I re-watched the behind the scene of the first trilogy a year ago.It felt like the years went so fast since then; I remembered all the excitement that those movies created at what an amazing team that made them. I also felt the sadness when watching the dvd and Peter shot the very last scene of ROTK. Its so cool that that original team is now ALL BACK TOGETHER making the Hobbit!! And there's still plenty of Tolkien stories to be put on the big screen!

The destruction of the trees, the stealing of the silmarils by Morgoth, the fight between the elves at the harbour, the various dagorlad battles at Thangorodrim, the actual stealing of the silmaril by Beren and Luthien, the life of Turin, the voyage of Elendil and the Final battle between Morgoth and the forces from Valinor. Loads and loads of action.

I think Peter Jackson's the Stephen Spielberg of our generation. :) Not to say that Spielberg's spark is dwindling - far from it; That 'Adventures of Tintin' movie looks freakin' incredible (and it's so cool that he and Jackson are working together on that film series).

Makes Avatar look like an amatuer job.

In fact the Lord of the Rings trilogy was and still is superior to Avatar.

It had a bigger budget, but stretched to show a larger world with an even more epic scope. It had a more deeper, complex world to portray, created by the life & essence of Tolkien compared to Cameron's mere childhood fantasy. A perfect balance between CGI & grit reality.

I think The Hobbit will remind us what the real frontrunner on the magnificence of cinema was & always had been.
