  • mario kart 64 is the best it hauls ass then super circut

  • mario kart DOUBLE DASH!!!!!!!!!

  • Mario Kart Wii is my favorite, then probably

    MK7

  • I find the 3D effects beautiful in this game. I agree with Gamester81 that the 3D effects are not impressive - but they are beautifull - it gives a very nice dept into the screen. The 3D effects are best when you gets hit by something in that game.

Sorry for my bad English. I hope you understand me:)

  • my favorite is this one actually.

  • Mario 64 owns all!

  • @jsteimer04 right on

  • Double Dash here but I don't know maybe this one will beat it as my favorite MK once I get to check it out.

  • mine is mario kart wii

  • my favorite is double dash

  • My favorite Mario Kart game is the original. Still havent found anyone that can beat me!

  • Mario Kart 64 is my favorite

  • Awesome review dude!

  • Really nice review

  • looks awesome

  • My favorite MK is Double Dash...I'd very much like to see them include a "double mode" or something similar in a future edition...

  • I am getting this on Christmas thanks for the review! :)

  • i know im gonna be the only one who says this but double dash is my favorite

  • @chrisluvshacks That's the game that started my console gaming!

  • Hey gamester u going to go on pete's Server's he setup? x) might give me more incentive.

  • Ds version has been my favorite, but I haven't played the Wii version.

  • Does Atari karts for the Atari Jaguar count as a mario karts game? 'Cause I've played that one, and it's ranks about 97th on the best mario kart game. The 89 "games" between it and the other 7 all involve a man dressed as bowser on a go kart repeatedly driving by you and smashing your gonads.

  • I've only played two Mario Kart games, the SNES version and the N64 version. The N64 version is much better. But calling it my "favorite" doesn't mean much since I've never played the other 5.

  • mariokart 64 or mariokart wii

  • ITS OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You thought you could fly? Sounds like someone didn't "stop!" and "read the description" "read the description"

  • Comment removed

  • Chuck Norris Watched this 99,999,999,999 times in 5 hours.

  • Nintendo always makes good games. :)

  • Excellent Review John and I would have loved it to have had the flying ability as in Diddy Kong Racing that was awesome! and I really love the neon lighting going on in the background john it made the game stand out a treat.

  • I liked every Mario Kart but the SNES and GBA games, I just don't like that mode 7 style and look. It just all looked flat to me, I had trouble telling the roads from the walls from objects. But I do love the updated versions of those old ones that they use, where it looks more like 3D that we'd expect. So that's cool. I love the review, I like that you showed the unlocked characters, gave in depth detail. Everywhere else I see is just the starting 8 characters, early stuff.

  • ITS PRONOUNCED "GRON PRE"

  • The thing that still bothers me the most about this game is, why in the world does it have a number after it when no other mario kart game does? ( 64 doesnt count)

  • Well, this Mario Kart turn out to be a lot better than I gave it credit for. I definitely wasn't surprised that the 3D didn't work out too well. As for my favorite Mario Kart, I enjoyed Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64.

  • Mario Kart DS was the best

  • super mario kart. 2 decades old and still better then the vast majority of games released today

  • Mario kart double dash and then mario kart wii

  • Mario Kart 64, Double Dash, and Wii

  • my fav. is Mario Kart Super Circuit for the GBA and it makes me sad that Dry Bones is not in 7

  • 2:21 LOL "whip your tail around" I whip my tail back and forth!! sorry, sorry XD

  • @Kenny3821 cricket noises

  • @justinium77 Yeah I figured nobody would get that....

  • mario kart 64 battle mode

  • @Fritos2k6 dr mario

  • Mario Kart Double Dash!!

  • great video man....but when i go into online multiplayer do i need good connection to play or can i play right away???? plzz help =]

  • mario kart 64

  • Some of those tracks looked great. I also really liked Diddy Kong Racing. For me I think my favorite Mario Kart game is Mario Kart DS. Great review John.

  • I'm getting MK7 for Christmas this year! I've played it, and am a huge fan of the gameplay. This might be my favorite MK game in the series. My favorite after this would be double dash.

  • Menu doesn't impress and new characters are pretty dissapointing but.. MK7 is still lotta fun

  • I never turn the 3D on my 3DS anyways, it's too much of a hassle when playing some games. Especially a racing game. Oh and my favorite Mario Kart is probably 64 or DS. Picking this one up soon though, it looks promising.

  • i used to like mario kart a lot until i took an arrow in the knee :(

  • N64 Mario Kart for me. So many memories!

  • This game will be reminded as the one that saved 3ds.

    It's a terrific game.

  • Puntymario is correct. It was Mario & Luigi's special item in that game so it makes its 2nd appearance but the tanooki tail is all new. I really love playing online in this especially when you have a full room and races can be pretty unpredictable.

  • Mario Kart: Double Dash is the best Mario Kart.

  • I actually really like the 3D in this game. Agreed that it doesn't add a great deal to the game, but regardless, I think it looks good.

  • Well, of course the 3D is sub-par. It's sub-par with every 3DS game because Nintendo knew it was going to be a gimmick to draw in the crowd. Everyone I've talked to plays with it turned off because you have to tilt your 3DS at the perfect angle for it to even work, not to mention it's an eye strain. Not that I'm berating your review, I always love your reviews, just pointing this out. My favorite Mario Kart game is a tie between Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64. Gotta love the classics.

  • @Kelranox

Well. I always play with 3D turned on. The 3D isn't sub par. It's exactly what it's supposed to be. It s as if you were looking through a mirror. There have been some games with popping out objects too (take DoA Dimensions for example). It's just more natural if everything stays inside the window.

The 3Ds' screen does indeed have its problems but none of them make me turn off the 3d or my eyes strain.

  • The fireball Attack was available in Double Dash, just not with every character

  • Can anyone tell me if the online play is filled with hackers like the DS version? That really destroyed the fun for me.

  • @kuroibuta those were ppl who snaked, the Wii mario kart had the HACKERS

  • @vanburen20 nope, i could snake perfectly but ppl could go way faster than I could, they had unlimited mushrooms ;(

  • wicked cool lighting

  • Nice review! I like the 3D. It doesn't pop out but it doesn't hurt my eyes and it gives some nice depth. It's not the best on the system but as with all my 3DS games i always use the 3D option. I love this game to. The first person mode is horrible though. They should have scrapped the idea.

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer Actually I liked the first person mode. I constantly used it and I preferred it than using 3rd person. It's a nice option to have for those who uses first person. The thing that bugs me, if I tilt the 3DS just a little bit it moves the cart to the side and is quite frustrating if you accidentally move the 3DS. I wonder is there an option to turn that feature off. This is a good game, but it can often get frustrating with the rubber band A.I. at 150CC.

  • the best mario kart game is the N64! they tried to have the same fun with the following episode but N64 is simply unbeatable. the battle mode with 4 players split screen is awesome and being able to see what the others are doin gives a whole new dimension and a lot more challenge. you actually had to develop strategies to get the last guy standing.

  • I wish they would go back to the Double Dash style where characters had their own specific attacks and you got to choose two at once. That added a nice layer of strategy.

  • Really awesome review john and my favorite mario kart is double dash

  • Wow! I love the fire flower weapon and the tail, very cool! I also like the Lucky 7s...since its MK7 ;) Thanks for the review John!!!

  • I'm only 15 but super Mario kart is my favorite

  • @DrCoolio64 its even better on n64 :)

  • Great review

  • I don't have a 3DS yet(short on cash due to medical bills), but I have to say so far out of all I've played the Wii version is my favorite, with DS right up there with it. :-)

  • I have not picked this up yet but I hope to on christmas and play with some people on here. My favorite Mario Kart is Mario Kart 64. Obviously.

  • I like Wii the best, just was the most fun to me. The bikes were funner and had much better handling than the cars.

  • Y U NO PICK PEACH!?! D:<

  • MarioCart 64 is personally my favorite because it was the first one I played, and the only one that I actually own even though I have played all the other ones.

  • Diddy Kong Racing>Mario Kart

  • I honestly think the DS version is still the superior version. When comparing the release before the DS version, it really brought a lot of new additions to the table. One prime addition was mission mode which I thought was pretty good idea and was also very entertaining. The emblem editor also gave the game a personalization aspect which made the game feel like YOUR game. The singleplayer experience in MKDS is what made the game. The online gameplay was the icing on the cake.

  • Double dash was my first so, it will always be my favorite

  • I second that.

  • Donkey Kong Jr. IS Donkey Kong for DKC according to Nintendo, which is why DK Jr. appears as so in Super Mario Kart on the SNES instead of just Donkey Kong.

  • I thought I was the only one who liked Double Dash, it kills 64.

  • @AcidBurn5009 I do too but it don't kill 64. Probably on par as the 2 best (I haven't played 7 yet.)

  • DOUBLE DASH FTW! i loved the character exclusive items, and also if you weren't really good at racing you could just help out your friend! so many hours on that game, definitely my favorite in the series.

  • Personally my favorite Mario Kart game is Double Dash. I've played all of them, including the 2 arcades, but Double Dash just struck a chord with me. It may have been because it's on my "first" system (meaning the first system I had of my own) or it could be that I feel the gameplay is most balanced of the games in the series. It's probably a little of both.

  • Nooo! Dry Bones!!! D:

  • I've only play the GBA Mario Karts and up, so I don't really understand this: Why don't people like Double Dash? I love it.

  • Double Dash all the way across the sky

  • I'm sorry I disagree with the 3D being bad in this game. I think it's better to be able to judge distance with the 3D depth than it is on a 2D plane. If it's any game that can really utilize 3D it's racing games. A lot of people are complaining about not being able to hold the system still but if your not a twitchy spaz that's not a problem. I agree with just about everything else in this review though.

  • diddy kong racing is the best kart game ever

  • smk original is always gona be the best....i spent many hours of battle in that game.

  • THEY DIDN'T INCLUDE DRY BONES????

    awwww maannnnn.

  • @squirralicious Or no Walugi NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @samusaran11 Man, I loved to use Waluigi too :C

  • metal mario is overused online

he's a copypasta of bowser anyway

  • To me, Mario Kart can't get much better than the n64 and DS incarnations. This game is definitely on my holiday wish list!

  • My favorites has been a dead tie between Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Kart DS.

  • Super Mario Kart is my favorite because I spent countless hours playing grand prix and battling by brothers & friends

  • my favorite is double dash even though most people i know don't like it. Loved getting that blue drift to get that extra boost. However i still prefer diddy kong racing over all mario kart games

  • Got this game about a week ago. I agree with everything - great review

My favorite has to be Mario Kart on the GBA, I have only played 2 of the Mario Kart games though :P

  • ugh i wish i could have both. i got mario 3d land today . i also want this game but have no extra money. im thinking about taking mario 3d land back to gamestop and exchange. i didnt open it yet

  • I think the 3D is great in this game, much better in Super Mario 3DLand though.

  • Hi John i just got a copy of Mario Kart 7 this week for only £20 which was sweet! cool review - my fav mario kart game def has to be double dash on the gamecube, i love the levels and weapons it's def one of my fav game on the gamecube!

  • :O

  • John, you mentioned something about the newer Mario Kart games that has really bugged me. If someone is losing the race they tend to get better power-ups, which irks me because you'll often lose the race not because the other player was better but because the cpu helped them. All these newer power-ups are ridiculous, like the squid that covers your screen in ink. When I was playing Mario Kart Wii against the cpu I was constantly bombarded by that, lightning bolts and stars. It made it unfun.

  • Looks like a must buy ..... great review

  • Hey John, you wanna race when I get my game for christmas?

  • This game is so amazing! I need to get it soon!

  • There was Mario Kart games in the Arcades? I've never seen one of them. This one looks good Mario Kart DS was great.

  • I like spaghetti.

  • Favorite Mario Kart game? Either Super Mario Kart or Mario Kart 64.

  • you're a great reviewer

  • looks awesome, I love the mario kart series. The original SNES one is still my favorite though (but I haven't tried this MK7)

  • Yeah drifting started in the first one on snes.

  • mario kart 64 is my all time fav

  • The 3D is works perfectly (one of the best). It's not a "popup 3D" because the 3DS cannot do this kind of 3D. And this problem with the coins. I don't have this kind of issue. Maybe you're moving your hands too much. And the 3D doesn't add anything to the game? Of course it doesn't. This is a racing game! They can make use of 3D in puzzle or plataformers, but in a game like MK it's just not possible (unless you change completely the way the game works, but then it would be a MK game anymore).

  • I'm pretty sure drifting was in the SNES edition, may be wrong though

  • Great review, John! I was thinking the same thing you were, though. From the initial trailers I thought you would have actually been able to fly in mini planes similar to Diddy Kong Racing, but oh well. Hopefully the Wii-U version will implement planes, and maybe even hovercrafts as well, borrowing another vehicle type from DKR :)

    Well done, bro.

  • no dry bones, 0/10, will not buy, mario kart is ruined, nintendo is over, destroyed all my nintendo games in an acid bath and dumped my consoles in the challenger deep

  • Dude, I'm not buying a Mario kart game they all suck except Mario kart 64 which I already own.

  • @TheNews1990 Super Mario Kart? U_U

  • @TheNews1990 How do you know they suck? It seems like you never played any Mario Kart games after 1997. Nostalgia blindness at its finest.

  • @bmcj199 Did I say I've never played them, just remember Assume makes an Ass outta u and Me... I've played them at friends houses if it's any of your beeswax and they are Horrid they suck so much ass it makes Nintendo look like porn stars.

  • The lack of "flying" is not a bad thing. It's just because, for some random reason, you wanted it to have flying karts... But, c'mon, nobody expects that from a Mario Kart games. It's like saying "I'm disapointed with the new Gran Turismo because it doesn't has airplanes".

    LOL.

  • cant wait to get this for christmas

  • 64 or the snes

  • Mario kart 7 community?

  • Good review! I'm tempted to get a 3DS just for this game. Anyway my favorite Mario Kart game is 64, i just love the level design in that one, and used to play a lot of it back when it came out. But i also like the WII one a lot as well.

  • 64

  • I played MK7 at the LA Auto Show, and I thought the 3D was really good IMO, especially in first person. But I'm not buying it for the 3D. I'm buying for the online features and new additions. :)

  • how did you light this video? it looks great

  • nice review, John, i'm thinking about picking this up becuase I enjoy the multiplayer. PM me your friend code

  • 24th

  • personally I think the 3D is much more noticeable in first person mode, but that could just be me.

  • @dragongod165 Well, the 3D can induce headaches, because it isn't anaglyph and it is glassless. I'd prefer the DS/i(XL), since it doesn't auto-update and has good battery life.

  • @homeofthebadguys i've had this thing since march, no headaches whatsoever

  • @homeofthebadguys again, another blanket statement from someone who doesn't seem to own a 3DS. ANY kind of 3D can give someone a headache, it differs from person to person. My 3DS has never given me a headache since I bought it at launch and I've played Super Mario 3D land for 5 hours before. Auto updating can be mandated and I fail to see how that could possibly be a bad thing anyway.

  • @MegaMetal96 As for battery life, the people who say you only get 2-3 hours play the thing with brightness at 5 and the 3D at max. the thing is hella bright and I usually set it to 1 on power saving mode (which is comparable to an iPod Touch at half brightness) with 3D the slider at half. That said I usually get 5-6 hours of life. I sounds like someone like you wouldn't play with the 3D on so you could get 6-7 hours easily.

  • Great review man! I cant wait to play this game. My favorite Mario Kart game is Mario Kart 64, because I've only played that one and the first one. I really need to catch up with the series.

  • drifting started in double dash.. a feature i do not like but a good one..lol nice vid

  • @alecmcalec Drifting started in Mario Kart 64

  • @bmcj199 you did not boost from drifting until MKDS.

  • @homeofthebadguys Uh...no. You get mini-turbo boosts in every Mario Kart besides Super Mario Kart. It wasn't until Mario Kart DS that the boosts got more powerful depending on what type of Kart you use.

  • Argh.. balloon battle! *snakevoice*

  • The game is fantastic!

  • I'm glad the brought back the coins.

  • I've put over 10 hours into this and I've only had it for 2 days. Love it! Best original 3DS game (not a remake)

  • can the 3ds play the other ds games? non 3d?

  • @lestat34208 yes

  • @lestat34208 it can play most (of not all) other DS games in 'non' 3D mode

  • @GhibliMehow ok cool was thinking of getting the 3ds as i do not have the original but didnt want to waste money on both systems. thanks for answering :) happy holidays!

  • @lestat34208 yes, and 3ds sucks.

  • @homeofthebadguys Which one of these are you:

    a fanboy

    not a 3DS owner

you own a 3DS with very few games

    very young

pick a few and get back to me.

  • @MegaMetal96 not any of those, just a fellow hacking temper.

  • @homeofthebadguys A fellow hacking temper? that doesn't make any sense. So if you are none of the things I said that means you have no bias towards Nintendo, you own a 3DS with lots of games and you are over the age of 14. somehow I doubt that.

  • @lestat34208 yeah

  • Nice Video ( :

  • Goats suck...Dogs rule!
