You should definetely reduce smoking while pregnat to 3 to 5 cigarettes a day - but that should be fair enough for your baby. A smoke in a while does not hurt. No chain smoking of course !!!
My mother smoked when pregnant with me and my siblings. Day by day I often wonder if I am mentally retarded as I haven't achieved much in life even though I have tried continuously. For a bloke, I have fairly small hands, probably due to my mother's smoking. I try to retain myself, but sometimes I hate the fucking bitch. I feel as if my life was over before it had begun. I feel very bitter that I've been dealt with a disadvantage unnecessarily. Totally avoidable and very selfish.

i agree! i am pregnant and i dont even drink diet caffiene free soda (artificial sweeteners), bottled water (unknown plastic effects/ low quality control), and i cant used fingernail polish as well. There are many others! From the day i got pregnant, my 1 goal was to make sure this baby is healthy and has every chance in the world of happiness.

We need laws banning smoking while pregnant. If a mother smokes and the baby survives, it should be taken away immediately and adopted out to proper people and perhaps the mother should be sterilized; if the child dies, there is no reason why she should not face capital punishment. This video is brilliant for raising awareness about the effects of smoking in pregnancy. Im a student midwife and i saw this video today in class as another student did a presentation on smoking in pregnancy. The sad fact is that it is so true yet most people do not see these things for them selves so feel there is no risk to them. Its a shame.
