it seems like they really downgraded the 'mark & execute' feature between this video & the full game. in this vid, he could mark lights, thats been removed for the full game. also, it used to be an OPTION for the player to see the slow-motion for the executions (slow-mo was done by holding 'Y' to execute, no slo-mo if you just tapped it), now it's automatic everytime & he doesn't even finish with the "mozambique drill" (3 shots, 2 to the chest 1 to the head) like he does at 4:53...

I think after Chaos Theory, Sam became like Rambo\ Jason Bourne. Not giving almost a shit to stealth, and as you can see, his movements in edges are like 5x faster than in the previous game. Sad for a Splinter Cell fan. Me.
What I was trying to say is that Sam wasn't this God damn violent. But yeah sure, anyone would go crazy like hell when they loose a daughter/son. But still, I want them to make a remake of Splinter Cell 1, 2 and 3 with these advanced graphics, WITHOUT CHANGING THE GAME'S MECHANICS.
They have been trying to use other things other than the classic controller for years. Sometimes something will be a hit (ie Wii), but the classic controller idea still remains. My guess is that games wont change very much.
If you read the novels and pay attention more to Sam Fisher in the games you'll see he was all ways like this. The only reason why he is so violent now is because the NSA isn't holding him back like they were in previous games.
Atleast they didn't cancel out the stealth abilities. They only showed a more agressive, guns blazing, feel in this one to show how the gameplay has changed. If you look closely you can see other ways of doing the situations in a stealthy way. So maybe there might be some easter eggs reflecting back on the old ones or re-visiting previous maps. I hope UbiSoft read my reply. I would be happy. XD

I was at an EB Games once and they were showing an Assasin's Creed trailer on an Xbox and PS3 side to side, then they asked people what one looked better, then they said the PS3 screen. The people opened up the box and inside was an xbox. Other screen nobody cared that much for was PS3. PS3 Isn't so much more on graphics then Xbox is. people just think it is by what they've heard.

That's what I think. When asked if it'll come out on the PS3 they always say that they don't have plans to. Meaning that they might later on, but for now they aren't working on it. It depends if microsoft keeps paying them to keep it exclusive. Once the agreement is expired, THEN they will talk about a PS3 port.
I am so happy that this is coming out on PC! I can just buy it on Steam. I don't have a 360, only a pc, and now I won't have to borrow my friends 360. I hope my computer can run this though.

Oh hell yeah. The story line is COMPLETELY changed from when they first started. But this game really looks to have come together. I know it will be worth the wait.
I haven't been blown away by games in a long time long time, and Conviction just ended that long period..This game looks so amazing and it was only the preview. I can honestly say all the delays and stuff were well worth waiting for by the looks of this, but one strange thing is the lack of a ps3 port..All previous SC games went on both platforms and pc so I hope they let ps3 in on the action this time :)
there not ubisoft even went on their own forums and said 2 every one we have a dead with microsoft for this game so were not allowed to release it on the ps3 or the way they designed it dosent let them
There are reasons behind them only making the game for 360 and PC.
One of them is that MS paid Ubi to make it exclusive. Splinter Cell got its start on the Xbox and they have a history.
The other reason is that it's easier for the team to develop for one system. They wont have to struggle with different formats allowing them more time to be creative, fully develop ideas, debug, and polish the game.
I hope it does port to PS3 eventually, SC is a great series and has been great with each game part of the series. It would be great to have a bigger fanbase for both sides.
i don't get why all these playstation guys want it on their system so bad, splinter cell games have sucked on playstation so far. chaos theory especially was way worse on playstation then on xbox....
all previous splinter cell games eventually saw release on playstation platforms, but i think only maybe 1 or 2 released at the same time as the xbox versions. they were usually timed exclusives for the xbox & came out later for playstation, but the playstation versions all sucked balls, i can't believe theres a fanbase from playstation gamers...
I believe that there's a PS fanbase. The game may of not been as good, but it was playable. I do find it funny how many of them don't seem to realized why a developer would choose to make a game exclusive when they have had and still have many exclusives themselves.
It's definitely really disappointing that this isn't coming out for the PS3. But maybe eventually it will. After all, every other Splinter Cell game was released on Playstation 2.
I think he never use the vocabulary because, first, he's a good (and sort of strict) dad. If he wanted a rebel teen to stop saying foul words... I guess he had to start by himself. Th actually kept many of the same element. The social stealth is still there, plus the lights and shadows, plus the new mark and execute. What still puzzles me it's how they managed to combine both social stealth and lights and shadows... O_o
well actually there really isnt any social steath anymore becase u dont go through the streets hoping no one will reconize u your going into you target places sneaking through it or shooting your way through it and finish your objective your not sneaking through the streets anymore
But at the beginning he is walking through the streets. I guess that since we're going to DC, we're not going to be put in the location our target is. So, we gotta walk around the streets. Either we sneak through buildings or the street, or we shoot our way through, I think there are many possibilities. The, staying hidden in between the crowd worked for the civilians on that demo. We just gotta wait and see if it works with the 'bad guys' who walk around.
Well, not like Altair in Assassin's creed, but I think that social will still be in there. Perhaps more like Bourne or the guy from Taken. They don't blend in to groups, they blend in to the environment and avoid people that would recognize him, and in some cases lure people that do. :)

The look wasn't so bad when you think of it. I like the vengeful Sam better, but vengeful doesn't mean that he can't hide in between people. It would be kinda cool if his hair grew trough the game, makes it more realistic, LOL... and make people who liked the 'Nam veteran' look happy, LOL. But I don't really matter. I'm pretty sure Sam can make any hair cut look cool and practical, LOL
they probably just made you automatically 'aquire' the weapons to keep the game's pace fast. if you had to stop & physically pick up individual weapons & ammo, it'd really slow down the gameplay.
yeah, i'm not saying i hate the idea, just that i understand / see why they did it the way they did it. either way, doesn't really bother me, i'm much more interested in all the awesome new additions they've made. at first i wasn't sure about the "Mark & Execute" feature, but reading about how theres actually A.I. behind it & how it works etc, i'm really digging it.
of course, there is still months to develop this game. so maybe there will be physical pick ups, but they didn't show it in the demo due to lack of time. we'll just have to see when the game comes out :D

me either, this game looks f*$kin' sweet! alotta haters on the game so far, & while i don't totally disagree that this is alot different then splinter cell, i think it still looks like a great game. maybe people wouldn't be mad if they re-named it, i think there's certain assumptions as to what gameplay entails when people hear "splinter cell" assumptions this game doesn't neccesarily conform to, but i think it looks fun as $#!+, so i don't car, i just wanna play it!

& whats with the comparisons to uncharted 2? i don't get that, these 2 games have little to nothing in common....

I've beaten all the splinter cell games multiple times who are u to say that i didn't grasp the concept? sure the concept is basically the same but the game has changed a ton, its not going to feel at all like splinter cell this is more like a Jason Bourne game

Have you played the Bourne game? It's crap. To say this more like the Bourne game is an insult to both franchises (read the Bourne books and you'll understand that statement) .
Besides, how is it "destroying everything splinter cell was"? What is Splinter Cell? How it this not Splinter Cell? It's like saying that Majora's Mask wasn't a Zelda game, or RE4 wasn't a Resident Evil game. :/

I haven't been blown away by games in a long time long time, and Conviction just ended that long period..This game looks so amazing and it was only the preview. I can honestly say all the delays and stuff were well worth waiting for by the looks of this, but one strange thing is the lack of a ps3 port..All previous SC games went on both platforms and pc so I hope they let ps3 in on the action this time :)

There are reasons behind them only making the game for 360 and PC.
One of them is that MS paid Ubi to make it exclusive. Splinter Cell got its start on the Xbox and they have a history.
The other reason is that it's easier for the team to develop for one system. They wont have to struggle with different formats allowing them more time to be creative, fully develop ideas, debug, and polish the game.
It may come to PS3 later like DA.

all previous splinter cell games eventually saw release on playstation platforms, but i think only maybe 1 or 2 released at the same time as the xbox versions. they were usually timed exclusives for the xbox & came out later for playstation, but the playstation versions all sucked balls, i can't believe theres a fanbase from playstation gamers...

I believe that there's a PS fanbase. The game may of not been as good, but it was playable. I do find it funny how many of them don't seem to realized why a developer would choose to make a game exclusive when they have had and still have many exclusives themselves.

I think he never use the vocabulary because, first, he's a good (and sort of strict) dad. If he wanted a rebel teen to stop saying foul words... I guess he had to start by himself. Th actually kept many of the same element. The social stealth is still there, plus the lights and shadows, plus the new mark and execute. What still puzzles me it's how they managed to combine both social stealth and lights and shadows... O_o

well actually there really isnt any social steath anymore becase u dont go through the streets hoping no one will reconize u your going into you target places sneaking through it or shooting your way through it and finish your objective your not sneaking through the streets anymore

But at the beginning he is walking through the streets. I guess that since we're going to DC, we're not going to be put in the location our target is. So, we gotta walk around the streets. Either we sneak through buildings or the street, or we shoot our way through, I think there are many possibilities. The, staying hidden in between the crowd worked for the civilians on that demo. We just gotta wait and see if it works with the 'bad guys' who walk around.

Well, not like Altair in Assassin's creed, but I think that social will still be in there. Perhaps more like Bourne or the guy from Taken. They don't blend in to groups, they blend in to the environment and avoid people that would recognize him, and in some cases lure people that do. :)

The look wasn't so bad when you think of it. I like the vengeful Sam better, but vengeful doesn't mean that he can't hide in between people. It would be kinda cool if his hair grew trough the game, makes it more realistic, LOL... and make people who liked the 'Nam veteran' look happy, LOL. But I don't really matter. I'm pretty sure Sam can make any hair cut look cool and practical, LOL

they probably just made you automatically 'aquire' the weapons to keep the game's pace fast. if you had to stop & physically pick up individual weapons & ammo, it'd really slow down the gameplay.

yeah, i'm not saying i hate the idea, just that i understand / see why they did it the way they did it. either way, doesn't really bother me, i'm much more interested in all the awesome new additions they've made. at first i wasn't sure about the "Mark & Execute" feature, but reading about how theres actually A.I. behind it & how it works etc, i'm really digging it.

of course, there is still months to develop this game. so maybe there will be physical pick ups, but they didn't show it in the demo due to lack of time. we'll just have to see when the game comes out :D
