  • I was at regional last night and kid tried to funk roll and they got stall mate cause they both didn't let go of the leg so they just stayed there

  • thank you!!!

  • You can't just go half ass on these moves you gotta be committed

  • wow. lots of people.....that do jiu-jitsu...automaticaly think they have good shots...hmm..next time someone leaves their head inside like that while they try a high crotch or w/e ima try a funk roll into an ankle lock or knee bar xD. very kewl and easy technique.

  • @MagicCryo From what I've experienced they have shitty shots but on their backs (The actual good ones, not posers) they always destroy me at open mat

  • high hips wins

  • Big risk .

  • nice technique thumbs way up

  • Also known as the Mepham Roll because it originated out of Mepham H.S. on Long Island.

  • @KOLATCOM can you make a video for riding legs?

  • my friend does this a lot

  • Hey Cary, I go to Seminole Ridge Community High School and I was wondering if there's any chance you can stop by and coach as for a day and give us tips. It'd be really helpfull.

  • sickest single leg defense i've ever seen

  • i so want this man as my coach!

  • real risky i wouldent try it in a match unless i knew that move inside and out

  • @zeke4031 agreed but it's not risky at once you get it down, it was my most productive defensive move while in college. There are variations of the funk for both the head outside single and double legs shots.

  • We learned this today, I'm already comfortable running it. I LOVE it.

  • Damn! I'd like to see this in MMA or submission wrestling. You could take the back from there...

  • move looks pretty tight

  • That's really sick. This is why some wrestlers are so much greater than others.

  • Would your opponent really stick to the single leg like that? It seems like he could just let go of the leg and establish control when your back touches the mat.

  • @sheep2slaughter It would be hard considering you have his leg thought........I think....

  • @sheep2slaughter You have control of his ankle, so worst case scenario it's just a scramble.

  • a bad ref would give the other guy point if u stay there too long

  • Man i've seen this move work SOOO many times

  • Yeah but only for Folkstyle. DO NOT try this move in freestlye

  • when i funk roll i usally go for the ankle . works best for me

  • love this move.

  • A lot of times when I shoot on someone they get their hands lock in between my legs, is there any ways to break their grip or counter?

  • It looks super dangerous...

  • @Rawr90640 its really not i hit it atleast every match . never back fires really hard to get pinned beucase all u doing is just rolling the leg over your head. almost no counters to it.

  • no way u would ever hit this on me.

  • @wadd1186 i said the same thing but if u get someone who really knows how to do it. theres not allot you can do to stop it

  • i use this Roll alot

  • this is way better than the one that i learned.

  • WOW amazing move I can really use this in mma and my Catch wrestling game.

  • does this only work if they put there head in between the legs?

  • i just lost a match because the ref didn't know what this move was. gave the other kid a takedown while i was holding his ankle and coming out the back

  • thats to risky going to ur back...

why not just circle in behind and use it

  • shame can't use this in Olympic free style you'd be giving up 3 points

  • wow! I thought the funk roll was something totally diffrent ? is there a diffrent way of performing it?

  • @fourarms325 there's a milllion different funks..

this one of the most common.

  • @eroandfriends oh I know one where they shoot head on, there hand around your legs etc. then you grab around there legs and just roll. then your in a position of sprawl.

  • god i miss wrestling

  • i dont like how risky that is

  • I am to sure about that move it does not seem high percentage, what happens if he sprawls and secures your hips?

  • @1lostinspace if he gets to your hips on the first shot rolling will still work cause he wont have an arm to stop you...if he pressures down on the leg your rolling with you just keep rolling...if hes johnny brick shithouse and just sits there you throw the leg past (here to your left) and then just roll into his other (right) leg and finish on the other side

  • better try this one at practice before you go out in a meet or tourney and embarrass yourself

  • are you dumb he cant possibly get around if you get his leg. thats why its a funk roll....

  • @cccgp1 it's not stupid, when this move is done right it's unstoppable

  • @cccgp1 no....the ref will only give the other guy 2 points if he is in control. When you do the funk roll you have the other guy's leg, so you don't give up any points.

  • is that obe blanc?

  • Regardless of points or legality, that's an awesome move. Thanks!

  • Its a big bullshit, 90% the referes give 2 point

  • @arelsamil bad refs or bad wrestlers... its a legitamate move if done correctly. not my style, but it works.

  • @arelsamil nope

  • i need this move

  • is this legal in folk style??

  • im about 95% sure it is

  • yes it should be

  • yeah funk roll is legal in folk style

  • yes

  • yes absolutely

  • of couse it is y wouldnt it be

  • wow this move is awesome

  • @Demaj11 Yeah it is and in a mma application its a sweet set up for an ankle lock or knee bar

  • Just to make sure but this is legal in folkstyle because i noticed that in the description it says Collegiate defense?

  • collegiate and folkstyle are basically the same thing. very minor changes in the rules. so yes, it is legal.

  • i think he's just running out of moves and doing some mma moves

  • No way dude I think this will work I'll practice it and try it in a match and tell you how it works.

  • my coaches showed this move it always worked but you cant be afraid to use it

  • won't your opponent get back points for that roll right before you pull. i don't think that there is a need for being on your back.

  • your opponent will only get back points if he is given control or the 2 point takedown. you will only be on your back for a second and control will only be given if it is clear that he is holding you there.

  • @KOLATCOM till he wouldnt be getting a 5count for back points unless hees strong enough to old u there

  • @blackcoastprodctions u hav to roll fast enough or u will get caught

  • @blackcoastprodctions In high school after three seconds you will get 2 near fall.

  • @blackcoastprodctions you cant give your self back points when assuming control

  • i hope that too

  • y cant u just sprawl? :S

  • the sprawl should probably be your first defense but unless you have the best sprawl in the history of wrestling you aren't going to be able to rely on it for your only defense for shots. there are certain guys who will be so fast and strong the sprawl just wont work. thats when you turn to moves like this.

  • Because most people probably expect a sprawl. With this, you can surprised them and get some points + you're in control.

  • hey so i was wondering if u could show a high sinlge leg funk step by step

  • Hey dude, type Sick Wrestling Move in the search box and you should see a slick way of ecaping the high single w/ funk roll
