Is there any amount of input lag when displayed at higher resolutions?

Will the scaling distort the image (example, some pixels fatter then others)

  • @voltz15 I'm not aware of any input lag. I can't detect any and from what I have heard it has the lowest latency of any scaler.

The scaling engine does a good job of scaling the picture without any noticeable distortion from what I can tell.

  • @shaurz So that means no moire patterns then? Oh god that would be sweet. I've seen this as a problem with people who tried XRGB-3 with either that or input delays between B0 and B1 modes.

  • @voltz15 I'm no expert so it may have similar issues to XRGB-3. I'd recommend checking out the review at retrogaming.hazard-city.de and the thread on the shmups forum.

  • That is amazing, I've only seen old game pixels that sharp in an emulator window. I know what you mean about space, I have a couple good quality CRTs and boy are they heavy and take up a lot of room. Very cool product, thanks for the demo.

  • I'm afraid this may be a dumb question....so what does a scaler do? The picture looks great btw. :D

  • I dont understand the point of buying these when you can buy a crt for like £20 which in my opinion gives you the best image,is it just a case of using your hdtv for space reasons?

Does look very crisp,i think the megadrive has an incredible image with rgb.

  • @amurphy245 Mainly a space issue for me at the moment, although I kind of prefer the image you can get from this scaler to a CRT (even though it's not really "genuine")

  • Nice vid, can the frameister generate scanlines? Thanx

  • @piotr475 Yes. When I made the video I didn't know how to enable them. I will make another video later to demonstrate the scanlines.

  • Nice video. However I'm yet to be convinced that this is any better than my XRGB-3 set-up if you're using scanlines. I will be getting one in a week or so though. lol

  • @Faginrs500 I've never seen how good a XRGB-3 looks before so I might have been a bit over-enthusiastic in this video ;-)

  • @shaurz Don't get me wrong the xrgb-mini looks the dogs bollocks! I believe the xrgb-mini wins on ease of use, hdmi out and general compatibility.

  • @Faginrs500 Maybe, but if I remember well, the price is not the same (advantage for the Frameister...). Correct me if I'm wrong. ; )

  • @Faginrs500 Can't wait to see what you have to say about it.

  • @rd1979 I doubt you'll have to wait too much longer! ;-)

  • That looks really sweet, how expensive are we talking? :)

  • @darrenwalshsock Delivered new in the UK... about £350+

  • @Faginrs500 Cheers mate - These things are definitely getting better, have you done a full overview on the scaler yet? Im mostly interested in how it behaves with the Neo Geo AES because i know you have had problems with this machine and scalers in the past :)

  • @darrenwalshsock It will get the full "lowdown" in a few weeks mate. Where this scores is with compatibility and that it outputs to HDMI. If I'm being honest it gives me no benefit over and above all the rest of the scaler shit I have, but it appears to be the Jack of all Trades for retro goodness, even if it does not provide the best in each scenario.

  • @darrenwalshsock Came to £278 overall (including postage). Yikes.

  • Have a look at Faginrs500's videos. He's the godfather of the scanline. :)

  • @stuffiwrote Yeah I know his channel. This scaler can do scanlines but I haven't found out how to enable them yet.

  • @shaurz Change mode to "Meister" mode, but only select 480p or 720p as your output. 1080p is mashed up with scanlines at the moment.

  • @Faginrs500 Thanks

  • Brilliant mate, looks amazing

  • That does look very nice indeed mate, very sharp and crisp !!!

  • That is absolutely crystal clear!

  • Looks awesome mate, even on this video you can see how sharp it is and the colours look great. What happened to you vedah isis out of interest?

  • @alexgameroom I still have it, I just moved it out of the way temporarily. I might sell it, but I have to test more systems with the Framemeister first to make sure it can handle everything. Apparently it lacks PAL support at the moment so hopefully that will be addressed in future firmware updates.
