To all and jimmy what i have done many times is to call 911 to have police come to the scene to have them issue a ticket and to make a record of it because they can't erase the 911 tapes. If the police refuse to issue a ticket I then file a complaint against the officer plus the parking agent and request the 911 call Plus if they still refuse I call 911 again to have anther officer come to scene if not there is anther record of the refusal

I would laugh at him when FDNY uses their push bumper to physically remove his truck and he would have to explain the damage. FDNY doesnt mess around, you park where you shouldnt and they will push your car out of the way, thats what those huge bumpers are for. And i have been told this by FDNY memeber I have trained with.

Jimmy, next time an official vehicle blocks a hydrant, call 911 and let them know there's a fire. Then firetrucks will crowd around the official vehicle.
A firefighter told me once that in a case of a vehicle blocking a hydrant, they will try to use the engine to basically ram the vehicle out of the way. I'd love to see one of these tax collector meterjerks get their assigned vehicle rammed for this. Maybe then the problem will be properly addressed.

Filming someone and/or something in a public place is very legal. I think Jimmy Justice is doing a great job reminding law enforcers that THEY should not abuse the law themselves. They simply can not give out tickets while THEY are the one's who should be getting tickets.

I live on the Canadian border, now. For a few months the USA had a surviellence blimp monitoring the border. One group petitioned and met with the people in charge who could do something about ceasing the invasion of our privacy. Another group came up with the idea that town residents would line up on the border and "moon" the blimp as it went by in it's rotation.
The first group accomplished their mission before the second group could get organized, but the second group got more press.

You're really not getting it, are you? There is a concession in the parking bylaws for first response civil servants. Translation: they don't have to adhere to the same bylaws as you. You can film them all that you want, it's not going to change the fact that that concession exists. Petition city hall, with your evidence of abuse of this concession (Eg. the off duty undercover officer who's wife took his ID of the dash) and ask them to retract the concession.
None of your example are relevant. An officer robbing a bank or smoking a cigarette would be breaking laws that they have to adhere to, the same as the rest of us. First responder vehicles ARE ALLOWED to park in no parking areas, whether you like it or not, and there is no additional wording to that concession. It doesn't say that they can park there in situations A, B and C, it says that they can.

And most laws across the nation as well state that officials can break those laws during an "emergency" but otherwise must obey the laws. It's different from Germany. And I know that it's against the law in the US (or I don't know just NYC?) to park in front of a fire hydrant. I also saw pictures with smashed car windows and the hose going though. But why not putting the hose around the vehicle?
But all in all since it's against the law I think also that especially cops shouldn't act like that.
The only problem with that is that it takes time to break out the windows of a car and run a hose through it. In the case of a fire in a building, time is very important. The longer it takes for firemen to get to a fire, the bigger the fit becomes.

No eating breakfast is not an emergency, but the driver of the truck cannot be too far from the truck because they can get a call anytime. If there was a fire i think he would know about it, beacuse NYPD traffic responds to any fire scnece to assist in the traffic flow or to move any vehicles that are in danger of a fire, for example a car in a garage that is on fire, NYPD tow trucks remove the car to prevent an explosion.

A firefighter told me once that in a case of a vehicle blocking a hydrant, they will try to use the engine to basically ram the vehicle out of the way. I'd love to see one of these tax collector meterjerks get their assigned vehicle rammed for this. Maybe then the problem will be properly addressed.

Filming someone and/or something in a public place is very legal. I think Jimmy Justice is doing a great job reminding law enforcers that THEY should not abuse the law themselves. They simply can not give out tickets while THEY are the one's who should be getting tickets.
Law is there for a reason. And "Law 'Enforcers'" should obey the law. But they are being selfish, ignorant, and hypocritical.

I live on the Canadian border, now. For a few months the USA had a surviellence blimp monitoring the border. One group petitioned and met with the people in charge who could do something about ceasing the invasion of our privacy. Another group came up with the idea that town residents would line up on the border and "moon" the blimp as it went by in it's rotation.
The first group accomplished their mission before the second group could get organized, but the second group got more press.

You're really not getting it, are you? There is a concession in the parking bylaws for first response civil servants. Translation: they don't have to adhere to the same bylaws as you. You can film them all that you want, it's not going to change the fact that that concession exists. Petition city hall, with your evidence of abuse of this concession (Eg. the off duty undercover officer who's wife took his ID of the dash) and ask them to retract the concession.

None of your example are relevant. An officer robbing a bank or smoking a cigarette would be breaking laws that they have to adhere to, the same as the rest of us. First responder vehicles ARE ALLOWED to park in no parking areas, whether you like it or not, and there is no additional wording to that concession. It doesn't say that they can park there in situations A, B and C, it says that they can.

@thegirl44 my examples are relevant. According the NYS VTL 1104, an emergency vehicle can violate traffic law DURING AN ACTUAL EMERGENCY, and at other time MUST OBEY TRAFFIC LAW. The law is very clear.
Since eating lunch is not an emergency, if a traffic cop parks blocking a hydrant while eating lunch he is breaking the law.

And most laws across the nation as well state that officials can break those laws during an "emergency" but otherwise must obey the laws. In other words, if going into McDonalds to eat breakfast, they should be parking legally. Not sure how much more clear that can be.

Those enforcers only think there is something wrong when others blocking the fire hydrates. If they do that, they don't think there is anything wrong. If we park like them, they may tow our cars away. However, they think it is okay for them to do that. That is very wrong. And on the last part, he said he doesn't know whether it is ok to block the hydrate, " I don't know, you tell me"? What does that mean? He wasn't play attention when he was on training? Then he is not qualify for the job?

It's different from Germany. And I know that it's against the law in the US (or I don't know just NYC?) to park in front of a fire hydrant. I also saw pictures with smashed car windows and the hose going though. But why not putting the hose around the vehicle?
But all in all since it's against the law I think also that especially cops shouldn't act like that.

The only problem with that is that it takes time to break out the windows of a car and run a hose through it. In the case of a fire in a building, time is very important. The longer it takes for firemen to get to a fire, the bigger the fit becomes.

No eating breakfast is not an emergency, but the driver of the truck cannot be too far from the truck because they can get a call anytime. If there was a fire i think he would know about it, beacuse NYPD traffic responds to any fire scnece to assist in the traffic flow or to move any vehicles that are in danger of a fire, for example a car in a garage that is on fire, NYPD tow trucks remove the car to prevent an explosion.
