Widmark was a decent actor all things considered. He was also one of the most difficult on the set. Few of his colleagues enjoyed working with him. The alienated many in the industry, which is why he never won an Oscar or received an honourary one.
Most of the movies were like comedies in some scenes he was very tall and in others back to normal size. at one point in a movie called Twp rode together he was even taller than James Stewart hehehehehe seems like good stuff that hoss crap
Easily my favorite actor, first saw him in The longships when it was on British tv early 70's and had me hooked.Sad day when he died.Cheers for many enjoyable hours of movie watching.
This is an excellent tribute to one of the greatest actors. There wasn't a role that he could not do. He really was outstanding in noir, westerns, and military roles. He was truly believable in these roles and you just want to listen to what he has to say next. He was one of the best.
I could go on and on listing my favorite Richard Widmark movies- from The Bedford Incident to Madigan to Death of a Gunfighter to Hell and High Water to Panic in the Streets... He was the BEST!
I first became a Widmark fan when the Madigan tv movies were aired in the early 70's. Then I started seeing the young Widmark in the old films which made me appreciate him even more. A great actor with a great legacy of work, he will always be remembered. Best film, Night and the City with Pickup On South Street a close second.
Great actor I was very sad to hear of his passing. Aside of Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas Widmark my favorite actor. I was also sad to hear of Mitch's death when it occured nearly 11 years ago. Now the only one left is Kirk Douglas.

Richard Widmark has been in so many good Film Noir movies and he's excellent in all of them. His passing marks a huge loss in Cinema.

Cold icey blue eyes` high cheek bones molded
him into a character that found presence on
the screen. Pushing that old lady down the stairs in a wheel chair` was a scene that shocked and seered his name into the viewer forever. Excellent
