No need to "interpret" or have to be "clarified" but any a chosen messenger from the supernatural to convey the meaning. He did not, and could not, call for violence against those who disagreed. He sought to bring people to discuss the basic issues facing mankind in a logical and reasonable light. His debates were to this end, and he invariably proved his point.

It's been almost a week since he died, and I still think about Hitchens more than anything else. I can't seem to get over it, which seems silly, because it was painfully obvious that he was dying. But now it has occurred to me that we have witnessed the passing of a REAL philosopher. Someone whose name will be in the history books of tomorrow alongside Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Thoreau, Kant, Hobbes, Locke, Nietszche, etc. We got to see and hear and witness his life. For that I am grateful.

The messages from Christipher Hitchens, unlike those of any religious text, were clear, unambiguous, and intelligible. No need to "interpret" or have to be "clarified" but any a chosen messenger from the supernatural to convey the meaning. He did not, and could not, call for violence against those who disagreed. He sought to bring people to discuss the basic issues facing mankind in a logical and reasonable light. His debates were to this end, and he invariably proved his point.

It's been almost a week since he died, and I still think about Hitchens more than anything else. I can't seem to get over it, which seems silly, because it was painfully obvious that he was dying. But now it has occurred to me that we have witnessed the passing of a REAL philosopher. Someone whose name will be in the history books of tomorrow alongside Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Thoreau, Kant, Hobbes, Locke, Nietszche, etc. We got to see and hear and witness his life. For that I am grateful.

You get swept up in it all and start to feel overly connected even though you were not personally known to the person that died. Try to remember that Hitchens would be the first to criticise you for making him like them. Remember its only time before the Theists start to notice this and make videos about him being the "dear leader" or some replacement for God. Try to think about life not death.
