@gowayne123 you can watch it online for free. search for "project free tv the west wing", and it's also on a website called tehcake, and videosurf. I just watched all 7 seasons like 3 times. Careful, it's addictive.
CJ's unmoving "Oh, *shit*" expression after Bartlet tells her he can't move his legs is really just amazing. This whole scene made my chest tighten really painfully. It appears that a few vestiges of the atmospheric brilliant early seasons lingered on throughout the series, thankfully.
@grumpytosnowwhite She knew of his condition and was probably expecting it to happen sooner or later. Also, she was the White House press secretary and was used to a daily barrage from reporters. She had a skin so thick it was practically bulletproof.
@jrcasselman I know that -- but still, the slow shock as she realizes that this is actually happening for real at the worst possible time...what can I say? Allison is an amazing actress.
@grumpytosnowwhite That's right she is. Remember that CJ had a sick father as well. When you have these things is your family, you learn to anticipate them so can be in control when the worst happens.
@jrcasselman That's so right. You can almost see the professionalism kicking into high gear to stifle the horror as she absorbs the information -- never any falling apart from her. These characters were so perfectly honed it made everything they did onscreen interesting to watch.
One thing I loved about the West Wing was that Barlett did the same thing that every president goes through while in office: the aging process. Look at Bush and Clinton when they were sworn in and look at them before they left office. Martin Sheen aged with the part.

Why was air force one over the pacific (as stated by the capt.)? DC to China goes over the Arctic ocean, right? Were those clowns on the west coast for something or was a nigger flying the plane?
Seeing that none of those countries have agreed to any of their own terms, the US is acting in the common interest for the world; North Korea with actual nuclear weapons is a hell of alot scarier that Iraq with fictional nuclear weapons.
1 "The North Koreans are our brothers--they would never truly harm us. Watch them respond favourably to our patience, incentives, more patience and more incentives."
and
2 "Help! They are abusing our patience, they take our incentives without giving any in return! And they use all their funds to build more nuclear weapons which are pointed at us and a bigger army just across our border!"
China does not give a damn about what happens to DPRK, even about regime collapse, as long as it does not result in a rush of economic refugees and renegade ex-soldiers across their border.
China cares even less about ROK.
And China neither fears nor mourns a decimated Japan--it fears a Japan rearming itself in defence against DPRK.
It would be indisputably better for America if everyone else took care of their own affairs--solving their problems, or keeping the consequences of unsolved ones within their own backyard, without harming American citizens and allies.
Thanks for posting this. And that is not a sarcastic, glib statement. As An MS patient, or MSer as I like to call it, this entire episode, one of my favorite, outlines my worst nightmare. But watching it from time to time does help believe it or not. Especially this scene. So thanks.
To have laid there in the dark all alone realizing what was happening *shudders*

@Reqrezentin Yes. Bartlet regained upper body mobility en route. But still couldn't walk. He had to negotiate with the Chinese from a wheelchair.

IT is reveled during the shooting episode, but in the story line it says about two years before that.

It was revealed before that, in the 10th episode in season 1.

In the "beforetime". In the timespan of the series, not including flashbacks, he had always had it.

The U.S. should stop intervening and let Japan, ROK, and China deal with the DPRK government on their own terms.

ROK flips and flops between
1 "The North Koreans are our brothers--they would never truly harm us. Watch them respond favourably to our patience, incentives, more patience and more incentives."
and

Unbelievable as it is to your prejudices and demonisations, much of America is suffering from BENEVOLENCE-FATIGUE--
|| caring less about women and children
|| beaten, starved and slaughtered
|| halfway across the globe, ...
but more about
|| armed and suicidal men--and women--
|| coming to its shores to cause carnage.

It would be indisputably better for America if everyone else took care of their own affairs--solving their problems, or keeping the consequences of unsolved ones within their own backyard, without harming American citizens and allies.
But in the real world, that is akin to suggesting
> "Airlines and travel agents 'should stop'
> making money out of us who want to travel
> --'and let' us all just flap our arms and fly
> to wherever we want to go 'on our own terms'."
