What does it purport to represent? You know that Enron was a government contracted business? Worldcom also? Did you know Microsoft got subsidized went it was initially created? Corporate welfare is NOT capitalism! Capitalism is free voluntary trade with no barrier for competition to enter! That is not what the republicans and democrats support! They both have special interest groups that waste the taxpayers economic growth! In the end, big governments fail and hurt more than liberty ever could!
Exactly - it doesn't represent what it purports to represent, any more than communism does, socialism, etc. In their ideals they are all wonderful, but in reality they are used as arguments by the powerful to get more power. None of them should be assigned such a high praise as "freedom" in my view - an ism won't give you freedom. Freedom means choice to live outside of any one ism, wouldn't you agree?
Outstanding. It's really, really wonderful to see things so ahead of their times. And to think that these were the types of things that once bored me in civics class!! KUDOS! 5-STARS!!!

It's so true - capitalism, communism, socialism, patriotism - just tools, not answers and not masters.

Capitalism is just as dangerous as any. It's just a word that doesn't represent what it purports to represent.

Capitalism leads to corporatism. It is inevitable. Go read up on the "iron law of oligarchy" as to why it happens.
