Sounds like your finger got a little tired towards the end lol! I maintain that this would be a decent carry weapon, for the sheer fact that you've got enough ammo to pin someone (a robber, mugger, etc) down to make an escape. They won't know it's only a .22, mag rounds are noisy, and they're only going to know that you're shooting at their ass!
@mgospeed31 Indeed. It might not be a bad idea for a carry gun. It's extremely light at only 1.2lbs loaded, plus as you mentioned it has a high ammo capacity without having a mag that extends below the handle.
@tmzrox Which would be illegal in the US without registering it as an AOW (We don't have that bull in Canada, but then again most of our other laws are shit)
For fuck's sake, a dude asked for one in .22lr and I replied that .22lr isn't usually very fond of high capacity pistol magazines. Usually pistols have a capacity of 10 rounds, high cap magazines are more common in rifles because they curve a lot.
@308Sharpie Ahah, there is. But look at the curved shape. You can't exactly fit that in a pistol grip, you'd have to make something like a Tec-9 to have a pistol with a capacity of 30 rounds of 22lr.
NIce shooting... I think you can cut the time if you drop the mag and immediate reload without looking.... If you do that you may break the world's record...
@gcornel2 - The keyholing was the result of bullet instability caused by insufficient twist. The barrel twist rate was changed from 1:16 to 1:12 which solved the problem. There were also a few tweaks to increase overall performance. If you have one of the "pre-twist" models, you can send it back to KT for a free upgrade.
I bought one of these as soon as I could and have shot at least a thousand rounds through it and it has not jammed once. You would think it would jam once just by odds of the numbers but not once. And it is very accurate as well. I wish they wouls make a 17HMR barrell for it since the mags are the same that all the mod would be was a barrell.
Do not look away from your target as you shoot, learn how to reload, with extra mags, without looking. Don't worry about empty mags, if you are on a practice range, use a blanket below you. First sight first, at this speed you cannot post sights. You did very well in demonstrating this weapon, very slow/fast moves, and positive lock.
@iodineclip No, the bullet is mush smaller and it's less powder...but it's far from an underpowered round for anything smaller than a dear, may be even a bad guy :)... the 9mm is also supposed to be more realiable, though I never have a rimfire fail either, so that might be a bit oversold.....it's deff cheaper to shoot and less report.
@kilog55 I didn't say it was underpowered, read the comment. To top that off, penetraion isn't a good thing when it comes to self defense, it means loss of potential stoping power, plus it's bad for any innocent bystanders behind the target....but that wasn't my original point anyway. 22wmr is a sweet little round, with good placement it should keep you out of trouble with no problem.
@shmuckling i know i was backing up your comment, over penetration isnt my main concern stopping power is which is why i use hollow points and not fmj in my M&P or any other carry weapon
Give it a 6" or 8" barrel and 3-shot burst and it will be just like the HGN in RoboCop and will sell like hotcakes now that 2nd A FREEDOM is bursting out all around the nation and people are buying SBRs, silencers, and FA/Class III weapons.
A 6" or 8" barrel semi would be a good hunting pistol too.
Shooter needs some work on fast reloads. With one swipe of the support hand you should be able to drop that mag down and pick up a new mag from your mag holders on your belt. Sloppy.
@mzherdev Definitely sloppy. We weren't exactly going for fast magazine changes anyways. Just wanted to show how rapidly the gun could be fired. I think the point got across.
If you guys release a .22lr version I'll buy it in a heartbeat...cost of .22 mag is all that keeps me from buying one of these. These guns are awesome, I got to shoot one and it was very comfortable and stayed on target easily during rapid fire.
I thought it was an awesome idea and I'm a HUGE fan of keltec firearms, they are cheap and fun guns for the range. However, I do work for one of the largest FFL dealers in the United States, and upon recieving 2 PMR-30s from KelTec, both suffered serious failures after about 200 rounds. Did we get a bad batch? Whats the deal? My customers love the idea of this gun and I'd love to provide them with it. Please let me know. Thanks guys!
I only buy 22LR for fun guns, and this gun looks like a lot of fun, if and when you offer a version of it in 22LR.You will have tripple the customers for it!
@KelTecWeapons When you make the RMR-30 please advertise the magazines as built for the rifle! For Canada. Also, thanks for making great guns that fit around our laws.
It's about time someone made a .22 pistol that put all the room you have in the grip to good use. My Walther only holds 10, but there was plenty of room for a bigger magazine if they had wanted to do it. If you do make a 22LR version, please offer a threaded barrel option (suppressor for 22LR, but really the 22Mag could use one for a muzzle brake). I'm definitely going to get one of the .22 Mag PMR-30s though.
won't kill someone or stop anything efficiently, but 30 rounds should be able to keep heads down for about 10 seconds, in the mean time you can do alot to gain a tactical advantage over an immobilized enemy
@MrLeathermantool mmm, just looked 5.7x28 up... its energy transfers slightly above 540J... while the .22WMR stays around 300. It might have the same ballistics so accuracy isn't an issue, but in terms of energy transfer give or take needs 3 rounds in rapid succession to match say... a round of 40SW JHP
@R5H4D0W won't kill? People kill people with the wimpy .25(far worse than .22lr) don't play too much cod4 where the .45 needs 5 rounds to stop a man...
An individual running couldn't be kept at bay during the initial contact and would likely require two or many rounds in such calibers. I'd prefer to save as much rounds as I can if I'm in a combat situation. .22LR calibers typically kill by blood loss, it'll kill given some time, time not in your advantage.
I've never played COD, but I've shot the .22LR at various organic targets... I'm not much of a pistol shooter though, I prefer my 8mm mauser
I would very, very much be interested in a this pistol if it had an American style magazine release (positioned near the trigger guard, instead of the European style at the base of the grip) with magazines that dropped free.
Sorry KelTec maybe you guys should change your approach of making cheap unfinished guns and go back to the drawing table. If you change your name, maybe hide for a couple of years and make dependable products you might get more customers. :/
Well about time it hit the stores, long time waiting!
With a MSRP of $415.00 it'll be a hoot to shoot. Now all Keltec needs is to convert the Sub 2000 into the same round and mags call it the Sub 22m, what great tools to have out in the woods.
Okay so this is interesting....what kind of ballistics have you measured with the short barrel length? Ive been following this gun and have heard various people yapping about "what they know" about ballistics, but what are the figures. Also, drop away mags would be nice.
The PMR-30 reaches 1200-2000 fps, depending on the load. I've heard it's 1500 on average. It's also very, very accurate. The .22 magnum is close to a 9mm in energy and velocity.
@KelTecWeapons Yes a 22lr the size of a glock 19 would be ideal...The one made by scci jams like crazy...I heard this has some jamming issues..is this true? also how much is the recommeded 22 mag ammo cost for this weapon?
I just checked with the company today, they are not confirming or denying a 22lr version but I was told to watch the web site for new models. Hmm, a hint maybe.
wow but I wish you made one in 22lr with the same capacity!

@KelTecWeapons Yes a 22lr the size of a glock 19 would be ideal...The one made by scci jams like crazy...I heard this has some jamming issues..is this true? also how much is the recommeded 22 mag ammo cost for this weapon?

@bobpoptart
I just checked with the company today, they are not confirming or denying a 22lr version but I was told to watch the web site for new models. Hmm, a hint maybe.
