this is a fail laptop, i have one, and got lots of problem, especially when you update the ati video driver, and when in-game if you press the touch-function buttons, it will just freeze..
the new SLAPPA Custom Build M.A.S.K. backpack is built for 17" gaming rigs and AsusG73 users are saying it's ideal backpack for the Asus G73 and the Alienware m17x. It has a ton of features, the ability to customize the inside and outside and is TSA scan ready (don't have the take the laptop out for scanning at airports).
this laptop is a BEAST and would be the perfect choice for me cept the fact that the battery life is verrryyyyyy low and i cant decide between this or a macbook pro :(
@prinny081 The graphic card is the best one available for laptops. Its top! The 8 gigs of RAM are amazing and the i7 speeds up the whole experience. U can defenitely play EVERY high end game with this laptop now, but i dont know what kind of games may kill it till 2013 ^^
I have this latop ans its amazing for play videogames, the only problem is not so portable hahahhaaha, but i love this computer, you have to watch the graficht
@MarsVolta187 Indeed, Alienware are incredibly overpriced. You're basically spending an extra $600 for a little alien head logo and some pointless LED's.
I see 'Express Card 34 / 54 Slot' in the info, but the model in the vid doesn't have one. No other vids have shown them either, is this just an error or am I looking in the wrong place?
There is no express card slot, which is kinda a draw back. I've talked to Justin at XoticPC (they've looked at some pre-sale models) and there is no express card slot :(
Other than that, though, it is a fantastic laptop for the price!
Holy shit man it's already using the HD 5870 and it's only $1600 instead of a ridiculous $2500-$3000 price like some gaming laptops! I always thought it took a few years before gaming laptops uses powerful videocards. I guess the 40nm technology makes it possible because it generates less heat.
The cost is around 1600$, when it hits best buy it will be 1499$. Its a beast yes, but its pretty damn ugly. Copies a bit off of alienwares design which i hate!!! :( I have the G72 which is just fine for me.
i believe this is a preproduction demo rig, because if you look at the retailers selling them (pre-order) their pics have a blue lighting bezel under the screen
preorder is u got to wait for it cos they dont have this pc yet in the store so u can only preorder lol and in stock means its in there store ready to ship lol
@xGENERALxKILLx wow.. obviously you have not done your research... its about 1650 unless you go to exotic pc which has a cash discount. So no, it is not 3500 dollars I am guessing.
While it does look a little drab and lacking in trim, I do prefer all-black to funky colors and lights all over the place *cough alienware *cough. It also looks pretty thin for a gaming powerhouse.
I was reading your comment yesterday, and thinking you where having a pessimist outlook, but today a Portuguese website listed it for pre-order, price: 1999 Euros (= 2 905.3466 U.S. dollars as per google)
I'm skeptical. Its big, not to good looking to be honest, its probably gonna be damn expensive (around €1.900), and I can get a smaller, lighter, better looking machine with GTX 285 (which is about the same power as 5870) and with i7 but for a much cheaper price.
