@toufonglee9 umm the 4g gt has a 3.8L v6 Mivec pushing 263hp.. That's equal to a new gen WRX and the eclipse isn't even boosted. Stage 1 RIPP S/C will run you about 3k and put you at or over 400hp....they may not look the best but wack and slow my ass.

Wish I could say you're right. But in all honesty it's a drivers race. My brother has an SI of this style and its no joke. I've driven it and it pulls harder than my 3g for sure. They're light as hell, and for some reason they have higher HP gains from bolt ons. Why? I'm not sure. Just don't underestimate them.
The RPM isn't what makes the car fast. They need to wrap up to the High RPM's to make any power. I'm not 100% sure on the formula, but I'm pretty sure its Torque X RPM = HP or something like that. See we have low end torque they don't have, but our power peaks lower because of this. Stock for stock, your best chance is only if you beat them off the line because they have top end. I know, it doesn't make sense, but they pull.

I have a 2g dsm, eclipse gst spyder, a 98. anyways look up about DSM and when it was dismantled. The 2g DSM's were designed under mitsu/chrysler but the co-operative was over by 1995. they were still made in the same plant in normal illinois but weren't made under the DSM cooperative. Do some research before spreading your bullshit. Its not as much of a difference as say a civic lx compared to an si, but there is a HUGE difference. Ive driven both.

hey guys 1 more thing if you are really worried about the 3033lbs just do some weight reduction. get some lighter weight rims gut the spare tire take out the back seats not that theres much room back there for freind anyway get a carbon fiber hood and also if you want you could get that carbon fiber trunk but im not its kinda ugly. install some light weight racing seats and replace the interior panels with a lighter material like carbon fiber or fiberglas an upgrade the engine with lighter parts

Of course to be that light it means(No Electronic equipment) such as Power seats, Power Windows, Carpets, radio, speakers, A/C And a lot More!! His Car is INSANE! It has around 500Hp(Normally Aspirated). BTW a Stock GTS weighs 3,241 :)

I own a 00 GT also. Curb weight is 3033lbs. Thats 85 more then your 2g. I took off all 4 cats down to one highflow and I make near 300hp. 5.3 second 0-60 with bolt on mods. 3gs dont suck..they dont have turbo which is a huge let down, and no awd for any of the trims...but its a hell of a lot smarter of a car if youre a daily driver...a LOT more reliable...just get the 3g lowered, a few easy mods, and youll be fine.

@supersoni126 Your wrong. extremely wrong. bone stock 4cyl eclipses are good for 8 second 0-60s and 16-17 sec quarters. GTS are rated at 6.8 0-60 and 14.8-15.2 quarters. Do some research before spreading your bullshit. Its not as much of a difference as say a civic lx compared to an si, but there is a HUGE difference. Ive driven both.

hey guys 1 more thing if you are really worried about the 3033lbs just do some weight reduction. get some lighter weight rims gut the spare tire take out the back seats not that theres much room back there for freind anyway get a carbon fiber hood and also if you want you could get that carbon fiber trunk but im not its kinda ugly. install some light weight racing seats and replace the interior panels with a lighter material like carbon fiber or fiberglas an upgrade the engine with lighter parts

Or you can just change the whole Tin body With aluminum. I have a Friend Who drives a 03' GTS that weighs around 2520lbs. But his is not used to drive on the street only on Tracks. Of course to be that light it means(No Electronic equipment) such as Power seats, Power Windows, Carpets, radio, speakers, A/C And a lot More!! His Car is INSANE! It has around 500Hp(Normally Aspirated). BTW a Stock GTS weighs 3,241 :)

I own a 00 GT also. Curb weight is 3033lbs. Thats 85 more then your 2g. I took off all 4 cats down to one highflow and I make near 300hp. 5.3 second 0-60 with bolt on mods. Most (not all) Honda owners that like to "run the streets" are pure morons and think that just because VTEC kicks in that they are going to waste everyone. I have an 05 Spyder GT with I/E, ECU reflash, T/B and Intake manifold thermoblok kit, plugs/wires, and some other things. Dynoed at 209whp. I beat a new Si by a full second at the strip with a 14.4 @98.4 mph. Si's suck.

My Eclipse is very powerful, however I had to learn driving manual with it, at first; first week was horrible driving it but now it is so much fun and enjoyable driving a stick. I went 130 with it with a Porsche but didn't race again. ;)
