Thanks for the video. I was ignorant till I saw this just got a Wenger that I thought the liner lock was weird on. Then I saw you PRESS the Wenger symbol boy that was good. But just a correction Victornox was before Wenger(see the history on Wikipedia, unless they are wrong.) THANKs for the video again.
I bought it last month, in Italy, and I payed it 100 euro (price was 128 euro but the seller that I know gave me a discount of 28 euro)..... the knife is really "massive"....
I bought it last month, in Italy, and i payed it 100 euro (price was 128 euro but the seller that I know gave me a discount of 28 euro)..... the knife is really "massive"....
It's still being offered for $139.95 from Seacatalog. The price has remained the same for at least 8 months. I paid $175 for mine direct from Wenger in January. The discount is still $35 dollars off at the above referenced dealer.
Interesting... ike the way the pliers come out of the knife... Like the plain edge knife..both the shape and the grind.. Not a fan of Serated blades and would have made that a saw or sissors. Next up is Price.. I can buy three Victorinox Spirit X multitools.. Which have much more capability and larger tool selection then this tool does. all in a package that is shorter yet slightly wider then this, also, all the tools lock on the Spirit X.
Only thing is missing on this knife is a wood file. and I'm surprised they didn't put in the tweezers and toothpick? its so easy and takes up no room because they go in the handle
@pooinyourass The reason they didn't put them in this knife is because none of the Ranger Series knives have them. I don't know why, I carry a Ranger and kinda want them :-(
Both companies started at the same time in order to provide fair trade.Wenger and Victorinox is the same quality, uses the same materials, and sells equally well. Victorinox now owns Wenger but keeps it seperate for the purposes of fair trade.
I just ordered a Ranger. These knives are the image of innovation. The multitool usability of a Swiss Army Knife, with the blade length and locking ability of a tactical knife. And you gotta love that push-button liner lock, that keeps your fingers away from where the balde closes. And from what I assume, the locking blade and ergonomic handles make it much safer. Chances are this will replace my Swisschamp XLT as my EDC knife.
Yeah man, thanks for giving me the heads up on a very overlooked feature. Kinda funny how in my previous videos my camera wanted to pick up just about everything in the background but the knife being featured.
LSU that's not true neither company knows who made it first. Victorinox and Wegnre are now the same company though.... Wegner also aren't cheap versions of victorinox.
@death8796 What are you talking about? Victortinox made the first Swiss Army Knife. Later on, to get more competitive pricing, the Swiss government allowed Wenger to make Swiss Army Knives. Since both companies produced knives for the Swiss military, they are both allowed to use the Swiss Army trademark. Victorinox and Wenger merged in 2005, and Victorinox kept both lines going because they both have their unique models.
More affordable? I discovered quite the opposite when comparing both companies online catalogs.
Wenger has a Giant Swiss Army knife with 87 tools at $1,400.00, a Heritage original 1908 replica model of their first knife at $500.00 and a Porsche Design model at $425.00.
I think you have it backwards as far as upper end defined by cost is concerned.
@apophysis7 I think Victorinox is better in quality, and wenger is not the cheaper brand but wenger makes more tactical type knives. This one you have is a beauty
Nice

the hole is for opening shackles on a boat, that's prob why its not like a spyderco. gotta get narrow and get a grip on those things to open em up.

how much does it cost in switzerland
christogreat 1 year ago
@christogreat
In Swiss Francs roughly the same price. Given they are made in Switzerland, probably 100 francs, if not lower. Just a guess.
apophysis7 1 year ago
@christogreat about 150 franks...

Definitely not an authority on multi-tools-- as this is the only SAK I own. Had one growing up, but that's about it. Thanks for the comment.
