The sound of this song is just... so sad, but the lyrics are all about a brighter future. It's absolutely beautiful. Of course, Yoko Kanno shows us why she's one of the best composers of our time.
For a series with one of the happiest endings I found it bittersweet and it left me longing for more. Sochie's ending was very lonesome and I just wanted to see if she would end up happy even if she was one of my least favourite characters in the beginning.
Damn you Tomino for creating this masterpiece, the new stuff just cant match it.
Turn A's ending was so beautiful the way it tied every single Gundam series before it into it's Black History and the conclusion of Turn A. It made you feel like this was the end of Gundam. Not the absolute end or anything, it was last one Tomino directed. It still opened a new gate way. As Char once said "The old generation cannot build the new era". Seed was terrilbe and 00 was okay from what I heard. Hopefully Age is good. We need a writer to direct an awesome Gundam series.

The story is just insane, it more than makes up for any shortcomings Turn A has (not that it has many). Plus it has Harry Ord (perhaps the best Char ripoff ever) and a Gundam pilot who isn't an emo whiney bitch.
@Amurutimate It may have something to do with the fact that it takes place millennia after all of the Universal Century Gundam series (they call the ∀ timeline the 'Correct Century'), thereby depriving it of any connection with ANY of the Gundam series, including the non-UC/CC Gundams. But X suffered the worst fate, and only because they moved that show from late-Friday afternoon to Saturday pre-dawn. I wonder if they still have the scripts for the final 10 or 11 episodes of X, to finish it.
@CookyMonzta That can't be, because this was supposed to be the Gundam show that tied in all other timelines together. I'm guessing this was supposed to be the very last Gundam series. ...and then came SEED...
@Amurutimate Well, this was definitely the last Gundam series that Yoshiyuki Tomino directed, at least. I don't think it was ever intended to be the absolute end of the Gundam franchise, (at least from a marketing perspective) but definitely the et al end for every timeline that has been or will be in Gundam. Besides, Turn A takes place in such a distant future that it feels like they left it open for many more possible "prequels".

@loganleunidus I suppose but in recent games like Gundam Extreme, there's plenty of Gold Sumos and Turn A players in Japan. Not to mention the 100th MG was given to Turn A Gundam. Turn A is also critically acclaimed from viewers but idk. It's pretty big to say it's the most dislike gundam series in japan.
After watching the entire series, I do believe this was a highly underrated Gundam series. The story was well executed and the concept behind the story was also quite incredible.
The best ending And I'm definitely a great fan of Gundam ( i've see all Gundam Series in VO-ST xD ) And my favorite Anime...slow at the begining but fast after...I want more Gundam Serie like that !
On a related note, Turn A is my favourite Gundam series, with Endless Waltz taking a close second and 08th MS Team / War in the Pocket tied for third. I need to watch Victory and Unicorn though.

@SkillrSilvia Yeah, I thought it was nice to see a Gundam series with that much length to it... and I loved the actual story. Not to mention the realism and depth, Turn A's technology is the hardest scifi tech I've seen in a Gundam series to date. Most of it we either already have, or are close to developing, Moonlight Butterfly included. We could potentially build a Turn A in... I dunno, 50, maybe 100 years? And we technically can already colonise the moon.

@SkillrSilvia I have to admit. It appeals to a different audience than all the other gundam series, which is why it has such a small following. However, it is the most developed story so far. It relies less on death and more on life.

@oyametalicus You don't have to. All you need to do is look out for the fandom and see how they feel about this newer trilogy. Then again, all you need to do is also look within the Gundam fandom as well. There's a reason why older series like the original MS Gundam or Zeta are hailed as classics, while, say, SEED Destiny is regarded as trash. Newer does NOT always triumph over old.
@oyametalicus I never said old always triumphs over new, now did I? I was simply pointing out a fault in your statement, which is supposedly 'new always overcomes old' (which is not true at all). So, to recap, Turn A already has two movies, and 00 being shiny and new does not automatically trump old classics (MS Gundam will always remain the classic fav amongst the hardcore, and I see no other Gundam series trump Wing's success the rest of the world).

By the by, let me clear up one other thing. 00 has Special Edition movies to go with the feature movie, so 00 itself also has more than one movie like Turn A Gundam. ;p I don't remember the number of volumes for the Special Edition, but I'm thinking there's two of them.

@oyametalicus If I did focus on mecha design over plot, why am I here supporting Turn A? :P 00 had the politics thing going and all, but I found the story to fail at maintaining momentum throughout the series, be it first or second season. Frankly, Unicorn's story in episode 1 kept me more hooked than 00, though whether the rest of the OVA would increase or maintain its momentum would be another story? And Unicorn is prettier than 00Q, but I still like Turn A more.

I love this song. Especially when it played in Episode 8: Loran's Cow. I love where Loran declared he was Moonrace to the Terrans. When I first saw the scene (I think I was only 8.) I cried so much. I had never watched a anime more inspiring before. I fell in love with Loran Cehack. Aspiring me to be like him.
Love the song. Love the series. One of my favourite ever! I love the way it starts so small and after this huge journey you folllow the characters on, it ends in such an epic way. When this played at the penultimate scene, it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
You can't compare Gundam's, you idiots. Two entirely different eras. That's like comparing the effects that the bow and firearm had on mankind. Two entirely different eras. Turn A was strong for it's time, so was the Zero, the Strike, what have you.

Just the whole love story in the midst of a war made me a little annoyed. Sorry Syd Mead but your Turn A design was a fail. Western and Eastern design rarely ever go well together in animation.
You do know that the Strike Freedom beats out the Destiny in power right. Turn A might have destroyed the world but that Moonlight Butterfly aint all that. For it to have any real effect you would have to be standing behind the Gundam until the moonlight butterfly energy flooded the area. Something thats not instantaneous. All anyone would have to do is either blow away the cockpit which is constantly exposed or blow the entire gundam away in one shot. For gundams like Physalis.
Already have and I smacked the piss out of Turn A every time regardless of what Gundam I use. The trick is dont give it time enough to use the Moonlight.
@Godzilla2000X Of course, the Moonlight Butterfly has also been shown to wrap itself around the mobile suit as well, and do so rather quickly, so it's not like those nanomachines will only limit itself to the back. :P Then there's the part where it was able to incoming fire along with encasing and/or turning things to ash.

@AegisKHAOS Well in every series they tell you how most of the tech works. Turn A the moonlight just magically engages itself. I Agree with you Aegis that the Gundam Unicorn is a pretty ass mobile suit to look at. Im surprised you dont like 00. I think its the best series to date and the movie was crazy good. It was the only series that started out okay. Season two just got way over the top with how the fights were performed and the movie pulled a first in Gundam history.
@Godzilla2000X Yes, we see tech info, but none of them have done anything to explain WHY it happens other than something like 'it's there'. Talking ghosts. 'It's there'. Innovation via magical particles. 'Just because'. Rainbow skittles. Highly sensitive interface that it can be unpredictable... and 'just because'. Moonlight Butterfly, 'why the hell not?'
As I said before, 00 was too inconsistent. It started off alright, but then it got monotonous. Plus most of the cast was useless.
@oyametalicus Yes, we already know how Setsuna became an Innovator. That's still not technology supporting the weirdness. No one expected those same miracle particles, the same ones that were supposed to be byproducts of the solar furnaces, to not only mutate a human being, but mutate them so precisely. It simply came out of nowhere, and thus we simply filed that knowledge in as something else miracle particles can do.
@AegisKHAOS I think my beef with Turn A is that its not a very technical oriented Gundam story. That and they were digging up Zaku. Out of all the mobile suits in the Gundam timeline you mean to tell me a few Zaku survived Turn A apocalyspe? That one made my me scratch me head.
@Godzilla2000X I dunno, it was fairly comprehensive in its technology as well, given the I-Field Drive System, the concept behind the design of the Turn A and Turn X, or even their powerplants.
I don't mind the idea of seeing 'Zakus' in the series, but I did mind that no other MS made it from other universes, especially Gundams. Sure, certain technologies made it, like the Shining Finger, or the Mobile Trace System, but it wouldn't hurt to see other MS besides monoeyes or a GM wannabe.
@AegisKHAOS Agreed.....I think honestly that is what truely bothers me. Out of all of Gundams and mobile suits that have been created. The ones to sure Turn A Apocalyspe was Turn A itself and the Zaku along with Turn X.
@Godzilla2000X It's a little more of a headache when you consider that the MS that did survive aren't exact duplicates of the UC MS to begin with. The 'Custom' Borjornan is supposed to be the Zaku I, yet lacks a fin on the head. The Kapool is not the same as the Capule with the different skirt. The Gallop in Turn A is MUCH smaller than in MSG. The Zssan has a shoulder pod while the Zssa does not. So if anyone tries to fit things nicely, the question is 'what are those MS doing here?'

Only Minovsky Particles come close. :P If you accept that, MB is acceptable.

First off this song is amazing. Im currently ant the end of watching Turn A Gundam and Im have to say the series is a bust. The character development was kind of dumb. A gundam pilot a servant to some mouth bitch. I THINK NOT. Turn A's design makes my prostate hurt. Gundam is like Final Fantasy a cycle of designs and concepts re-envisioned not a total make over by some american twat! I thought I would never see a Gundam without a crest.
One could argue it's best Gundam series BECAUSE it's so un-Gundam. Tomino ignoring all the tropes and stereotypes he helped to create, and if he still used them he did it in a different way entirely. Cool stuff.
Until now I always thought the vocalist for this song was Romi Park, who voiced Loran Cehack, the hero and pilot of the eponymous Gundam. I stand corrected by your posts (and does Aki Okui ever do a brilliant job!)... But still, the voices are so strikingly alike I'm still finding it hard to believe that they're two different people.
I'm currently getting re-intouch with my old Gundam fascination. Right now I'm watching 0083 which is the one I always wanted to see when I was younger.

The other choice would have been better imho...

@SkillrSilvia Yeah, I thought it was nice to see a Gundam series with that much length to it... and I loved the actual story. Not to mention the realism and depth, Turn A's technology is the hardest scifi tech I've seen in a Gundam series to date. Most of it we either already have, or are close to developing, Moonlight Butterfly included. We could potentially build a Turn A in... I dunno, 50, maybe 100 years? And we technically can already colonise the moon.
Oh, and Corin Nander? *So* awesome.

@oyametalicus You don't have to. All you need to do is look out for the fandom and see how they feel about this newer trilogy. Then again, all you need to do is also look within the Gundam fandom as well. There's a reason why older series like the original MS Gundam or Zeta are hailed as classics, while, say, SEED Destiny is regarded as trash. Newer does NOT always triumph over old.

So, to recap, Turn A already has two movies, and 00 being shiny and new does not automatically trump old classics (MS Gundam will always remain the classic fav amongst the hardcore, and I see no other Gundam series trump Wing's success the rest of the world).

By the by, let me clear up one other thing. 00 has Special Edition movies to go with the feature movie, so 00 itself also has more than one movie like Turn A Gundam. ;p I don't remember the number of volumes for the Special Edition, but I'm thinking there's two of them.

@oyametalicus If I did focus on mecha design over plot, why am I here supporting Turn A? :P 00 had the politics thing going and all, but I found the story to fail at maintaining momentum throughout the series, be it first or second season. Frankly, Unicorn's story in episode 1 kept me more hooked than 00, though whether the rest of the OVA would increase or maintain its momentum would be another story? And Unicorn is prettier than 00Q, but I still like Turn A more.

I love this song. Especially when it played in Episode 8: Loran's Cow. I love where Loran declared he was Moonrace to the Terrans. When I first saw the scene (I think I was only 8.) I cried so much. I had never watched a anime more inspiring before. I fell in love with Loran Cehack. Aspiring me to be like him.

You can't compare Gundam's, you idiots. Two entirely different eras. That's like comparing the effects that the bow and firearm had on mankind. Two entirely different eras. Turn A was strong for it's time, so was the Zero, the Strike, what have you.
I will say though, I've always thought that Meteor was the cheapest thing ever since Dragon Balls.

Just the whole love story in the midst of a war made me a little annoyed. Sorry Syd Mead but your Turn A design was a fail. Western and Eastern design rarely ever go well together in animation.

You do know that the Strike Freedom beats out the Destiny in power right. Turn A might have destroyed the world but that Moonlight Butterfly aint all that. For it to have any real effect you would have to be standing behind the Gundam until the moonlight butterfly energy flooded the area. Something thats not instantaneous. All anyone would have to do is either blow away the cockpit which is constantly exposed or blow the entire gundam away in one shot. For gundams like Physalis.

@Godzilla2000X Of course, the Moonlight Butterfly has also been shown to wrap itself around the mobile suit as well, and do so rather quickly, so it's not like those nanomachines will only limit itself to the back. :P Then there's the part where it was able to incoming fire along with encasing and/or turning things to ash.
Ont he other hand, agreed, Destiny really ain't all that. Frankly, SEED MS ain't all that. 00Q or Devil, though...

@AegisKHAOS Well in every series they tell you how most of the tech works. Turn A the moonlight just magically engages itself. I Agree with you Aegis that the Gundam Unicorn is a pretty ass mobile suit to look at. Im surprised you dont like 00. I think its the best series to date and the movie was crazy good. It was the only series that started out okay. Season two just got way over the top with how the fights were performed and the movie pulled a first in Gundam history.

@Godzilla2000X Yes, we see tech info, but none of them have done anything to explain WHY it happens other than something like 'it's there'. Talking ghosts. 'It's there'. Innovation via magical particles. 'Just because'. Rainbow skittles. Highly sensitive interface that it can be unpredictable... and 'just because'. Moonlight Butterfly, 'why the hell not?'
As I said before, 00 was too inconsistent. It started off alright, but then it got monotonous. Plus most of the cast was useless.

@oyametalicus Yes, we already know how Setsuna became an Innovator. That's still not technology supporting the weirdness. No one expected those same miracle particles, the same ones that were supposed to be byproducts of the solar furnaces, to not only mutate a human being, but mutate them so precisely. It simply came out of nowhere, and thus we simply filed that knowledge in as something else miracle particles can do.

@Godzilla2000X I dunno, it was fairly comprehensive in its technology as well, given the I-Field Drive System, the concept behind the design of the Turn A and Turn X, or even their powerplants.
I don't mind the idea of seeing 'Zakus' in the series, but I did mind that no other MS made it from other universes, especially Gundams. Sure, certain technologies made it, like the Shining Finger, or the Mobile Trace System, but it wouldn't hurt to see other MS besides monoeyes or a GM wannabe.

@Godzilla2000X It's a little more of a headache when you consider that the MS that did survive aren't exact duplicates of the UC MS to begin with. The 'Custom' Borjornan is supposed to be the Zaku I, yet lacks a fin on the head. The Kapool is not the same as the Capule with the different skirt. The Gallop in Turn A is MUCH smaller than in MSG. The Zssan has a shoulder pod while the Zssa does not. So if anyone tries to fit things nicely, the question is 'what are those MS doing here?'

@oyametalicus Because they ARE miracle particles. :P Think, those things are a result of a new powersource with the added bonus of jamming radio frequencies, jam radar, create forcefields, beam fire/blades, cloak to invisibility, coat solids to make them tougher, cause funky QBW weirdness, and change humans into near ageless psychics with other physical enhancements. Only Minovsky Particles come close. :P If you accept that, MB is acceptable.

@oyametalicus No, Aeolia merely came up with the theories. Even then, that doesn't stop the fact that the Twin Drive and the particles did PRECISELY that in the series. Point? MB is weird, but that shouldn't be an excuse for hate when other series ALSO have weirdness. MB and GN Drives are no issue to me.
And as far as you go, I am fine you hate TAG. I hated TAG once, too. However, there are many who also LOVE TAG. Point? Don't slam them for it, either.

On the other hand, it was not the best I've ever watched due to some faults that made it less than what it could have been, faults which I already mentioned, and that there were simply other series I enjoyed more.

First off this song is amazing. Im currently ant the end of watching Turn A Gundam and Im have to say the series is a bust. The character development was kind of dumb. A gundam pilot a servant to some mouth bitch. I THINK NOT. Turn A's design makes my prostate hurt. Gundam is like Final Fantasy a cycle of designs and concepts re-envisioned not a total make over by some american twat! I thought I would never see a Gundam without a crest.

Until now I always thought the vocalist for this song was Romi Park, who voiced Loran Cehack, the hero and pilot of the eponymous Gundam. I stand corrected by your posts (and does Aki Okui ever do a brilliant job!)... But still, the voices are so strikingly alike I'm still finding it hard to believe that they're two different people.
