@jakeawake5763 Nope,it was invente by ALIENS!ET brought it to iraqi people
People, the first lutes were made by Assyrians and Agyptians but who gives a shit? They were being modified for thousands of years by Arabs,Persians,Iraqis,Greeks,Turks,Kurds......They belong to all of us
all this talk is silly, everyone knows the eskimos invented the oud, the story goes like this.. several thousand years ago, after a summer night of seal rapage on the ice flows west of greenland, a passionate and volatile Inuit man took violated seal corpse, skinned it, made a body from the ribcage and bound it with sinew, and used gut remains for strings.. the skin was wrapped tight around the bones and allowed to dry for several days.. a hole was added for additional rapage.
A very very good performance. I've always wanted to play the oud, but I have not had the chance to play this instrument. Once again, a very good job:)!!!
@mygoodname the oud is an ancient instrument from mesopotamia. so obviously its not persian or arabic though the instrument used today is as u said modified by the arabs, and persians, sumerians, akkadians, turks etc but not invented by persians. the oldest record of a oud had four strings and was found in modern day nasiriyah, iraq. so there you have it. there are lots of different types of ouds but the oud was invented in what we today call iraq and not by persians cuz they didnt even exist.
The original Oud came from USA actually while arab was in the Sahara living with goats and camals and eating dry bread with water.. This poor man is playing like Naseer Shama.. Not bad
@TheTheOctavate the first oud was invented in the north of iraq (mosul) and had four strings.... it is an arabic instrument but they also make it in turkey and iran..
i have an nice turkish oud and i want tune it in arabic tuning: FADGCF or in turkish tuning: F#BEADG my question is...is it possible to tune it so?..can it dmg the oud because it´s such an high tuning or is it feasible :)
What is A in Turkish is actually E in western music, or what is D is actually A; fourth lower. So do NOT tune your oud as F#BEADG; you will ruin it! It should be C#F#BEAD as on a piano. When you play it you think it as F#BEADG.
I don't know why there is no clear information about this, I see the same mistake being made all over the net. Hope this would be helpful.
great instrument isn't it??? i love ud, lute, and other eastern and mediterranean instruments! have you ever listened to cretan lyra?? it goes perfect with lute or ud tunes. more mediterranean style of course but is still great! try psarantonis or sth.
yay, i love fretless instruments, its so much easier because you don't have to figure out which one you have to be playing. and shifting positions is so much easier too.
he is pretty good, i play OUD my self , but i still cant feel the arabian melody in it, hope he plays a melody which is more arabian style if will sound amazing....THANKS
@mygoodname this is an arabic melody, if it sounds a lil bit like spanish, maybe its because arabs colonised in Andalusia (currently spain) which the spanish adopted many of their cultural aspects...
Aió .... Then , now it's time to built together , but at first both -we , Armeninas, and Turkish - gotta resolve our past, clear our present and have consciousness of what great things we could do TOGETHER !!!
@Dauphinplayer This was probably brought during the golden age of Islam (as a culture, not only as a religion), the abbasid caliphate in Al-Andalous. in this time (7th-13th century): christians and jews could live peacefully on the same territory, no one never need to convert. and culture mixed together to create all what we got from spain to india into multituds of wonders, as flamenco, guitar and other dances...
this Taqsim is definitely one of the best melodies I've ever heard
