how about developing interesting and immersive scenarios for your annoying games, instead of putting tens of thousand of particles, ya uninspired twat... :-l
converting a server board for gaming is intel's 2008 stupid idea.
The Skull Trail will cost you a mere $650
$3000 for two quad-core 3.2GHz Core 2 Extreme QX9775 processors
$800 for your choice of graphics card
So, yours for $4450 then!
Will this motherboard be compatible with Intel's next generation chips? Probably not.
Games, generally, are not great users of multi-threading architecture so even under high demand only two of the eight cores are going to be used at a time.

fuk who gives a sht wat computer u have as long as it can play games im fine with iti dnt sit there saying oh yer my comp is betta cause i hve this and u dnt seriously get a life
because better pc's run games faster at smootherframe rates, and you are able to crank the graphics up to realise the true graphics of todays games, thats why we give a shit
actually yes it does, but only when games are made to utilize both cores. the same goes with any programs, each core is basically its own processor, when programs are made to utilize both cores equally, then you get 2x the performance. that's why quadcores arent recommended over dual cores yet, due to games being made for dual cores.
It's all about FSB Speeds. It's no good having a 300Mhz bus speed, for example, if you are going to have multiple cores, the best idea is to have matching FSB & RAM speeds with core Processor thread speeds, if that makes sense. But Hell yeah, I do really want an Asus Z7S WS Skulltrail system with OctaCore technology CPUs, that would be awesome!
If you run something like cinebench it show it scales at about 3.6X from 1 core to 4 cores so that isnt that bad imo, but cinebench isnt a game so its really down game coders to utalize all cores available
It's totally unnecessary in terms of gaming to run all eight cores, it's just taking it out on the extra power you may have, for gaming a quad-core works like a charm, in fact a good dual-core computer will run any one of the new games, eventually 8 core computers will emerge as the newest piece of tech but for now and a long time to come, quad core CPUs will be more than enough to handle your gaming needs.
4 cores are currently out, 8 cores are next down the pipe, and Intel has promised to eventually release a single processor with even more cores than 8.
In fact, Intel has said that they could release 80 (that's not a typo) cores in about five years. There may be some PR hype in that statement of their's, but it shows where they're going.
Yeah... Why wouldn't they keep making the cores nothings stopping them and its only helping one day computers will be pure optical and no one will say I have the faster computer! ....
dude, most standard computers use dual core these days, mine was bought 2 years ago and runs Unreal T 3, Hellgate and todays games and its only a mid-end PC, just save a bit of money and you can build a very decent PC that will last you a couple of years ;)
relax dude this is just a test, 8 core won't be a high end thing til the next 2 years and it won't be mainstream probably for another 5-10. You need to chill. Technology advancing is a good thing! More realistic games. You must be a broke unemployed kid, or you wouldn't be complaining. I look forward to new tech to upgrade to, do i upgrade on every new thing no, and neither do you so chill!
they are, when they say 8 core they mean 2 physical quad processors on the motherboard.
Mid-end users like me are still using dual core, quad cores are not standard tech right now, only if you are a tech enthusiast with lots bucks to spend on building a high end quad core system, next year: thats another story ;)
its not so much the processor that matters when your gaming, that just helps load times and such. Its the cards that matter. You can run most games nowadays on any processor. Im running a pentium 4 ht still with a single XFX 8800gts and it still runs crysis on full
dumbass....

quad core has twice the cores as a dual core so really you can do twice as much, so they really aren't a bad deal.
krevok 4 years ago
no, it doesn't scale that way....
