  • ya mine does that, good thing i live in texas and dont have to do really cold starts

  • i just had the same problem with my truck, it sounds the same, but after driving for a while to the shop, it sounded normal, i was wondering how much did you spend getting it fix? and if its worted getting it fix or just get rid of it. thanks

  • @awomensmystery its not fixed. i pulled the topend apart and going to pull the shortblock now. if i were you id get a fuel pressure gauge, change the injetors, and make sure you maintain good pressure.

  • @sspeedemonss ok thanks, but i just got it cheked with the computer from ford, and its the dashboard... well the computer were all the gauges are in the dashboard, thats whats making mine do this, and it has another computer that is messed up too, i ont know bout yours but mine is stuck in 3rd gear and i have to turn the key 3 times and on the 3rd time i start it and it works fine for a while.

  • Why do you think your glowplugs are bad?

  • @mikey0himself

that was my old diagnosis. the top half of the engine is out and the shortblock is coming out shortly. getting a full build. at least one bad injector that was easily seen. GPCM and FICM will be getting replaced and well as most other things

  • did you do the swap yet?...If so How'd it go

  • @lifebeginsat190

no, i want to get rid of the truck and get an OBS.

  • ur puttin a cummins in this bitch? cummins are great engines, but man.... i dk i think id b cool if u put the 7.3

  • that is the most retarded comment ever. why would i want to go backwards?

  • @sspeedemonss going backwards?!?! theres no going "backwards" in comparison to a 6.0 diesel. I realy hope you don't think the 6.0 is a better engine than a 7.3. In terms of reliability the 7.3 is right up there with the cummins. ive seen them fuckin 7.3s with 500+K on em n u can still get the lonegevity out of em even when modded as fuck. can't go wrong at all wit the 7.3. but whateva u do im sure is gonna be a bad ass truck.

  • i dont want a boat anchor of a motor so ill stick with the cummins. reliability is something i want but i also want 650+ HP and thats not gonna happen with the 7.3. well, not on my budget. the p-pumped cummins is the way to go.

  • @sspeedemonss ahhh yea that 455ci engines a big mother fucker. I don't know about the attainable performance of the cummins engine other than they're one of the most reliable engines out there. Good luck with the swap and if everything works out ur gonna have a pretty good fuckin truck for years to come.

  • 455ci? are you referring to the 7.3? if so its a 444ci. hence the international name, T444E.

  • do u have head studs in that beast

  • nope, but there's going to be a cummins in its place real soon.

  • sweet thanks man i looked them up they sound like there the way to go so i think i may have to order some up and thanks again

  • just took my truck in was shit starting and all sputtery and mising like well injectors here i come lol do you know of any good after market ones i should put in that are better than stock but are not going to dump huge fuel

  • elite diesel, casserly, RCD. look them up

  • there is an update from ford that cycles the injectors for 30 seconds after you shut your truck off. its to help during next start up. if you have this then most likely your injector solenoids are stuck on open so it dumps fuel when not supposed to. only cure is to have a scanner to determine what cylinders and then replace them.

  • yes, the inductive heating fkash, the FICM killer. ive actually determined that its GPs.

    Garrett

  • sounds like there is a bad injector i hear a miss

  • i have a 6.0 powerstroke and i have to cycle it 3 times when cold. i found out there was a sencor on the intake manafold or somthing telling the gloplugs how cold it was so they heatup and it was shot but no big deal i jus have to cycle it... and if its not that look at your harness for th glo plugs if its wires turned green then its shot

  • Check FICM volts. Seen this problem couple of times. Hard start up then runs rough then smooths out when warm. Your volts should read KOEO LPWR: batt MPRW 45-48v VPWR batt. If not it needs a FICM

  • and then if if still doesnt run 100% when warmed up? ill just change my injectors and go from there. thank you tho.

  • Mine does the same thing still havent got it fixed, does do that all the time or just at start up?

  • only on cold start ups. or when the truck is cold i should say.

  • JRFFRB---you dont have to wait on that light if its 75* outside. Or if its already warmed up.

And have you fixed the truck yet? What was arong with it? Kinda sounds like bad glow plug(s) or injector o-rings.

  • i think its the injectors. but those are going to have to wait, fuel pump just went out. gettin complete replacement with aftermarket. then i will be able to supply enough fuel for the new injectors.

  • do you wait for the "WAIT TO START" light go out before you turn her over?? cause that could be your prob right there.

  • yeah, im not a retard. i even cycle it 2-3 times.

  • i run 5w 40 syn in my 06 and i live in colorado, never had problems with mine starting yet! well when i forgot to turn my chip off it took a min or two to start but othere then that its been great!

  • you need to get that 15w-40 out of it. and go to your nearest ford dealer for the latest calibration. 10w-30 is the reccomended weight in the 6.0 it is all i run in mine. and it makes a big difference. it also helps im a ford diesel tech. (not to sound like a prick). it can all be fixed. i would bet the glow plugs and base engine are fine.

  • A 16 year old certified Ford Diesel Tech? LOL that's the funniest thing I've ever heard of.

  • 10W 30 is only recommended when the outside temp is below 10 to 30 degrees F.

  • Is your FICM connector loose?

  • not likely. it's fine once it is warmed up.

  • What you need is Elite Diesel Stage 2 Injectors and Stage 3 Fuel System for your truck. Plus Bosch Glow Plugs with Duraterm Technology and you will be set my friend okay if you need to know my email look on GetBent4561 Profile and it will tell you what is is okay thanks

  • naw, my solution is to sell it and get a 12v

  • Thats a good fix.

  • cant be EGR, sct has that turned off and the uppipe is welded shut. only on start up. the other day it kept smokin for about 3 mins while it was idling warming up. but it was like 40* out.

  • i truck smokes a bit for a while, but i start it up in the teen temps all the time. Ya you got a glow plug, or injector prob. i have had 1 injector replaced in 54,000 miles.

  • oh wait.. I just noticed the 75*.. hmm.... EGR valve stuck partially open, also sounded like it took a very long time for the turbo vanes to close up when you started it on re-listening to the video. Does it continue to smoke white while driving, or just on Start-up?

  • Sticking injectors cold is a common issue with the 6.0, it look slike you've got a couple of plugs out as well as the sticking injector/s (sounds like just one, but maybe more)

Add a lubricity additive (non ash 2 cycle engine oil is good, or Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube is good as well) to your fuel for one tank, and it should go away while the additive is in there, confirming the injector/s sticking.

  • I would be more concerned with the white smoke than the sticking injector/s right now, I know of an 03 6.0(03 now!) that has about 300k on all 8 of it's original injectors, it runs like crap for about 2-3 minutes when cold started, but it runs fine otherwise - the miss DOES clear up after it begins to warm, right?
