2) He may not be the fastest or smoothest guitarist ever, but his artist and writing abilities surpasses most guitarists. He was good and could write chart topping hits that appealed to large audiences.

guys unreal, but its the unbelievably deep three note riffs and solos that have always amazed me. EVH speed and effects are great, but the thing that seems to separate Page/Clapton/Hendrix is that 'it' factor and the orchestrated depth of their best jams.

He's still one the best to ever pick up a guitar, I just personally believe that is the reason why he hasn't gotten as much respect through time, as some of you have pointed out.
