"Holding an ITV franchise used to be called a license to print money. No longer." Well, it's kind of hard to make money off an ITV franchise when you are paying money to run them ALL. ITV holds the contracts for all regions in England and Wales... that's hardly like the days of LWT, Thames and Yorkshire who had a respective region to worry about. ITV is stretching itself thin.
Sad days for us in the Westcountry lost TSW in 1992 to this rubbish which the building is now knocked down which was an iconic building with memories of Gus Hunnybun. Now this show and company being axed in Devon with another building empty and the news programe now from Bristol isnt at all local to us anymore. RIP ITV SOUTH WEST
ITV is nothing more than a waste, its creation made by Carlton and Granada. The Broadcasting act should have never been modified, even though radio stations are changing hands like theres no tomorrow.

I'm not from the west country (or even England for that matter) but I find these plans ridiculous.
"Viewers won't notice." Have never heard such rubbish. We certainly noticed when HTV Wales turned into ITV1 Wales, so why wouldn't the viewers from the west country notice? Stupid woman.
I find the loss of regional identities has hampered what ITV was meant to be based on in the first place. But I'll stop now before I begin to rant ;)
"Viewers won't notice" - Well they will because the first 15 minutes of "The West Country Tonight" either has a Suspension bridge in the background, or the bridge they used on Westcountry News! Then after approximately 15 minutes, they use that horrible blue/green background.

it all went wrong when the license that tsw held ended in 1992 that was a truly independent broadcaster, i never watch itv now it's beyond a joke.
