One of my top 3 Fixx songs, and an all-time favorite. This album came out in fall '84, and has always sounded like autumn to me. So sweeping, sincere, mysterious, deep...way, way above other art-pop-rock music of its time. Totally dead serious, no phony "goth" act or rock star posturing...so of course most people never "got" it.
Nothing phony about the FIXX...Nothing! They were way to cerebral for most people and the majority can't comprehend what they're about. Nothing tawdry or lewd to their music, just pure audio dynamite and thought provoking lyrics and music that stands the test of time.
cy curnan...the ultimate showman...guy is awesome! i love the fixx..was just at the july 30 concert in atlantic city new jersey...show was awesome..they played 2 of my favorites...yesterday/today and camphor! ...group continues to amaze..no matter how many times i see them...i love these guys!
@n8tureboy I have danced to the Fixx ,around a blazing bonfire, alone ,nude to the world and having an aboriginal experience . They are just doing that in the front row {:>
I love this song......but what's up with the guy in the front row of the audience at 1:50....striped shirt.....looks like he's doing an impression of the Wicked Witch of the West melting.....LOL.....and the guy next to him "pulling" on his face??
Phenomonal song from a phenomonal band. Cy's stage presence is along the likes of Fish (the Marillion fans will get this one!) Love the textural keyboards of Rupert...Jamie's "Stand or Fall" inspired guitar chimes....overall greatness!
OMG BEST SONG EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!! I Voted for them on the FIXX website for them to play this live I have the opening show the first night of them playing this song Facing the Wind two cd set by the FIXX website I paid $23.00 dollers for it Orlando FL. Live !!!!!!!!
YOU TOOK THE WORDS ... I agree, the best song ever. I identify so much with this number. Got the shivers hearing and seeing it live. Too bad I live in the Netherlands and can't see them live. But great to see there are others like me ...
I'm a huge Fixx fan, when I went to one of their shows back in July of '07 this song was a nice surprise on the set list! I got the shivers hearing it live, it's one of my favorite songs!
James Bond producers frequently express interest to bands when seeking the theme song for their next upcoming film. They asked The Fixx to try their hand at a Bond theme song and this was the result. They passed on the song (fools!) and so it ended up on the band's 3rd album "Phantoms" from '84. The 5 member lineup from the band's heyday of '82-'93 is still touring and recording. Their 9th studio CD will be released in '09 as will Cy's 3rd solo CD. Never miss their great live shows!

I'll bet Cy was thinking..what's up with those guys in the front row.
Probably wanted to bust out laughing. Dudes were quite entertaining though.

@gowestward1 Excellent finding on the "chimes..." that sound is so incredibly stark and potent. A trademark, very real, very evocative of the 80s.

One of their finest, and probably the best example of their taste and originality.
