At 9:14, the video of train #38 with engine 154 was taken at Marion, NC, about 1950. Does anybody know who owns this footage or where it came from? Sure is neat, and I'd like to see some more color footage of CC&O steam. Thanx!
I was glad to see that a segment on the Clinchfield had been included in the special; the "History" channel rarely covers railroads and American history anymore.
Wow...That section where it passes right below itself @6:20 is over between Ridge and Camp Two. You can still see through the trees to the track below from the upper track.
many year ago my gramps showed me the graves of 3 black railroad workers in glenwood nc he said they were killed in a accident building the railroad

when i was 5 or so i saw santa clause on the clinchfield train he stopped in marion and gave us all gifts wow some 40 years ago

My grand dad Glenn Hollifield worked for the clinchfield RR from 1925 to 1961. He was a conducter.

My hometown is Erwin. My dad, uncle, and granddad all worked for the Clinchfield. I miss the old colors of gray and yellow.
