I have a habit of drawing a curved line when trying to draw a straight one. Not like your first one of course, but the line as a while is in a curve, which as anything but useful for what I need it for. Yet I can't seems to get myself to get and actual straight one, or at least closer to it. Guess I need more practice
@LanceDH You might do what I do, draw from the elbow. That will give a curve every time. At least it does for me. Seems you have to draw with your entire arm without pivoting the elbow joint at all. So freakishly hard..
You are not crazy. Something has happened to the video sync. They were fine for the past four years. Will need to send in a trouble ticket to YouTube.
Thanks, looking at the second marker helped a lot and avoiding looking at the pencil tip, I was pretty sure my production sketching instructor didn't mention those.
great vids! but would it be (hope not)incorrect or arrogant to say; dont use any techniques, just spend years and years of practicing...freehand. you can draw anything with enough practice. like a trial-and-error thing.
@negativethoughts i have to disagree with you on that point. theres good ways to draw and bad ways to draw. after all you were shown what a pencil IS and techniques to use it. Theres only so much a person can think of without someone else's input. you even have to be taught what is good and what isn't. otherwise you would do a child's drawing and think it was good, else you would see a better one and try to COPY it ;)
@mandowarrior123 hey there! thanks. But, after years of hard practicing you would find the good ways and stop the bad ways, no? However I would say, someone else's input can help a person's drawing skills alot! Hehe!-Mayby I AM doing child's drawings and thinking they're good xD
Doesnt change the fact: These vids are excellent. :)
@negativethoughts Hahaha thats true. or maybe everyone else is doing the childs drawing ;D yeah they are good, although my father showed me alot of it these give all methods and what not
you don't need to start with feathering or whatever the name is....you just start the good way, which is drawing continuous lines and another and another and keep trying to make them parallel and if you don't get them well you just draw another one on top of the bad one....and if you draw constantly you'll get better....but starting with the feathering is wrong, you just start the right way with nice continuous lines no matter how not straight and not parallel they are at first. u'll get better
Rulers would only give paralell lines if you kept it at the same exact angle each time, and it's easier to be able to draw a decent line without any other implement.
very helpful, I'm studying in industrial design and i find that really well explained, should be recommended to people who want to learn sketching from home. Good work!
