this him. He puts on the best live show i've seen yet.
i have never actually heard him play this live before, and i've seen him 5 or 6 times. i've heard him play kentucky anarchist and civilization street(culture shock cover), but i've never heard him play this live.
Mischief brew played here last week, for the last song Erik came in the middle of the crowd with his accoustic guitar and sang this, everyone sang along, and it was probably one of the greatest moments of my life.
Look into Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains. You've prolly already heard of them if you listen to Erik...but yeah, if you're looking for someone who isn't afraid to talk about the issues, check them out too.
all the bands that think they're punk, like fallout boy and simple plan, versus someone thats actually punk like Erik, he actually wants anarchy and sings about real topics, problems, and things, where as bands just put anarchy symbols on their album covers and think that makes them punk
you know i dont often read comments, but i'm glad i read this one, because i'm glad someone else feels EXACTLY the way i do, i have been thinking the same thing for the past few weeks i've been getting into them, and he really knows his way around the guitar for singer/songwriters purposes. the first result for thanks bastards (live) is a perfect example of this. in absence of the instruments on the album he fills in the melodies with awesome chords and dissonances to fill in the gaps, love him.
I love how he tears disney and starbucks a new one with this song. Somebody needed to call him out for ruining small towns. Companies take over rural areas and it destroys the local culture.
I love this kid. I bet he was raised by a grandparent. My grandmother was just bitching about the new coffee/internet bar in town when I went home for Christmas. What a hip throwback. I love him.

This is the closest man we have to Bob Dylan these days. He's poetic and true.

I love Erik, but Ryan adams is the closest we have to ryan adams. Heartbreaker is a classic and reminds me of Old bob.
