Then, with the magic of the internet, I searched him and bought every album and ever DVD hes been in since then. This is simply beautiful! My mother died of Lung Cancer 24 years ago....we had it sung at her funeral....she had requested it but I did not know until the soloist sang it....I remembered then that my mother had asked me about it when I sang it in the choir one Sunday morning. I miss her so much!

I'm 17 and I grew up listening to him. Before he lost all of his weight it was more about the lord. Now he plays the crowd towards him in his solo stuff, but that is an observation I have seen. I'm so glad he went back to Gaither Vocal Band.

David has a voice like no other. It is incredible! God made Davids voice an instrument for God's glory to share with the world and David has chosen to share that awesome gift to glorify God. WOW...that was beautiful! To kristwords, goofyguy1987, tosweet69, babystinky, romeoelas007, TheAleph74, tiernan87, and aznlove3: Every singer has his own unique characteristics. Bocelli has amazing range and the ability to hold notes for a long time. Groban has beautiful intonation and clarity, and lovely falsetto. Phelps has great vibrato and the ability to reach high notes. These 3 amazing singers cannot be compared. Each one has his own "trademarks" that set him apart from the rest.

When comparing voices, its all a matter of personal taste. Josh and David when singing for the glory of God are both making "A joyful noise"! I thank God for my hearing that I can get the blessings they both bring. For my voice so I can praise Him and share His word. But also for the Holy Spirit that lives in my heart that keeps me from judging others. For only through Him are we judged worthy.

I dont like to criticize a singer, But there is no comparison between Josh Groban and David Phelps. Completely in different leagues. David is the Best Male Tenor i have heard and i have heard alot. well comparison is not needed at all. firt josh is not a tenor, he is a baritone, although call it a "low tenor". even so, josh has an amazing wide vocal range including his great falsetto. lets not forget his beautiful technique and wonderful vibrato. and David, well what can i say, an amazing tenor with a really wide vocal range. josh and david have both amazing voices, but there is not a "best" betwenn them

Yeah, there's not much technique behind josh groban's singing, and his vibrato is not as free. David definitely is the better singer with technique, expression, and range. His emotion is just so heart felt, don't think you can match the emotion when singing to God. Who else is greater than He? Not one.

WOW...that was beautiful! To kristwords, goofyguy1987, tosweet69, babystinky, romeoelas007, TheAleph74, tiernan87, and aznlove3: Every singer has his own unique characteristics. Bocelli has amazing range and the ability to hold notes for a long time. Groban has beautiful intonation and clarity, and lovely falsetto. Phelps has great vibrato and the ability to reach high notes. These 3 amazing singers cannot be compared. Each one has his own "trademarks" that set him apart from the rest.

God BLESS him. Over and over again. You can feel the annointing that God has placed on this man. This song blesses me all the time. It's the song I sang at my beautiful brother's funeral. God Bless you David Phelps.

When comparing voices, its all a matter of personal taste. Josh and David when singing for the glory of God are both making "A joyful noise"! I thank God for my hearing that I can get the blessings they both bring. For my voice so I can praise Him and share His word. But also for the Holy Spirit that lives in my heart that keeps me from judging others. For only through Him are we judged worthy.

I don't know about y'all but when i hear this song I wonder if there is a kinship between your sould and God, I wonder if we were able to see him before our birth. Because when I hear this it is as though my heart aches for a long lost love. I miss him more than my own deceased relatives. im not racist in any way but i have to say this i went to a small country church with all blacks and i thought only old black women cold sing but this guy proved me wrong omg he can sing just as well as them. i keep watching this over and over it amazing i love it! thanks for this post :)

I dont like to criticize a singer, But there is no comparison between Josh Groban and David Phelps. Completely in different leagues. David is the Best Male Tenor i have heard and i have heard alot. The compassion, the emotion, the effortlessness, the conviction, the praise that he has is unbeatable. God Bless You David, i cant wait to see you worship again. God Bless To All!

well comparison is not needed at all. firt josh is not a tenor, he is a baritone, although call it a "low tenor". even so, josh has an amazing wide vocal range including his great falsetto. lets not forget his beautiful technique and wonderful vibrato. and David, well what can i say, an amazing tenor with a really wide vocal range. josh and david have both amazing voices, but there is not a "best" betwenn them

David Phelps has a much better technique then Josh, David is more powerful, filled with range and shows less throat when he sings. In fact I heard they wanted him to be an Opera singer at Baylor.

Yeah, there's not much technique behind josh groban's singing, and his vibrato is not as free. David definitely is the better singer with technique, expression, and range. His emotion is just so heart felt, don't think you can match the emotion when singing to God. Who else is greater than He? Not one.

josh's vibrato not as free? well in that i dont think someone with a "good' knowledge abou tmusic would agree with.. lets see,dont pay attention to me, but thousands of critics and professor on music could think aobut somthing wrong of josh's technique, but not his vibrato ! his and bocellis vibrato has been considered one of the most beautiful vibratos since corelli and bjoling. maybe if you say you dont like it, i would agree, but saying its not as free? mm dont think so :)

I really don't think you know what yo are talking about, with all due respect. Actually, it's the opposite: thousands of critics and professors of music will agree that Josh (and Bocelli) have a very faulty and poor technique. And please, don't compare them with Corelli and Bjorling, that's blaspheme!

it is very sad that someone here would critize a comment without eventaking the time to read it carefully. first of all i wasnt talking of bocelli and josh general technique, i was talking about the beauty of their vibrato. and second of all i wasnt comparing them to bjorling and corelli. in third place, i never said josh was a tenor. that is exactly one of the reasons why i said there shouldnt be a comparison
