The really nice thing is that you can see that he's feeling the music as he's playing it--he's really moved by what he's doing. That's certainly not something you'd ever get from an E. Power Biggs performance. Of anything.

Echt gelungen. Anlässlich meiner Mitwirkung an einer Tonaufnahme an der Ladegast-Orgel in der Schloßkirche zu Wittenberg habe ich mich sehr mit diesem Stück befasst - und eine ganz ähnliche Interpretation gehört. Die Progressio Harmonica passt hierzu auch wie zu keinem anderen Stück, wiewohl sie Mendelssohn selbst wohl kaum zur Verfügung gestanden haben wird. Interpretation, Registrierung etc. wirklich sehr, sehr gelungen.

@Dorforgler Bei diesem Stück kann man schon ohne Setzer auskommen. Später nicht mehr unbedingt. Es spricht btw. auch gar nichts gegen einen Setzer, deshalb klingt die Musik ja nicht anders.

Was für ein wunderbares Instrument. Ich liebe alle Orgelsonaten von Mendelsohn. Für den Erhalt dieser Orgel sollte man alles tun. Kenne Schramberg sehr gut, auch die Späth-Orgel dort. Zur inerpretaion der Orgelsonate gibt es nichts hinzuzufügen. Hervorragendes Spiel mit sehr viel Gefühl und perfekter Technik. Und das ganz ohne "Stoppuller" - Kompliment, Weiter so !!!!!

I have heard it said (on a certain English discussion group) that this performance is too ponderous and slow. After listening to it several times and comparing it with other performances, I must say that I much prefer Sebastian's over the typical "dynamic" approach. At this tempo one can savour the harmonic progressions and tone of the music, which one cannot do with the standard lets-get-this-over-with approach. I hear plenty of energy and propulsion in this performance.

@Rankett16 As I wander to this clip the thumbnail I click on almost looks like a living room with an electronic organ. The full-size window appears and I read the details of the posting while my peripheral vision sees an organist sitting so still I wonder if he's actually going to play! Then the first phrase of five notes comes out and the music finishes itself with reverberation. My living room idea goes into the trash. Slightly slow fits this setting majestically. Wonderful playing!

@Rankett16 I would like you to notice that before Maestoso it is written Con moto, so the indication focuses on Con moto FIRST and Maestoso THEN. This performance would be acceptable only in case of Maestoso Con moto, but this is not the intent of the composer, so it is incorrect. Definitely too slow for the correct dynamic indication.

Magnifique, quel plaisir de voir un jeune organiste mettant de l'émotion de son jeux et son touché. C'est tellement rare. Beaucoup essaie de joué sans faute. Quand a vous, vous joué sans faute et avec émotion. C'est ce qui fait la différence entre les bons organistes et les très bons organistes.
