Jessi has a unique voice and style, I first discovered her on the White Mansions album, and I never get tired of listening to her, Or to Waylon for that matter. thanks for the posting.
I got a story tell,In 88 Waylon and Jessi, Were in Gallup NM,@ Gilbert Ortega's on historic route 66.Where i use to work. they bought Navajo jewelry's worth $10.000. and people took turns taken pictures.really down to earth and nice folks. Also they were performing @ Navajo Nation Fair. Love them.
If there was anyone I could meet, I would love it to be Jessi Colter. I love her. She and Waylon were my favorite. I have almost every song hemade and am now working on Jessis' Great job. Adoring couple.
You know Jessi wrote the song,,,threw it away...Waylon found it while going through the trash can...Couldn't believe she would throw away such a great song...She didn't think it was that good...WOW..what a great song!
Oh God Jess... I don't even know you , but I love you so much... Of course I cried when Waylon left us. Sigh... Thank you thank you thank you for this. You go girl.
Yes, Jess, I agree, storms never last. Every thing, big or small, is passing and behind even the darkest clouds is a rainbow. I just love this song, so optimistic and bright. Thank you so much for posting
First of all, "Starboy," when Jessi did this performance, she was 64 years old.
You'd better *pray* you make it to that age, much less look/sound half as good as this woman.
Next: Jessi wrote this song. Her first recording of it on her 1975 Capitol album is *the* definitive rendition. Other people (Dr. Hook, Dottsy, etc.) liked it so much they borrowed it from her.
Finally. This song is classic. Just like the lady who penned it.
'Nuff said. Show some respect. She owns her own song.
Since the early '70s, Anne Murray, Crystal Gayle, Linda Ronstadt, and Jessi Colter (not necessarily in that order) have been my four favorite female vocalists. Anyone who slams Jessi Colter has probably never breathed oxygen... because she is, and always will be, a breath of fresh air.
Dr. Hook does an incredible version...but if not for Jessi Colter, the Doc and his band would have never been able to add it to their repertoire! Jessi wrote this song!!! And don't be so quick to judge... she's not Lisa, after all.... ( I don't know where the connection is there, but...it sounded good... :o)
i love dr hook too, but jessi wrote this song and if u watch her singing it with waylon live, u will see, the love that makes this song so meaning full. love waylon and jessi. that was true love
I just loved what she had to say about Waylon...I just don't know she can be so strong and say words like that without getting all emotional...I myself couldn't have done it....Both me and my better half sing and I don't know what I would do without him.
She can write but she sure can't sing. Never could never will. But she sure can write a beautiful song. She should have left it at that

Unlike todays singers Jessi doesn't need a band loud to cover up her singing, beautiful woman and all songs of hers are too.

My favorite. As a fellow musician and lover of country music I hopes she always keeps this kind of music in her soul.
