There's no way in hell a full bolt on, cai, tuned z06 should be anywhere close to losing to a mid 12 second mustang, when it can pull high 11s with only cai and drag radial tires.

@apachewraith It's all driver dependent, obviously, but nearly every review of the (405 HP) C5Z clocked the quarter in 12.1-12.5, with a good deal of them (and the more reputable ones at that) placing them in the low low 12's. I'm not arguing that your car isn't fast (it is- I haven't been able to afford a "fast" car since high school when I picked on Civics in my modded low 14's Beretta GTZ (not really that fast, but hey)), I'm just saying that the C5Z is capable, stock, of going faster.

I am a mustang fan but fact is fact bolt on mustangs can make about 290hp-325hp and a 100 shot your really only lookin at 400hp which is about what a C5 zo6 has stock you add headers, cat-back , cold air , xpipe , and a turn your lookin at another 40 to 70hp more so a 400hp mustang vs a roughly 475hp-500hp zo6. Fact is its an easy 11 sec zo6 with bad driver got beat by a 12 sec mustang with a decent driver. but zo6 should win

Go to cars.com go to advanced search, click chevrolet and corvette, type in Z06 and choose $25,000 and under, click that, choose All mile search and you should come up with over 50 used Z06's for under $25k. They were only $50k new back in 2001-04' There are some selling in the 30's but most are in the 20K range. That is the deal of a lifetime.

You have your times wrong. My stock car went 12.17@115 bone stock, on stock tires. The record stands at 11.78 for a bone stock c5 Z on stock tires with full street trim. Look up Ranger z06 and Jrod z06. I can send you a link to

Car was completely stock, except exhaust and 3.73's. B4C, you got an LS1? I've raced stock LS1's with slicks on 100, shot and beat them by about 3-4 tenths. An LS1 with bolt-ons can't run with me door to door, but they are usually around two cars behind me, and I'm creeping away.... That is awesome for bolt ons....
2002 B4C Ls1 with LTs, Lid, diy ram air, True duals with cats 1 chambers dumped, and I tune it myself. Stock A4 3.23s. Running 16" rikens and I've pulled quite a few 1.90s but I'm babying it off the line. Next mod is some tires for sure...Should be easily in 7s with that.
It runs pretty well...It hangs with cars it shouldn't for sure. I get asked if I'm spraying quite a bit but I'm not....yet :)

Ranger pulled a 10.85 with a C6 Z06. Low 12's is what the MPH says with C5 Z06's, but they consistently run mid to high 12's... I'm at 420 on a 125 shot, my car weighs 3230 and I stay right around low to mid 12's and mid to high on 100 shot.... I dynoed 370whp and 420wtq on a 125 shot...
Ranger did it on DR's... but he is the exception, and I kinda question his run too. If you listen he goes through the traps in 4th.... Watch any Z06 run and they will trap in 3rd....

I consistently beat both C5 Z06's and LS3 Vettes on a 125 shot.... Although the LS3's MPH is way up there, now that is a car that should be running solid 11's.... I clock between 111mph and 115mph, LS3's are usually 117 to 119...
For a C5 Z06 to run slower than your mustangs 12.5 it had to have been driver error. Add to that the fact that you say this is a modified C5 Z06 and it makes it even more unbelievable.
He could have just been a bad driver.. or it could be that he had trashed the car. I got low 12's with my C5 Z06 on a regular basis.. and could get high 11's with a set of slicks. Best I ran with slicks was a 11.6.

116-119rwhp is what c5 Z's run with a decent air(-1000 to +1500ft DA's) with headers, intake tune.
Eitherway, it was a good kill. I have had 3 2v's, I go by Winters98gt at Stangnet, modularrevolution, and modulardepot.

Yea, that track rocks now, although I miss the "vintage" look a lot. I ran pretty bad on that run truthfully, I didn't launch at all because the tranny was still fairly new.... I'm hopind for a lower 12 on the 100 shot, and then of course an 11 on the 200 shot

On what grounds do you say it will blow my motor? Is that from experience, or something you are just repeating that heard?

I hope you plan on spending a few grand to put forged internals into your engine or else getting a 200 shot will blow up your motor..
