  • What a tough theme. Well done Paul !!!

  • “Love is the one thing that money can't buy.”

  • As John once asked of Paul, "How do you sleep?"

    My sentiments exactly.

  • So which one of them is John?

  • wrong pitch he was faster in the mono version

  • Fantastic voice

  • It doesn't sound right to me without George and John, Rest In Peace George Harrison and John Lennon!<3

  • you gotta admit, Abe does a really good job here!

  • enough with the comments about the lack of an orchestra. can you imagine what a hassle it would be to do a full tour with that many musicians? and did you ever think that maybe some of the stages they play on aren't large enough to accommodate so many musicians? a rock concert including a full orchestra is something that can only happen once in a while

  • @konaninapaperbox Who's Pepper?

  • sooooooooooooo beautiful!

  • GENUE

  • @potus22 I guess you misunderstood...I used the word mediocrity in reference to the electronic production of 'strings'...instead of using a quartet, which was brilliant in the original. Not in reference to Paul, whom I revere, but his particular decision in this case. He could afford a string quartet, come on, and why call names? Where's that gonna get ya?

  • Comment removed

  • @hexcane You're not very smart, are you? Paul could add a string and horn section, keep ticket prices where they are, and still walk away with major profits. Stop sucking satan's cock.

  • Sorry guys but Paul doesn't need a lot of backup. He has an amazing voice and this was absolutely beautiful to listen too. I love when I can actually hear him sing. This is one of the best versions of this song. Great job, Sir Paul ( the real and only one by the way) can listen to him all day,,, every day. PLease stay engaged and not marry again. love you

  • damn, that drummer, awesome voice

  • 23 people don't have guts to leaving home.

  • Nobody does string quartets anymore...or orchestras. It costs too much and in Paul's case...too much time involved! Laziness! Lord knows he's got the money to be awesome, but he choses mediocrity!!!

  • @Freakfolker im sorry but don't ever use the word mediocrity to describe Paul McCartney again, that's one word you can't use to describe this man, its just not logical to hire a horn section to come out to play one song when your touring 50 to 60 dates or more, you stupid hamsters anus. when you have written the songs this man has and touched the lives of million of people through music then you can criticize, until then shut the fuck up.

  • @joshua45p Well, in that case I prepfer "williom" anyway :o)

  • @joshua45p First of all it's "William Campbell" and secondly yes it is Paul McCartney stupid

  • @joshua45p No he isn't! Don't say that! :O

  • @joshua45p so it was also William who sung the original in '67 so what the fuss?

  • @joshua45p don't you mean William Campbell not williom bambell.

  • Comment removed

  • @joshua45p you watched that stupid video apparently.......if your a beatle fan in any way you'd know that, that wasn't george's voice in that video...and its completely false....PAUL McCartney is a genius.

  • @joshua45p are you stupid?think about it how can one of the beatles, four of the most famous people in the world, die,be buried and replaced without no one knowing?and plus paul mccartney is the most sucsessfull songwriter in history.and what about his brother?(can,t remember his name, micheal i think)he would have or the remaining beatles would have said something by now,you can,t just go and find another p mccartney. hes not dead.thats him in the video.

  • But as many of you pointed out, to tour with a large orchestra costs BIG, BIG bucks (most orchestras are part of a musicians union today), and what do you do with them for the majority of the concert which is straight rock n roll with just the band? They sit there and enjoy the show, holding their violin bows and oboes while watching Paul rock out to I Saw Her Standing There and Get Back, but meanwhile he's paying them..... not a smart business move.

  • For many of the Beatles greatest tracks from basically Revolver through Magical Mystery Tour, they used a very large contingent of accompanying musicians. That was due, in part, to the fact that George Martin could easily access them with his connections and work on other more classical and easy listening music that he produced at EMI. Most rock bands of the era were lucky to have an extra piano player for their recordings, and the Beatles had anything they wanted on hand.

  • I want to cry

  • He can still fucking sing. Jesus Christ.

  • Nothing like all of them, but alas, what can we do? Thankfully Paul sang lead or co-lead on most of The Beatles' songs and can play multiple instruments, so we can still enjoy the "essence" of The Beatles, with an actual member who was one. For me, Paul is more than just The Beatles and has been for quite some time.... Keep going Paul!

  • Nothing like John's Chorus u.u

  • Great trailer man!! going to download this in downloadmusic .im

  • A priceless and beautiful live performance of one of Paul's best creations. 23 people did not like this .... ? That's ridiculous.

  • ...

  • i love him :D and the song too <3

  • This story mirrors one in my family. My cousin Joann ran away to be with her boyfriend. One half the family didn't talk to the other half of the family for the rest of their lives, because my family put her up and helped her out.

Screw your whining about the arrangements. It's a brilliant song. Sod off!

  • 24 people left home. Bye Bye!!

  • to recreate the exact sound would take a lot of people and organisation.for that reason procol harum dont cart around a grand piano anymore.there could be time constraints as well.

paul on his own will never be the beatles anyway

  • Im not an idiot. What are your musical qualifications to make that sort of assertion? Where do you get that idea? I was merely suggesting that it would be nice to hear the real instruments instead of samplers. And yes, I do think McCartney cares what the song is played on. I think he probably still cares about about sonic quality in his performances. "he just wants to jam?"- He's not "jamming", he's performing the exact arrangement from the Sgt. Peppers.

  • this song is beautiful. and paul still sounds amazing in this video

  • I don't get something. No doubt a classic song, classic performance. Beautiful melancholy mood etc. etc. The greatest musical influence on popular music etc. etc. no doubt. My question: how come super mega gazziolionaires guys like McCartney resort to recreating the beautiful earthy strings and horns on the original recordings with cheezy samplers? I don't get it, it can't be budget...Paul, carry a three piece horn section and a string quartet on your next tour.

  • @selmansax Good point I guess, Wings had an epic horn section in the 70s. But there could be any number of reasons that they didn't do it here. This band was a fresh line-up at this point, maybe they just wanted to build band morale by doing everything themselves or... I don't know.

  • @kashmir87 You also got to give Paul "Wix" Wiggins credit for duplicating so perfectly the brass and strings on his keyboards that would have otherwise been used. He really shines on "Penny Lane."

  • @kashmir87 Okay I agree, but a 3 piece horn section on a 50-60 date tour to come out and do 1 song, yes he has the money but its not very logical

  • @selmansax Well, I just saw him in Buenos AIres and thought the same. But as someelse suggested maybe he really doesnt want to cope with more musicians and rather be a few member solid band only. Yet, imagine how you can feel when hearing Emily Rigby essential string arrangements triggered by a keyboard!!!

  • @kerova2705 Its Eleanor Rigby..not Emily

  • @kerova2705 Yes I love that song 'Emily Rigby'. "Ah look at all the popular people, where do they all come from. Emily Rigby sits in the pub where she has loads of friends la la la, not her like her loser no-mates sister Eleanor la la la. Waits at the window, under a light so the guys can see what's on offer la la la. Ah look at all the popular people ". Yeah a keyboard would spoil that.

  • @selmansax Sure. And don't forget the harp. Sir Paul's music would still be outstanding if his band only played washing boards and spoons. The keys don't take anything away from the studio version. Many of his songs make me weep. With, or without, the full orchestra.

  • @joemichaels1

"The keys don't take anything away from the studio version"-yes they don't take anything away from the songs and the emotion, but in a timbral sense....you can't effectively sample a cello...A/B the original with this version and perhaps my point will be sonically clearer.

  • @selmansax you sir are an idiot. you really think he cares what the song is played on at this point? did you ever think he just wants to jam?

  • @selmansax Um, do you know how much it costs to take a 3 piece horn section and string quartet for a whole tour? Paul would have to pay for their travel expenses, their performances and other incidentals. And while Paul makes a lot of money, he also has bills to pay, just like anyone else. Big mansions, fancy cars and such need upkeep my friend.

  • @romeokid69 I think Paul could afford to carry a 3 piece horn section. He's beyond rich. It's not about budget.

  • @selmansax I guess that's why there's the Fab Faux!

  • @selmansax

He can`t afford the strings ??

    Ha ha ha just joking.

    You are right-

    All the best

    Chimbo

    Chimbos Revival

  • @selmansax Why should he? Live performances are rarely as good as studio recordings. People don't come for exact replicas of the music. They go to be in the presence of artists they like and because they like spontaneity. It's good enough.

  • @Jermybug Speak for yourself pal. Real musicians like to hear real instruments. That was my point.

Spontaneity? He's covering the tune exactly like the record, where is the spontaneity? Good enough?

No wonder the business of using real instruments has gone down the crapper.

  • 'casue it cost a fortune to tour a big band. More people... less profit.

  • @selmansax Couldn't agree more. I've been saying that to my friends for some years now...

  • @selmansax its not about money this fella could afford any orchestra its about being practical its much easier to set up a keyboard than having 20 other people on stage

  • @selmansax Good point, indeed. However, having samples sounding so damn realistic nowadays (can't deny that), I guess it's logistically easier to do it that way. If I were Paul (HUGE LAUGH!), I'd use the samples too. Being a musician, I would understand. Cheers.

  • absolutley fantastic , the way they have put this over , just so nice that these songs can be done live, i know its not the full band,(the beatles)but you got to say its really good

  • La plupart des Beatles belle chanson jamais, bien fait!

  • most underrated beatels song. my favourite! :)

  • @TheMartinOwens ob la di ob la da was voted the worst song of all time once. that sucks...

  • @beansterman1998

That doesn't seem right. Yes We Can is a much, much worse song than that.

  • @TheRandomfanboy i saw it on the bbc website

  • MORAISITO O FUGITIVO - the best!!

  • W-O-W!!!!!

  • Is In México!!!

  • dang pauls getting old : ) : ) long live the beatles!

  • Does anybody know how to play the intro?

  • Comment removed

  • Sheila Bromberg - the harpist on the original recording.

  • No, I mean... I can't see how the intro is played on the guitar and I was wondering if anybody know in which fret it is played and how the strumming goes.

  • actually its lead guitarist Rusty whos singing the other words- Abe the drummer is the ooohhh part

  • A LUZ DA MANHÃ - VERSÃO DE CÉSAR LEITÃO ''SHE'S LEAVING HOME '' NO YOUTUBE.

  • I love his delicate phrasing

  • wow.

  • Damn that drummer can sing

  • @shatowboy Isn't he beautiful? His name is Abe. He's great on Eleanor Rigby too.

  • It's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Notice how Paul enunciates, "picks up the LEDDER that's lying there," like an American, and not "LETTER," like a Brit, as it was on record.

    One of time's little changes.

  • Jazz singer Al Jarreau, of all people, sings the most amazing cover I've ever heard of this song. Masterful composition...

  • 1. Tax Man

    2. She's Leaving Home

    3. Michelle

  • Simply beautiful...like Paul...inside and out.

  • Tge Beatles are the best band ever- single best band not one guy better than the other. Wings is cool too and it takes a band to make and play a song not 1 guy

  • RIP, Pepper

This song will always remind me of you now<3333

  • he stilllllll got ittttt. heh =)

  • paul was the first dude to inspire my band!

  • What a dreamy song...could we please have it in a better sound?

  • @ArnyLitheman it's on the "Back in the Us" tour DVD

  • the estructure of the song lirycly and musicly are amazin

hard to belive that its from the 60's

sry for the bad english (:

  • NO TIME song !

  • ageless

  • paul mccartney is too good

  • Great song, and I am one who had to go back and reconsider my negative stance on the Beatles. I still think their fame overshadowed their true talent in terms of the playing field at the time. That being said they have some beautiful songs that lasted the test of time. As a musician I think they got better over the years but I still dont consider them to be super guru's of their instruments. Al Jarreau has a rendition of this song to die for. check it out

  • @lookafterlove I am a very big fan of The Beatles, but I agree with you: none of them were the best on their instruments (although Paul was a very good bass). The magic of The Beatles, from my point of view, is that they created new music, new grounds where to build, from pop to hard rock, and even electronic.

  • @DG20051 TRUE

  • PAUL IS A MUSICAL GOD

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! AWESOME song. Thank you SIR PAUL!!! LOVE U FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER! ;-)

  • this song depresses me

  • Sigh. I miss John. It's close, but it's not the same without him and the rest of them.

  • @stephkills , Be glad that we still have PAUL! Thank GOD!

  • @MrSharkey11 I know, but the day Paul dies... I don't want to even think about it. I'll most likely spend the rest of the week in the fetal position on my bed crying my eyes out.

  • Great song, but this is a dreary version.

Maccas voice ,the backing band , the synths all wrong

Did he ever have a good backing band , other than the Beatles? Hes better Solo

  • amazing song..

  • The drummer in this band reminds me a lot of Steve Ferrone, who is Tom Petty's drummer.

  • McCartney is closer to 70!

  • @TheTzdope

    not in the video...

  • @TheTzdope Actually, he's 67.

  • Damn, Paul is amazing, he still has that wonderful voice. Cool thing i'm going to his concert in april...

  • no one like paul

  • this song is amazing!! this version is great too its just I don' think its the same without John

  • I love this guy! This is magic

  • I guess Paul's about 60 yrs. old in this live performance. I'm quite impressed with how close his voice sounds to what it did 40 years ago. Other examples of those who have kept their voice over the long haul:

    Mick Jagger.......NO

    Roger Daltry......NO

    Brian May...........Maybe

Can anyone here add to this list?

  • @tripleJ1955

Sting's voice has got better in my opinion...

  • true but maybe that has more to do with his songs getting better

  • @tripleJ1955

    micheal jackson....r.i.p micheal

  • @tripleJ1955 Geddy Lee of Rush could be added.

  • agreed.

  • Sting!! although he's about 10 years younger. But when I saw The Police at MSG on Halloween night 2007, I was blown away. Sting's voice sounded EXACTLY THE SAME as it did nearly 30 years ago! I swear he coud re-record the entire Police catalog and you'd never know.

  • lets all say this all the 4 beatles were the best

  • A masterpiece, their finest song as far as I'm concerned. Truly prodigious musical skill. One of the best songs ever written, definitely. Cheers!

  • paul and john could have done all studio work by themselves with martin

  • Exactly, Bronsted. Well said.

  • every one needs to chill out here. None of the beatles exist without the other 3. that's what makes them the beatles. paul would be the first to admit that his greatest oevre was circa 1960 to 1970, never to be replicated afterward. the greatest rock / pop band of the 20th century

  • @bronsted123 .. 21st ... 22nd ..and counting

  • @bronsted123 Oh I disagree, you should listen to Paul McCartney/St.Petersburg 2005, that was some good stuff.

  • @bronsted123 More like the greatest band ever. I totally agree with you friend.

  • Paul and the rest of the band did an amazing job recreating the original version as close as they did. Ditto for Eleanor Rigby.

  • ringo contributed to the most sucessful rockband ever, look at hits such as Octopus's garden, nono song, yellow submarine. get your facs straight

  • Listen to The Beatles with Pete Best on drums - Anthology 1 - they don't even sound like The Beatles - Ringo gave them their unique beat.

  • Actually I have heard that John went in the studio and re recorded lots of drums. Nonetheless, Ringo was a BIG part of the mix!!!!

  • John Lennon NEVER played drums.Paul played drums on a couple of songs when Ringo was not available but whoever told you John played drums is sorely mistaken.

  • You are right, John NEVER played drums, and Paul did on occasion. He actually did quite often in the later years as they were breaking up. Paul did drums, bass, lead guitar, and backup vocals on the Ballad of John and Yoko. He also brought in a near complete demo of Golden Slumbers during the Abbey Road sessions. In the Anthology, Paul was in the studio with George Martin, Ringo, and George Harrison talking about the fact Paul had done all the overdubs himself and George remarked "he was king!"

  • I think Paul also played piano on "John and Yoko."

  • @1olrocker

I remember Paul having to drums at one point on a recording when Ringo temporarily quit. When he decided to come back, There were flowers on his drum set. I wonder who from?? =)

  • actually, lennon and mccartney wrote yellow submarine

  • @theyearwas1764

my mistake , well he did sing the sing the damn song

  • Yeah, Ringo was the second best drummer in the Beatles. (and no, Im not talking about Pete)

  • Oh you bastard, Paul was not better than Ringo! Never!

  • @Herringish Haha! well placed lol/i agree

  • Great , Great Vídeo!

  • when wii paul tour the united states again?

  • simply love.

  • wow you are so great!!! i see you 9 december in gelderdome Paul!!

  • Occasionally, Paul would stray from the bubble gum silly love songs and compose meaningful prose. This is one of his best.

  • Great job Paul.

  • He's awesome. Check out Robin Zander (Cheap Trick); he hits those high notes by himself.

  • I saw the show in Antwerp... really amazing, I shivered when He remembered the Beatles by posting photo's of them on the big screen behind him.

  • Bye Bye, Sad

  • wow...paul still got his awsome vouce man, that just kicks ass

  • he is such a beautiful man, really<33

  • I don't like Beatles, but this song is really incredible, beautiful, perfect, fantastic. Thank you for this video.

  • good to see paul still finds it necessary to play this stuff. It deserves to be played.

  • Still a great song 40 years on.

  • beautiful

  • wonderful

  • This song is almost impossible to play live compared to the incredible version on Sgt Pepper. That cd wasn't made to play live imo. But Paul did a pretty good job despite this.

  • Such an amazing song. Can never beat the original. Don't care how many covers are done.

  • Such an underrated song. Paul sounds amazing still !

  • The hopey changey thing isn't working for me yet either. Yes we can? We can what?

  • Comment removed

  • HA! WELL SAID! Thanks you so much! lol. It all comes down to that one simple wuestion doesn't it? "We can't what?"

  • what do the song says??

  • It's about a girl running away from a wealthy home. It was based on a true story that Paul read about in the papers.

  • I love the beautiful sounds of the cord instruments and harmony of voices of Paul and John of the original version. But this is also beautifully executed - in a different way. Wish I could have listened it there in LA
