No matter how great Joice is, he's reputation as a great Smith is lost for ever because of the law suites. But i think Morrissey and Marr are not very fair saying their not really Smiths. Thats just, i dont know why they did that...
dude if I was getting what 10% of a bands total earnings, out of a 4 man band, and I was a member since the beginning, I would sue to..I
I mean, Joyce and Rourke were getting a combined 20%, and Marr and Morrisey together got a little less then 80% combined...(I assume the managers get a cut...)
thats bull, I mean Its awesome to see Rourke settle out of court but, heck if Rourke didn't and went with Joyce, Joyce wouldn't have lost face.
Morrissey and Marr are the songwriters! They're the ones that make you cry, or make you laugh! Rourke was a very good bassist, but Joyce was a lame drummer. Rumour has it that Marr even showed Joyce what to do on the drums!
regardless they were still there for the entire existence of the band. They could be the worse players ever...but they were still in the band for the long haul.
Cause they were screwed out of a total of 30% for close to 15 years. While Marr and Morrisey made millions off of residual record sales and compilations.
this is just one opinion but I believe to answer the question of the curious chap I feel its about how pretty girls can break the hearts of men who never get over it and possibly commit suicide over rejection? maybe being to literal but I think so
Can anyone please explain to me the term "pretty girls make graves". I dont get what he means. They are digging graves or what?, it makes no sense to me. My english is limited, can someone help?
they/women hurt(easily).she wants sex,but he doesnt want so fast and then she is with another man real fast.and her stupid smile shows her superficial character
"pretty girls make graves" was in reference to how kerouac perceived women as the direct cause of death. and yeah it's from kerouac's the dharma bums.
@LewisKiernan You correct them with "Rumour has it that Marr even showed Joyce what to do on the drums!", that's not correcting it's having the arrogance to be bigoted
28 years later, and we're still enjoying this.

I really understand Morrisey in this song, like the dissapointment in the opposite sex sometimes - it´s such a universal feeling

But at the end of the legend, they sue their band! Hardly fair is it?

I adore the Troy Tate version of this, which Marr remastered (or rather mastered fullstop) for 'Sound of ...'
I hope so much he remasters the entire Tate album, not to mention the four studio albums and the compilations.
Genius.
rherrick123 2 years ago
yes, the tate version is truely version.
especially morrissey's voice, one of his best.
