Petrified wood could be made in less than 100 years and the way they recognize it is by Carbon dating. There are petrified woods hundreds of Millions of years based o the same Carbon dating method.

The one thing you guys cant touch is carbon dating. Radiation is omitted at a standard and constant rate, there by making it easy to date things. Most rocks aren't much older then a few million years. But the old ones aren't hard to find, and the dates produced match space rocks, which are left over from the supernova!!!!
